Overview
MRV’s Pro-Vision is a powerful provisioning and management solution for rapid deployment of next generation Carrier Ethernet and Optical Transport services. Pro-Vision brings network management to the next level by providing a comprehensive suite of graphical service delivery functions including service creation, service assurance and service maintenance. It effectively manages MRV’s powerful OptiSwitch® family of Carrier Ethernet products and Optical Transport LamdaDriver™ and Fiber Driver™ elements.

Key Features
Plug-and-Go Zero-Touch Provisioning
The zero-touch provisioning results in significant operational cost savings to the service providers. The plug and go zero-touch provisioning minimizes the number of truck rolls onsite. It allows remote device turn-up, automatic software updates, FPGA versions, configuration files, database synchronization and backup/restore functions.
Flexible Offline Service Provisioning
The offline service provisioning allows adding devices and services in offline mode. Preparing the device database in advance saves on installation time and costs of provisioning service, as it does not require connectivity to physical hardware.
Automatic Topology Discovery and Path Computation
Pro-Vision automatically discovers the network topology. Device connectivity is learned using LLDP (802.1ab) standard. Shortest path is calculated for EVCs based on algorithm. Optimal path (shortest, longest or redundant) is calculated for EVCs based on intelligent path computation algorithm.
End-to-End Dynamic Service Provisioning
A single screen drag and drop service wizard simplifies the provisioning of Carrier Ethernet services (E-Line/ELAN) end-to-end including the intermediate nodes. Creation of a service is a three-step process; create a customer, add end points, and select the profile within the specified SLA. Predefined service profile templates streamline the overall efficiency of service creation.
Best-in-Class Performance Monitoring and Data Collection
Performance monitoring provides end-to-end visibility into how a service is and assures customer SLA is met. Pro-Vision provides both real-time and historical performance monitoring. It also incorporates a highly flexible real-time data collection mechanism allowing to poll object on large number of devices. Thresholds can be set to generate user-defined alarms.
Flexible Customized Report Generation
Periodic reports are required as proof of service delivery for mobile back-haul or business services. Pro-Vision generates various reports in PDF, excel or HTML file formats. Users can generate daily, weekly or monthly reports on-demand, or select from multiple types of report such as service OAM: Y.1731 or RFC2544, SLA metrics, device inventory or port details. Both the most current and historical values are reported.

Customer Web Portal
Customer Web Portal allows monitoring of service performance from the web. It provides complete visibility to customer-specific SLA performance data through interactive and dynamic real-time dashboards.
Pro-Active Fault Management
Fault management allows rapid identification and resolution of faults. It supports alarm categorization, open, closed and acknowledged, alarm drill down categorized by severity, managed resource type and time of day. The event/trap processing allows filtering, suppression, propagation and intelligent alarm correlation.
Integrated Optical Transport Management
Integrated Transport Network Management uses the common Pro-Vision management framework to discover and manage Lambda Driver and Fiber Driver WDM/DWDM modules including the platform chassis, power supply, amplifiers, transponders, Optical Transport network (OTN) modules and reconfigurable add/drop multiplexers (ROADM). The integrated transport manager provides device menus for device, slot, and port details, front panel views, and digital diagnostics.
Open Management Northbound Access
The northbound interface allows retrieval of fault, configuration, and performance data from OSS/BSS. The interface is based on web services SOAP/XML standards SNMP, and is tested to work with IBM NetCool alerts/events.
Multi-Level Security
The security features improve the overall confidence in your network. Carrier networks often are managed by a number of different organizations, each with varying levels of access and control. Pro-Vision provides flexible multi-user security levels that allow the administrator to control specific operations, views, maps, audit trails, and logs that can be accessed by individual users. These security levels reduce the risk of unauthorized access and miss-configuration.
Site Maintenance
Pro-Vision allows simultaneous schedules for upgrading configurations and software images remotely across multiple devices. Periodic backups and file transfers can be scheduled. The batch upgrades allows upgrading devices based on a region identity. Backup and restore configuration, upload/download, and database synchronization offer efficient operations and remote site maintenance. In addition, automatic device turn-up process and zero-touch configuration provide significant operator benefits, reduce the overall OPEX, and increase customer satisfaction.

Carrier Class Platform Scalability and Availability
Pro-Vision platform is built on a powerful distributed architecture supporting carrier class scalability, reliability and high availability. The platform provides common functions for device discovery, inventory management and full FCAPS (fault management, configuration management, accounting, provisioning and security). The flexible and modular design of the Pro-Vision platform allows scaling of small networks with few devices to very large networks with many devices. Its client-server architecture allows future growth. It supports distributed multi-tier architecture of redundant front-end servers and back end database servers.
