Moujahed AchouriDeputy Regional Representative, Regional Office for the Near East and North Africa, FAOHead, Multidisciplinary Team for Oriental Near East, FAOFAO Representative, Egypt

Mr Achouri, a national of Tunisia, holds a B.Sc. in Rural Engineering and Soil and Water Conservation from the Institut National Agronomique de Tunis, Tunisia, and an M.Sc. in Watershed Management Sciences from Utah State University, USA. He started his career in 1982 as Watershed Management Specialist, Forestry Department, Ministry of Agriculture, Tunisia. In 1984, he became Service Chief, Studies and Planning of Soil and Water Conservation Projects/Programmes, Soil and Water Conservation Department, Ministry of Agriculture, Tunisia. From 1988 to 1991, he worked as National Chief Technical Advisor for an FAO Project in Tunisia. In March 1991, he was appointed Deputy Director, Soil and Water Conservation Department, Ministry of Agriculture, Tunisia. He joined FAO in 1995 as Chief Technical Advisor of a Project in Pakistan. Between August 1998 and June 2001, he served as a Visiting Chief Technical Advisor/Forest Consultant for the Forest Conservation, Research and Education Service (FORC) of the FAO Forestry Department, with missions in Pakistan, Yemen and Syria. From August 2001 to December 2003, he served as Forestry Officer in the Watershed Management, Forest Conservation, Research and Education Service, FORC in Rome, Italy. Subsequently in June 2004, he moved to the FAO Regional Office for the Near East in Cairo, Egypt, as Chief of the Regional Operations Branch, RNER. In October 2007, he returned to FAO Headquarters as Chief of the Forest Conservation Service (FOMC) in the Forest Assessment, Management and Conservation Division, Forestry Department. Mr Achouri succeeds Mr A. Ould Ahmed as Deputy Regional Representative for the Near East, Head of the Multidisciplinary Team for Oriental Near East and FAO Representative in Egypt.

Mohamed Alaa DiabManaging Director, PICO Modern Agriculture CompanyChairman, Agriculture and Irrigation Committee of the Egyptian Businessmen Association

Mohamed Alaa Diab is the Managing Director of the PICO Modern Agriculture Company since 2005. Eng. Diab has a BSc. in Engineering from Cairo University and an MBA from the American University in Cairo. With more than 30 years’ experience in PICO group of companies, he started his career as sales engineer in PICO Machinery for 3 years, and then he joined the PICO Petroleum Services for 4 years as a Sales Manager. In 1990, he joined the PICO Modern Agriculture Company, as a General Manager. In 1996, he was promoted to the Managing Director, where he still holds this position to date. Eng. Diab realized remarkable achievements in the company’s performance both domestically and internationally.

Eng. Diab is the chairman of the Agriculture and Irrigation Committee of the Egyptian Businessmen’s Association. He is also an active member of the Egyptian-French Business Council, and the British-Egyptian Businessmen Association.

Jonathan CharlesDirector of Communications, European Bank of Reconstruction and Development

Jonathan Charles is the Director of Communications at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. He is responsible for the Bank’s internal and external image and messages.

Before joining the EBRD, Jonathan was the presenter and editor of the BBC World News European breakfast programme. It was broadcast on BBC1, in the United Kingdom, and BBC World News, across the globe. It had a daily audience of many millions. He also made several award winning documentaries.

Previously, he spent 17 years as a BBC foreign correspondent, living in Frankfurt, Brussels, Paris and New York. His work involved covering events in Russia, including the Beslan School Siege, the Chechen War of 1999/2000 and the 1998 Economic Crisis. He also covered the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as many other conflicts, all over the world. One of his specialist areas of expertise was the European Union. He covered the Maastricht Treaty Negotiations and the evolution of the Euro, from 1991 until 2010.

Jonathan has an MA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Oxford University.

Brendon de BoerCommercial Manager, Cargill Egypt

Brendon de Boer has been the Commercial Manager for Cargill Egypt since 2011. He joined Cargill in 2006 as a buyer of grain from farmers, then headed up the cash book (for both farmers and millers), before becoming the Country Manager in Zambia in early 2010.

Mr. de Boer has experience in the world of commodity trading as he spent 2 years working for Standard Bank in Johannesburg. The division at the Bank in which he worked focused on the financing and hedging of farmers grain crops.

Mr. de Boer was born in South Africa, He attended the University of Natal to study a BSc. in Agriculture holds an MBA from the University of Cape Town.

Emmanuel HidierSenior Economist, FAO Investment Centre Division

Emmanuel Hidier has been working in FAO’s Investment Centre Division since 2006. The Investment Centre helps FAO’s member countries to mobilise funding from international financial institutions (IFIs) for investment in agriculture and agribusiness.

Mr. Hidier has a long experience in formulating and supervising projects with the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Eastern and Central Europe and the CIS. His areas of interests include agricultural marketing and agricultural policy.

In collaboration with the EBRD and the WB, Mr. Hidier launched in 2002 the EastAgri CEI network with the aim of improving exchanges of lessons learnt between IFIs and private banks operating in the region. Before joining the UN, Mr. Hidier was Export and Project Finance Manager for the Banque Nationale de Paris in Bangkok.

Mr Hidier speaks fluently French, English, Italian and Thai.

Mohamed KhalilDirector, Bunge Egypt

Mohamed Khalil is the Director of Bunge Egypt and Board Member of Barclays Bank Egypt. He has previously worked as attaché in the Cabinet of Minister Dr. Boutros B. Ghali at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the permanent Mission of Egypt in New York, and as a Treasurer in Citibank Egypt. Mr. Khalil has a BSc. in Economics from Cairo University. He speaks French, Arabic and English.

Leonid Kozachenko President, Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation

Leonid Kozachenko is the President of the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation, an all-Ukrainian community organization established to maintain the sustainable development of Ukrainian agro-industrial complex and promote its integration into the world market.

Mr. Kozachenko has grown his own stock company, Ukragrobusiness, and founded the influential non-governmental organizations: Ukrainian League of Agricultural Sector entrepreneurs (ULASE) and the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation. He has received a CNFA award for NGO management and a European Marker Research Centre Award for Intergovernmental Relations Development.

Mr. Kozachenko graduated with a degree in Engineering from the Ukrainian Agrarian Academy in the faculty of Agricultural Mechanization and holds a degree in Economics from the Academy of Foreign Trade.

Gilles Mettetal Director of Agribusiness, European Bank of Reconstruction and Development

Gilles Mettetal is Director of Agribusiness at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The EBRD agribusiness team comprises 50 staff of 22 different nationalities and is one of the largest sector teams within the EBRD. The Bank is also involved in a number of policy dialogue initiatives, particularly with regards to food security.

Mr. Mettetal’s previous work experience was with the Investment Centre of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) where he was in charge of the identification and preparation of projects to be financed by major international financing institutions such as the World Bank or the International Fund of Agriculture (IFAD) in Asia, Africa and South America. He also worked for the OECD/Club du Sahel on the Analysis of the Competitiveness of Agriculture in the Sahel and Grain policies in Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire and Mali.

Gilles Mettetal holds a post graduate degree of L’Ecole Nationale Supérieure Agronomique de Montpellier. He also holds an MSc degree in Biology and Environment.

Piroska M. NagyDirector for Country Strategy and Policy, Office of the Chief Economist, EBRD

Piroska is Director for Country Strategy and Policy at the Office of the Chief Economist of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). She is responsible for the economic strategic directions in the EBRD’s 34 countries of operation covering Emerging Europe, Central Asia and North Africa as well as key policy initiatives such as local currency and local capital market development, food security and climate change. She also oversees the EBRD’s quarterly economic forecast exercise and heads the Secretariat for the Vienna Initiative, a public-private coordination platform in emerging Europe. Previously she was senior adviser on financial sector stability and regulatory issues as well as crisis response. Prior to the EBRD, Piroska worked for the International Monetary Fund between 1986 and mid-2008, with surveillance and policy program responsibilities mainly in Europe and Africa. While on leave from the IMF, she was lecturer at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1996/97 and worked at Fitch Ratings as Senior Adviser in 2003/4, covering Europe. She has published in the area of euro adoption in emerging Europe; financial stability issues; and fiscal policy reform and the author of the book The Meltdown of the Russian State (Edgar Elgar, 2000). She holds a M.Sc., Macroeconomics, and Finance from the University of Budapest, Hungary and conducted post-graduate studies at George Washington University, USA.

Abdessalem Ould AhmedAssistant Director-General and Regional Representative, Regional Office for the Near East and North Africa, FAO

Mr Ould Ahmed, a national of Mauritania, holds a B.A. in Economics from the Faculty of Law and Economic Sciences, Tunis, a D.E.A. in Economic Sciences (Development Economics) from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, France, and an International Degree in Public Administration from the National School of Administration (ENA), Paris, France. Mr Ould Ahmed started his professional career in 1985, first as Chief of the Projects Service and then, from 1988 to 1989, as Deputy Director of Finance and External Debt at the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Mauritania. From 1989 to 1991, he was Senior Adviser in the Ministry of Planning and Employment and, from 1991 to 1992, Director of Planning responsible for the coordination and formulation of economic development programmes in the same Ministry. From 1992 to 1997, he served as Economic Adviser to the Prime Minister.

In 1997, he was appointed as Minister for Fisheries and Sea Economics and, in 1998, was nominated as first Commissioner for Human Rights, the Fight against Poverty and for Reintegration of the newly created homonymous Commission in Mauritania. Between 2001 and 2003, he worked as an international consultant on development issues. Mr Ould Ahmed joined FAO in 2003 as FAO Representative in Lebanon before serving as FAO Representative in Togo in 2006.

In February 2008, he was appointed Deputy Regional Representative for the Near East and North Africa. In December 2010, Mr Ould Ahmed succeeds Mr Manzoor Ahmad as Director of the FAO Liaison Office with the United Nations in Geneva. In October 2012, he was appointed Regional Representative for the Near East and North Africa. In January 2013, he was appointed Assistant Director-General.

Annamaria PastoreLiaison Officer, Private Sector Team Leader, FAO

Annamaria currently works with the Private Sector Partnerships branch with FAO, serving as a the private sector team leader spearheading the engagement with the private sector in the fight against hunger and malnutrition.

She was trained at the Kellogg Business School, Harvard Kennedy School of Government, the International Peacekeeping School in Pisa, HEI in Geneva, IEP in Paris, the Hague Peace Academy and LSE in London.

Annamaria specialized in Human Rights, Food security, peace keeping operations, International Relations and International Law. She has served as International Officer both at HQ and in field operations working for several United Nations agencies namely, UNHCR, IFAD, WFP, UNESCO, HCHR and OSCE worldwide.

Prior to joining FAO as the Private Sector team leader, she served as Senior Public affairs and CSR Officer at a global health care company in Chicago. She also was an adjunct faculty member and Projects Director at Northwestern University School of Law, International Center for Human Rights in Chicago and the Ethics Programme at the Medical School. Additionally, Annamaria served as press attaché for the Holy See, spokesperson for the Rotary Foundation and Senior Officer for the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs.

She is fluent in English, Italian, French, Spanish, Farsi and German.

Tarek TawfikManaging Director, Cairo Poultry Group

Managing Director, Cairo Poultry Group, and chairman of: the International Co. for Agricultural Development (Farm Frites – Egypt), Americana Egypt for Cold Storage Facilities and El Hashimeya for Land Reclamation. He is also vice chairman of the International Company for Agriculture Production & Processing, and a board member of the Chamber of Food Industries, the Investment Authority (GAFI), the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, the Egyptian Center for Economic Studies, and the Industrial Modernization Centre (IMC). Eng. Tawfik heads the Egyptian Dutch Business Club, and the Food Security & Safety Sub-Council (ENCC). He holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Cairo University, a Master’s degree in Engineering from California State University and an MBA from San Francisco State University.

Philip ter WoortCountry Director for Egypt, EBRD

Philip ter Woort was appointed in April 2013 as EBRD’s first Country Director for Egypt responsible for establishing EBRD’s resident office in Egypt.

From 2009 to 2013, Mr. ter Woort was the Head of the Resident Office of the EBRD in Mongolia. During his tenure in Mongolia, EBRD became the leading financier of the Mongolian private sector both in volume and number of transactions. In Mongolia, Mr. ter Woort also served as a non-executive board director for Mongolian Mining Corporation, the first indigenous Mongolian company listed on a main board of an international stock exchange (Hong Kong).

Prior to his tenure with EBRD, Mr. ter Woort worked in Moscow in the capacity as country manager for Russia for the Dutch cooperative bank Rabobank. Mr. ter Woort came to Russia in 1998 when he joined ABN AMRO Russia’s operation based in Moscow. Mr. ter Woort started his career with ING Bank Amsterdam in 1990 during which tenure he occupied several positions in export & project finance and in specialised commodity finance.

Mr. ter Woort is a Dutch national and a graduate from the University of Amsterdam.

El- Sayed Nader El-BannaChairman, Union of Producers and Exporters of Horticultural Crops (UPEHC)

Mr El-Banna has a Bachelor of Agricultural Science (Department of Plant Production) from the Faculty of Agriculture, Mansoura University (1979); Master of Science in Agriculture, Mansoura University (1990); PhD in Agricultural Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture, Mansoura University (1995). Mr El-Banna’s technical and work experiences are in the fields of horticultural and agricultural production. In addition to his role as Chairman of the Union of Producers and Exporters of Horticultural Crops (UPEHC), he works as Chief Researcher in the Department of Vegetables at the Horticulture Research Institute and was previously Director and Deputy Director of the Horticulture Research Station in Mansoura and Chairman of the Central Administration of Horticultural Crops at the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation. He is also Board Member and Supervisor of a consulting and agricultural development exports services center.

Kristina KapelnitskaLeading Citrus Import Agent, Ukraine

Kristina Kapelnitska is a leading import agent for citrus in Ukraine. She worked as an import director of GK Polly Group Ukraine from 2008 to 2011 and as Director of «Citrus» Direction.

Ms. Kapelnitska has experience in seasonal programs of supplies and sales, management of domestic market of citrus products, development and optimization of client base, development of international contracts and development of new product range. She has also acquired experience in the organization of and participation in international fairs.

Ahmed Mahmoud SobhBoard Member, Egyptian Junior Businessmen’s Association and Vice Chairman, Sobh for Food Industries & Cold Store

Ahmed Mahmoud Sobh was born on 29th of February 1984 in Cairo. He holds a BA specializing in Political Economy from the American University in Cairo.

He worked in Public and Government Relations in SCCT Suez Canal Container Terminal that is managed by AP Moller Terminals.

Mr Sobh is a Board Member of Port Said investors company (Investico) for industrial development.

He was appointed by Sobh Group in 2007 as sales manager for Frozen Fish imports division. In 2008, He became Vice Chairman For Sobh For Food Industries and Coldstore, which is a facility for Frozen vegetables (local market and export to EU and UK).

H is also Deputy for Food and FMCG Committee in the EJB (Egyptian Junior Business Association) in April 2011. He is a member in the Anti-Corruption task force (EJB- ECRC- UNGC- Siemens) and part OF UN RIO+20 Forum (food security and sustainability - Anti Corruption). Mr Sobh is a Member of the Egyptian-Turkish Business Council (Trade Committee).

In 2013 he won with highest votes the board elections for the EJB as the first Board Member under 30 years old.

Ljerka PuljicSenior Executive Vice President, Strategic Business Groups, Agrokor

Ljerka Puljic is responsible for Agrokor’s Strategic Business Groups in terms of planning, marketing, sales and purchasing., comprising the management and control of businesses belonging to the Agrokor Group. Since 2000, she is also a Board Member of Agrokor. Since 2008, she has also been in charge of the Agriculture Business Group.

From 1981 until 1998, Mrs Puljic worked at Ledo in various roles and departments including: Planning and Analysis, Executive Staff Associate for Organization, Head of Planning and Analysis. She was appointed Director of Marketing in 1989. After the acquisition of Ledo by Agrokor in 1994, she held the position of Director of Marketing, then was promoted to Managing Director of Ledo. The period between 1995 and 1998 saw her restructuring Ledo, implementing a new investment cycle and completely reviving the company’s personnel. In 1998, Mrs Puljic was appointed Executive Director of Marketing at Agrokor, a central function where she was responsible for the coordination and control of the marketing activities of all Agrokor Group companies.

During the course of her career Mrs Puljic has attended a number of professional conferences, seminars and completed various education programs. In recent years, she has also participated as guest lecturer and guest speaker at various universities, expert meetings and conferences.

She is a Member of the National Competitiveness Council and President of the Retail Association with the Croatian Chamber of Commerce. In 2010, Mrs. Puljic was among 20 women selected by the European Supermarket Magazine and Institute of Grocery Distribution for the award of “most successful business women in Europe.” She also received the 2010 CROMA Lifetime Achievement Award.

Ms. Puljic was born in Zagreb. She graduated from the Faculty of Economics (Major: Planning and Analysis) in 1979.

Tuli TeclesFinancial Manager, Borges Mediterranean Group

Mr Tecles joined the company in 1996 after working for a period of two years at Repsol Quimica in the Cost Controlling Department. After that first professional experience, he started working at Borges Group in the Nuts Division, first at the Logistics Department and then as Internal Auditor.

After a period of four years as Internal Auditor he was promoted to Nuts Division Financial Manager and after that, in 2004¸ his responsibility as Financial Manager was expanded to cover the whole Group.

Mr. Juli Tecles has a Business Administration degree from Universitat de Barcelona, a Masters in Audit from Universitat Rovira I Virgili, a Masters in Financie from.

Andriy YarmakEconomist, FAO Investment Centre Division

Mr Yarmak is an Agricultural Economist with a specialization in Farm Management from Sumy State Agricultural University (Ukraine) and has an MBA from Kyiv Mohyla Business School (Kyivo-Mohylyanska Academy, Ukraine). Andriy has 16 years of experience in market information systems, international agribusiness analyses, agricultural policy analyses, business planning, sector and industry analysis, strategic planning, market analysis, restructuring processes and land privatization for agricultural and food processing enterprises in Central and Eastern Europe and Former Soviet Union.

Mr. Yarmak is a founder of APK-Inform: Vegetables and Fruits (Fruit-Inform) and AgroCareer projects. For 11 years he has also worked as a Private Food and Agribusiness Advisor based in Ukraine and participated in advisory boards of three large Ukrainian, Russian and International Companies. He advised commercial companies, TA Projects and international organizations (USAID, IFC, CIDA, SIDA, IFAD and others) on issues related to agribusiness development and successfully completed consulting assignments in Ukraine, Georgia, Ethiopia, Moldova, Serbia, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Poland, Czech Republic, Turkey and Macedonia.

In April 2007 he successfully completed a 4-year assignment as a Deputy Director and Sr. Market Information Specialist of Agricultural Marketing Project implemented by US-based company Land O’Lakes, Inc. Previously he worked part time as a Director of Kiev office of Ukrainian Agribusiness Information Consulting Company APK-Inform.

Prior to starting his own business he worked as a Senior Agribusiness Consultant for Sparks Europe Sp. z o.o. (SES), based in Warsaw, Poland (European arm of Sparks Companies Inc., presently Informa Economics Inc.). Prior to joining SES Mr. Yarmak worked one and a half years in Ukraine on as a Senior Economist on a farm restructuring and land privatization project. Prior to that work, Mr. Yarmak taught international agribusiness in Sumy State Agricultural University and worked as Junior Scientific Researcher and a PC Programmer at the same school.

He speaks Russian, Ukrainian, English and Polish.

Nadia PetkovaSenior Banker, Agribusiness, Istanbul Regional Office, EBRD

Nadia Petkova has 15 years of professional experience in financial analysis and banking. Having spent 11 years at EBRD, she assumes responsibility of the management of the agribusiness bankers in the Istanbul Regional Office (RO) and the ETC Hub in Istanbul, as well as other dedicated bankers in a number of RO working for the Agribusiness team in a number of countries (Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Turkey). She has extensive experience in sourcing, structuring and executing private sector deals in almost all of the EBRD’s countries of operations. Up to date, she has generated close to EUR 1.2 billion of business volume for EBRD. She also has an excellent knowledge of the SME sector in a number of countries including Turkey. Nadia also assumed the responsibility of Agribusiness coordinator for Turkey, Tajikistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Azerbaijan, Egypt and Jordan, and was involved in policy dialogue in Turkey related to the implementation of a Warehouse Receipt Programme.

Hussein Mansour, Food Safety Expert & Head of the Food Safety Unit, Ministry of Industry and Foreign Trade

Dr. Hussein Mansour joined the Ministry of Industry and Foreign Trade as Food Safety Expert & Head of the Food Safety Agency Management Team five years ago. He served as the Agricultural Minister Plenipotentiary & Head of the Agricultural Office at the Embassy of Egypt in Washington, DC. for six years.

Dr. Mansour has 40 years of experience as an agricultural scientist, research management coordinator, and educator in Egyptian and Middle Eastern institutions (Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Syria and UAE). He has broad experience in international agricultural development programs through his engagements with CODEX, USAID, FAO, ICARDA, ACSAD and number of other international organizations. He has organized and chaired many international workshops and conferences on agricultural development, genetic diversity and animal conservation. He has served as the technical leader on several nation-wide animal genetic improvement projects in the Middle East. In addition, he assisted in the establishment of the Egyptian National Agricultural Library (ENAL). He also established a number of information and computing laboratories in the Egyptian Universities and the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation. Dr Mansour is one of ten scientists who contributed to the formation of the Arab Science and Technology Foundation (ASTF) in Sharjah, UAE.

Ismail KeskinoðluCEO, Keskinoðlu

Ýsmail Keskinoðlu has been on the Board of Directors of Keskinoðlu since 2004. He started his career working in finance. Recently, he became Coordinator of Food Products Production and the Purchasing and Supply Chain Departments. Mr. Keskinoðlu executed many unique financing projects for his company while working in the finance department. He had also lead many investment projects for Keskinoðlu in both food production and farming.

Previously, he was Vice President of the Agribusiness Assembly founded in the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB); he is also member of the White Meat Industry Association (Besd-Bir).

Mr Keskinoðlu was born in 1980 at Ýzmir. He completed his degree in Political Science and Public Administration at Bilkent University (2002), a Masters degree in Finance from Monaco International University (2004) and completed an MBA at Ege University (2007).

Markos TibboLivestock Officer, Regional Office for the Near East and North Africa, FAO

Markos TIBBO is veterinarian and animal breeder/geneticist currently working as a Livestock Officer for FAO at its Regional Office for the Near East and North Africa (RNE) based in Cairo. He earned his DVM from Addis Ababa University in 1993 and his PhD from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in 2006; he has 20 years of experience in research (for CGIAR centres) and development (for FAO and NGO) in Sub-Saharan Africa, West Asia, South Asia and North Africa region. At FAO he provides overall technical assistance to member countries of the region on normative development and emergency field programs on sustainable intensification of livestock production with due consideration to the balance on environment and natural resources; small-scale dairy development through organising farmers into producers cooperatives/associations, establishing milk collection and cooling centres, food safety and hygiene, transport, processing/delivery to processing plants; animal genetic resources management; livestock and climate change, fattening of sheep and goats targeting different markets, livestock feed assessments, feeding, veterinary quarantine and import risk analysis, control of production, infectious and trans-boundary animal diseases and zoonoses. Dr Tibbo has authored or co-authored 120 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, books and conference proceedings. He is affiliated to many professional associations where he serves in the editorial boards. He received awards for leading outstanding research team, contributions to science and professional societies.

Dr. Hamdy Elsayed is a Professor in Animal Nutrition, livestock Senior consultant and agro-enterprise specialist. He is qualified to undertake the duties and responsibilities of agro-enterprise agric projects, since he has over 30 years of experience in the field of agribusinesss development, farm planning, livestock, forages, milk and home processing industries linkages. He got his PhD degree in Animal Nutrition with a minor in Ruminant Nutrition from Ain Sham University in Egypt, with the cooperation of the Animal Science department at Nebraska Lincoln University, USA via the Channel System and Visiting Scientists Program. Along with his academy experience as a professor of animal nutrition in Ain Shams University, he worked in the EU Food Sector Development Program (FSDP) as a manager in the livestock/dairy extension component. The main goal of this project was to increase rural income through creating awareness of new technologies, conducting training programs as well as providing finance sources in the form of loans. He also worked in the New Land Agricultural Services Project (NLASP), that was funded by the International Fund For Agricultural Development (IFAD) and focused on rural women activities and roles in dairy animal enterprises, such as animal breeding and management, milk recording and processing. Beside his roles as a staff member in the university, Dr Elsayed worked as the manager of ruminant component of the Middle East regional agricultural project (MERAP) sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture and EU, the manager of the Milk Replaces Research Center), and the manager of the Agricultural Research and Experiment Center in the Faculty of Agriculture at Ain Shams University. Dr El Sayed has 55 published scientific articles in animal production scientific journals.

Nikolay Gorbachov is the Commercial Director of Soufflet Négoce in Ukraine and Russia, as well as Director of the New World Grain company, a 100 percent subsidiary of the Soufflet Group in Ukraine. Most recently, he is also responsible for the company’s grain trading operations in the Russian Federation. Mr Gorbachov is also the co-head of the Grain Committee of the European Business Association in Ukraine. Salah Tawfik has been the Managing Director of Medsofts since 2001. He provided a start up plan and long term objective for this competitive commodity trading firm. Throughout his career, Mr. Tawfik has created a responsive, market-driven organization to compete and grow into a major Egyptian trading organization. He increased sales and market share substantially, from 0 to EGP 3.5 billion in ten years. His achievements include the opening of new business and value added operation via strategic alliance and partnerships, as well as the company grow to reach creditworthiness, with over 100 million dollars from banks and 30 million dollar supplier credit.

Other working experiences include his position as Sugar Trader at Cargill LTD, Egypt (1996-1998), and as a Market Specialist at Cargill Investor Service in Chicago, Illinois, USA (1998-2001). While working for Cargill in Chicago, Tawfik developed key Middle Eastern and South American markets for commodity broker’s products. He created and assisted clients to develop hedging and risk management programs for their organizations.

Tawfik received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a minor in Business Administration from the American University in Cairo. He holds a Masters degree in Business Administration, with a focus on International Business from the Maastricht School of Management.
