Sociology Assignment

In the season prison break Lincoln Burrows is on death row for the murder of the vice president's brother. He insists he's innocent and only his brother Michael Scofield believes him. As an engineer who helped design the prison where Lincoln is being held, Michael takes drastic measures to help his brother. He gets himself arrested and sent to the same prison so that with his knowledge of the building the two of them can escape together. However, while inside, Michael discovers a massive conspiracy that is determined to see Lincoln's sentence carried out. The story revolves around this particular issue but however we can see that many important factors related to our society are pointed out in this particular season. The most obvious one is Capitalism. We can see that an institution which goes by the name The Company is a very powerful organization that is run by the most influential and powerful minority of that country as it controls all the important affairs and make them work in their favour and we could also relate this particular factor to the Conflict theory as one class that appears to be the ruling class is exploiting another class by misusing its power. Then we can see Functionalism highlighted as well in this season as the prison is serving a purpose in the society to maintain law and order and with the type of people in the prison it clearly states that a prison is very important for the survival of a society. Lastly a lot of Racism is shown in the movie as both the jails fox river and sona have these groupings based on race and a certain race strives and fights to show and maintain their superiority over people from some other race. The evolutionary theory is pointed out too by showing the survival of the fittest in sona jail especially where the weaker opponents have to die.
