Joy and I both grew up in community experiences that were far removed from the wonderful life that we enjoy here in St. Joe. Joy grew up in a city several times larger than Champaign-Urbana, in a small house in an older section of town. I grew up in a suburb of a large city, in a newer section of town. Over the years of our ministry, both of us have really come to appreciate the lifestyle and values of small farming communities. We enjoy the slower pace of life, the quiet and sense of community found in smaller places. We are really enjoying living together with you here at Prince of Peace. But I have realized that I have lately fallen into a mental trap. With all of the turmoil that is shaking our nation, what is going on in other places for the most part seems far away. It is easy to think that the troubles of cities and states that are hundreds and thousands of miles away are not my concern because I live here in St. Joe. It is easy to think that way, but it is mistaken. It is a trap. I am struck, I have been convicted of the need to pray for our country, to pray for our cities in this time. The media is bombarding us with images and stories of the continuing discord in many of our cities. It may seem that the conflicts are happening in all large cities, but they are not. There are many cities that have minimal or no conflict. But even where the discord is not seen, there are still tensions throughout our country. Conflict between people of different racial backgrounds is real, and needs to be recognized and addressed. Yet not every racial difference leads to conflict. There seems to be a greater conflict that comes from a clash between opposing worldviews, opposing ways to understand our country and ourselves. The Judeo/Christian worldview that has shaped our nation since its founding is being replaced by a worldview that rejects God and places the human being at the center of understanding. As we have seen in The Story, this is what happened with Adam and Eve as they placed themselves in the place of God, knowing good from evil. And as with Adam and Eve, this leads to a really bad place. As your pastor I am calling you to pray for our country, to pray for our cities. We need to humble ourselves before God in these days, as the direction of our nation is under threat. Pray that peace will be known. Pray that Jesus will be known. Pray for people. Pray for changed hearts, for conversions to faith. Pray for truth and the ability for all people (including ourselves) to hear it, know it, and follow it. Pray for our schools and universities. Pray for all of the structures of government. Pray. Pastor Andy 1

    MISSION STATEMENT

    We are a family of

    believers, united to

    know Christ, and to

    make him known.

Joy and I both grew up in community experiences that were far removed from

the wonderful life that we enjoy here in St. Joe. Joy grew up in a city several times larger than Champaign-Urbana, in a small house in an older section of town. I grew up in a suburb of a large city, in a newer section of town. Over the years of our ministry, both of us have really come to appreciate the lifestyle and values of small farming communities. I am struck, I have been convicted of the need to pray for our country, to pray for our cities in this time. Happenings at the Community Early Learning Center …… October 2020

    Teaching and Learning in Christ

From the Classroom… In the Blue Horse room, we have been extremely busy! Our 3 & 4-years-olds are transitioning well to being back at school,

while also wearing a mask all day. We are so proud of them! They are working on learning how to write their names,

counting in English and Spanish, learning their colors and memorizing many new Bible verses! We will be reviewing

letters Aa-Cc, while introducing Dd and Ee. During the month of October, will be discussing different types of farm

animals, pets, fire prevention week, and Fall, as we transition from summer to fall! We are looking forward to a wonderful

month together and are very blessed to watch our students learn and grow each day as many of them prepare for

    kindergarten! Stay Safe & Healthy!

    Ms. Katie & Ms. Meghan

Ms. Savana made the Employee Honor Roll!! Ms. Savana is a floater in classrooms and currently helps as an extra set of hands in the Yellow Duck classroom. She started at PoPCELC in June of 2020. She loves working with the children and watching them learn new things. She also enjoys playing with them every morning when she comes in. She is a very important part of Prince of Peace!

Ms. Savana’s Fun Facts: Ms. Savana’s birthday is on August 31st. She grew up in Decatur, Illinois but now lives in Saint Joseph, IL where she currently resides with her mom, stepdad, and brother. Savana will be welcoming a baby girl in December of 2020! Her favorite color is pink and her favorite place to eat is McDonalds. Ms. Savana’s hobbies include painting, shopping, and eating. Her favorite part of working at PoPCELC is the friendships she has made and the relationships she has made with the children at PoPCELC. She always looks forward to coming to work and spending the day with the kids! Be sure to tell Ms. Savana, “Thank you!”, when you see her!!

Ms. Eva has made the Honor Roll!! Ms. Eva is a floater teacher and has been with us since January of 2020. She has loved getting to know all the children and staff throughout the center. She is a very important part of Prince of Peace!!

Eva’s Fun Facts: Ms. Eva’s birthday is June 5th, her favorite color is pink, and her favorite place to eat is Flat Top Grill. Eva is from Westville, Illinois. She is the oldest of three siblings. She has one younger sister, as well as a younger brother. Her pets at home include: three cats and an amazon parrot. Ms. Eva’s hobbies include coloring, listening to music, and photography. Ms. Eva loves the opportunity to spend time with the children at Prince of Peace and observe their academic growth. She enjoys watching the children interact with each other and observing how they react in various situations in all the rooms in the center.

Thank you, for all that you do at PoPCELC Eva!!!

From the Director… The Staff and Families at our early learning center have been doing very well. All children continue to manage wearing

their masks well, as the masks are a normal part of their daily life. As always, our routine cleaning and sanitizing efforts continue throughout the center. We continue to pray throughout these

times and have faith that this will all come to an end sooner than later.

Faith is a link that connects our weakness to God’s strength.

God Bless Everyone and Take Good Care, Ms Diane
