TATA TINPLATE is manufactured by The Tinplate Company of India Limited (TCIL). Incorporated in 1920, TCIL pioneered indigenous tinplate manufacturing in India. Today, the Company continues to uphold its leadership position in the field of supplying world class Tin Mill products to customers both in India and abroad. Approximately 25% of production is regularly exported to discerning markets worldwide for packaging of a wide variety of fresh and processed foods, beverages, confectionery, fish, dairy products, as well as, for non food applications like paints, pesticides, lubricants, battery etc.

To enhance the value proposition of its product offerings to the customers along the industry value chain, and provide further impetusto its business purpose of being a cost-effective metal packaging solution provider, a Solution Centre at Jamshedpur has been set up. Presently, the Solution Centre is equipped with state of the art Printing and Lacquering lines.

Printed and Lacquered cans enhance the inherent values of tinplate packaging – protection from harmful UV rays and bacteria, retention of original aroma, flavour and colour. Robust packaging ensures easy storage, stacking and long shelf-life. Further, these cans are 100% recyclable and eco-friendly.

The objective of the Printing Line is to strengthen the value chain and showcase the latest design and colour combinations to improve aesthetics and shelf appeal of packaging. Sheets are fed into the printing machine where the job is done as per artwork provided by customer. An inline coater is used for varnishing and polishing the sheet to improve scratch resistance and gloss. Sheets are then passed through the oven for baking.

Sheets are fed into the coating machine for lacquering operation on one side (specifications of which depend on the customer order). Sheets then pass through the oven for baking. The temperature of the oven ranges between
