Lino Cutting
Linocut is a printmaking techn
ique, a variant of woodcut in which a sheet of linoleum, is used for the relief
surface.
Advantages: • You can use it as many
times you want in different colours.
• Lino Cutting production is unique.
• Lino Cutting production is creative.
• Unlike offset lithography you can only make few
copies using linocut technique
Disadvantages: • Lino Cutting production
is time consuming • You can hurt yourself
while cutting • Something could go
wrong

Lino CuttingProcess1.Trace the image onto the tracing paper so then it will be easier to transfer the
image onto the lino.

2. Go over the lines pressing the pencil hard when tracing the image on to the lino, to prevent your tracing paper from moving
stick the tracing paper on the lino with tape.

3. The next step is to cut out the lines on the lino carefully with a lino cutter. get a plastic sheet, ink
on it and get a roller.

• A process used for printing on a flat surface, using
printing plates. • An image is transferred to
a printing plate, • The plate is chemically treated so that only image
areas will accept ink. • Water and ink is applied to
the plate. • The plate is rolled onto a
rubber cylinder applying the inked area, and in turn the rubber cylinder applies
the image to the paper.
Offset Lithography
![Page 8: Print Technologies](https://reader033.fdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022052904/5581fc1cd8b42ad3258b47f5/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Advantages:• You can make loads copies using
offset lithography technique• Using offset lithography technique you will get more clean images than
using lino cutting technique • Offset lithography technique doesn’t
take long
Disadvantages:• If you make just a few copies it will
be expensive• It takes time to set up printing press• The materials are complex to use

Laser PrintingLaser printing is an electrostatic digital printing process that rapidly produces high quality text and graphics by passing a laser beam over a changed drum to define a differentially charged image. The drum selectively collects charged toner and transfers the image to paper, which is then heated to permanently fix the image.
The laser printer was invented at Xerox in 1969 by researched Gary
Starkweather, who had an improved printer working by 1971.

Laser PrintingAdvantages:
• Laser printing is a quick process • Laser printing is cheaper than offset
lithography • You can make as many copies as you want• You can have a laser printing at home
Disadvantages:• Laser printing will probably cost more than
linocut • Laser printing is slower than offset
Lithography • Laser printing doesn’t produce a high quality
pictures like offset lithography• The ink for a laser printer can be sometimes
expensive.
