Term Three is well and truly underway! We have

already had several very successful events such as

our Book Fair, Open Night, TA9 Assembly,

Float parade. I thank our incredibly supportive parent

community for their ongoing participation and

support of all school events. Our partnership with

parents is an important part of achieving successful

outcomes for all our students.

FENACLING FLOAT

Once again our staff teamed up with our talented

parents to enter the annual FeNacLinG Float. Our

Float took on the theme of this years show,

celebrating 45 years of FeNacling. The Truck was

very kindly donated by Titan Tyres once again this

year and our team transformed it into a spectacular

vehicle for the evening. Pegs Creek very proudly and

deservedly took out he honours this year. We even

received the following message from the Regional

Executive Director, ”What a great float again. To

you, your staff, students and parents

congratulations!”

OPEN NIGHT

We had overwhelming attendance at our Open Night

where staff reported over half their parent group

attending in each room. This is a fantastic response.

I encourage all parents to make a time to meet with

your child’s teacher if you were unable to attend. The

classrooms looked fantastic, the Burrup Bouncers

displayed great skill, and our sausage sizzle

collected $248 in donations which will go towards

COSSACK EXCURSION

Last Tuesday students from TA10 and TA11 were

invited to take part in a guided tour of the Cossack Art

Awards. We also had the pleasure of working with the

Artist in Residence to create our own landscape

drawing in charcoal with some incredible results.

Actually visiting and art exhibition and interacting with

the artists was an amazing experience which is not

often available to students of the North West. We

were truly grateful for this opportunity to see arts and

their place in society and learn the wonderful skills and

techniques used to draw landscapes and working with

charcoal.

We were also given some time to look through the

historic buildings of Cossack and appreciate the

importance of this town in the history of the Pilbara

with a questionnaire.

All students are to be commended on their outstanding

behaviour and they did Pegs Creek a huge favour in

representing our school. A number of community

members made mention of what wonderful students

we have.

EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING AND LEARNING

LEADERSHIP

WHOLE SCHOOL MATHS TESTING

EMT Mathematics testing will take place in week 5.

Students will complete the assessments as part of

our constant monitoring and annual whole school

data collection.

NAPLAN results are due to arrive in schools around

the end of August.

CO-DESIGN WORKSHOP

Last week Ms Campbell and Mrs Hobart attended some Professional Learning in Perth. We worked with

teams from other schools to reflect on what is working well in our schools and focus on developing innovative

strategies to improve in other areas.

We will be focussing on: Understanding the Whole Story of the Student and Working as a Team.

Strategies such as changes to home visits, case management, improved data collection, building teams to

share information more effectively will be further explored and developed

ATTENDANCE

As we look at the reasons for children not coming to

school we are worried by the number of unexplained

absences. This is often shown by the Unauthorised

Absences which is currently at 54%. This means

that over half of our children are absent from school

and a reason may not have been given.

Whenever your child is away from school is it vital

that you provide a reason within three days. This

may be replying to the SMS, sending a note to the

class teacher or contacting the Front Office.

We need to work together to improve the

communication between home and school.

EDITION 8 – 10 August 2017

SAFE AND SUPPORTIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

We are now taking applications for enrolments for children

entering Kindergarten and Pre-Primary in 2018.

To be eligible to enter Kindergarten (4 year old program)

in a Government School in 2018, a child must turn four on

or before the 30th June 2018. To be eligible to enter Pre-

Primary (5 year old program) in 2018, a child must turn

five on or before the 30th June 2018.

Please come to the Administration Office with a copy of

their birth certificate, current immunisation details and

proof of address and you will be provided with all the

necessary paperwork.

An application for a Kindergarten/Pre-Primary place

may be made at ONE SCHOOL ONLY.

PEG’S PATCH GARDENING CLUB

Mrs Konig and Mr Young meet with an enthusiastic

group of students before school on Mondays and

Thursdays. They have already worked hard to

transform our Pegs Patch and the gardens in

Ningaloo block are starting produce herbs for the

students to take home and enjoy!

YOU CAN DO IT SURVEYS

This term we will be surveying Staff, Students and

Parents to ascertain progress and gain feedback in

regard to the implementation of our Social Emotional

program. The resuts will then be analysed by our

Learning Environment Team and will inform future

planning in this important area.

BURRUP BOUNCERS

The Burrup Bouncers have had a very busy few

weeks with performances at Open Night, assembly,

school visits and finally at FeNaCLNG. After months

of training and getting a routine together, the team

showed off their amazing skipping skills and tricks

with lots of energy and enthusiasm.

We received such positive feedback from the school

visits saying how students were in awe of the Burrup

Bouncers and that it was obvious how much

dedication and enthusiasm the team had. They also

mentioned the dusty skipping ropes were getting a

work out at recess and lunchtimes!

Raising awareness of a healthy lifestyle and physical

activity, the Burrup Bouncer team have been

spreading the word about fundraising for the Heart

Foundation. Hopefully students from Pegs have

registered online to raise money in readiness for the

Jump Off event held Friday 11th August at 8:30am.

The Burrup Bouncers will perform their routine and

split students up into year groups to teach them

specific skills and some challenging tricks for

morning fitness. Parents are welcome!
