Christmas Raffle Thank you for all the donations, we have lots of wonderful prizes that will be raffled this Friday morning. Thank you also to families for selling tickets. We have had a fantastic year of fundraising and would like to thank all committee members for their hard work. To all families who have supported fundraisers and local businesses who continued to support our school with fundraising we thank you. Thank you also to all teachers for their support of Parents and Friends. If you are interested in joining the committee next year we will be holding an AGM early in the year at which time office bearers will be elected. Even if you are not interested in being on the committee, we welcome as many parents as possible to be involved. Have a great Christmas and see you next year. Thank you Gab Lewis

EDUCATION MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCE (EMA) NO LONGER PROVIDED This is a reminder that there will be no EMA from the Government in 2015. We understand that this will affect quite a percent-age of families at this school. For 2015 the materials charge has been kept at $210 per student per year. With this in mind you may wish to set up a Payment Plan for 2015. This can be set up now, at the beginning of 2015 when you pick up your book packs or any time throughout the year when making payments may be more difficult, for example camp pay-ments. We can work out a fortnightly, monthly or term option. Payments may still be made by cash, cheque or EFTPOS. You can also pay by EFTPOS over the phone if needs be.

GROVEDALE PRIMARY SCHOOL ARE WINNERS!!! As part of our whole school participation in ‘Walk to School Month’ we have received $500 in prize money. This money will be used to further develop our Health and Wellbeing Programs. This year we have begun our journey in developing and adopting a whole school way of thinking and working in order to make our school the best possible place to learn, work and play. By participating in the Achievement Program we will be supported by the ‘Healthy Geelong Together’ Network in developing healthier environments and be formally recognised for promoting health and wellbeing. This Program involves meeting benchmarks in 8 areas of health and well-being. We have met the state wide benchmark for ‘SunSmart’ gaining “Advanced standing in this area and are working towards the Physical Activity benchmarks this year and will gradually work on action plans to meet the benchmarks for the remaining areas. Next year we will be looking at ‘Active Travel’ by investi-gating and identifying safe and routes for students to travel to school. Thank you to all the students and parents for your support and participation in ‘Walk to School’ days and making it such a success. Kerry Reid.

Lets forget about the Christmas cake that requires an entire trolley full of ingredients. This 3 ingredients wonder cake will be much kinder not only to your stress levels but your budget!

Prep Time: 5 Mins plus overnight to soak. Cook Time: 2 and 1/2 hours. Ingredients: 1kg of dried fruit including glazed cherries 3 cups of chocolate milk 2 cups of self raising flour. Method: 1.Place dried fruit in a bowl and cover with chocolate milk. Cover bowl with glade wrap and place in the fridge over night. 2. Preheat oven to 160 degrees (fan forced). Line a 20cm round cake tin with baking paper and set aside. Sift self raising flour over the fruit mix and stir until all is combined. 3. Pour mixture into cake tin and bake for 2 and 1/2 hours. Quick tip: Check the oven each hour to make sure that the top isn't burning. If you think it will burn then make a car-touche (ring of baking paper) and place on top of the cake. Cook until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
