Karate Club: Karate Club will resume in Week 2. Art Classes: Will resume in Week 3. Uniform Shop: We are hoping that the Uniform Shop will be up and running in Week 4. The Uniform shop will be in the first room on the oval side of the Jackson Hall. It will be open for sales on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8.30-9.30am and on Thursdays from 2.30-3.30pm. We have been advised that there will be an online ordering facility. More details will be posted over the next few weeks. School Music Program: In November (12 and 13), the Musica Viva group “Mara” will be visiting our school to perform for our students as part of our music program this term. A note with all of the details has been sent home with today’s newsletter. Please return your child’s permission note and payment to the

school before Wednesday, November 6.

Wearing Hats - Reminder: As the weather is getting warmer (especially when we get days like last Thursday), it is very important for students to bring their hats to school. We have a NO HAT, NO PLAY policy which means that students without hats must stay under the Covered Outdoor Learning Area at Lunch and Recess time. Students are also required to wear bucket or broad brimmed hats, not caps. Could you please also ensure that your child’s hat is clearly named. Positive Behaviour for Success (PBS) News: What an incredible day we had last Friday when the students took part in our “Whole School Celebration”. The weather was perfect and the children were great. The celebration began with a sausage sizzle at lunch time. This was followed by a Disco in the hall and organised activities on the oval. There was laughter and excitement throughout the day, as students danced and played with their classmates. The Jumping Castles certainly proved to be very popular with everyone. A special thank you to the following Year 6 students who organised the music for the disco and also ran it – Alex, Riley, Layne, Boyd, Josh, Annalise, Indigo and Jessica. You did a fantastic job!! Thank you also to all the staff and Learning Support Officers for your help on the day and to the PBS committee for your organisation. Boys Soccer Team: At 10am on the 9

th of October, the Boy’s

Soccer Team played against Hornsby North Public School at Berrambool Oval. We were all excited when we ran onto the field. The first half was really tough. Caleb crossed it to Lucas and

he headed it into the back of the net, at half time it was 3-1 to Hornsby North. The next half we kept on playing the way we play but Hornsby North were too good. They scored 3 more goals. Thank you to Mr Mauragis and Mr Unicomb for coaching and mentoring us, and thank you to all the parents and carers for taking us to the games. Written by Dylan, Harry and Angus. Elective Sport: Elective Sport will run again in Term 4 for Year 3-6. Students should receive notes this week. It is very important that they return their permission note and selections by the due date if they want to get a specific sport as it is very hard to swap children within sports. It is also important that any ‘paid’ sports are paid for prior to the program starting. NAPLAN Results for Years 3 & 5: NAPLAN envelopes have been handed out with the Newsletter today, please check your child’s bag. Kinder News Welcome: Welcome back Mrs Pearce! Mrs Pearce is the lucky teacher of KW while Miss Wilson is on leave. She is thoroughly enjoying teaching all the wonderful children of KW. This week KW has also welcomed a lovely new student, Alexandra Georgiou, who has joined the class this term. Helpers Needed: Mrs Kennedy is looking for parent/community or grandparent helpers for some of the KB class programs this term. If you are able to give up some time on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday please let Mrs Kennedy know. Helping in class programs is a fantastic way of helping the students to understand that the adults around them support their learning, their class and their school. Kindy Co-ops: Mrs Smith would like to remind all parents that Co-ops will not be operating during Term 4. Student Resources Needed: Please ensure that your child has a whiteboard marker, labelled with their name, and an old sock to use as a duster. Kinder classes use this equipment everyday. We trust parents that you will have a great term, supporting and sharing your children’s learning and development. Stage 1 News

PBS Reward Party: Last Friday there were some very excited Stage 1 students at school for our “Whole School Celebration”. The fun began with a sausage on bread at lunch time and then a disco in the hall. This was followed by some organised activities on the oval (the highlight of which was definitely the Jumping Castles). By the end of the day there were some very happy but tired students (and teachers too)! A special thank you must go to the group of Year 6 students who organised and ran the disco. Student Achievements: This week Stage 1 would like to share the efforts of two students from 1Y. Congratulations Tyson for your persistence at solving new words using your knowledge of sounds. Well done Alana for showing an excellent attitude in music and always demonstrating great listening skills. We are very proud to have both of you in Stage 1.

Absence Notes: Thank you to those families who send in ‘Absence notes’ the day after their child’s absence. This greatly reduces the time spent chasing up reasons for absences. It is a requirement of the Department that all absences are explained. You can also ring the school on 64951266 and give a verbal explanation.

Stage 2 News Maths: Over the next few weeks we will be focusing on 3D space, Volume and Capacity and Patterns in Mathematics. PE: We will be looking at netball and soccer skills in PE in preparation for the Jackson Cup. Music: Students will also begin to explore the Musica Viva program 'Mara!' Hats, Hydration & Health Habits: Just a reminder that all students should be wearing a broad brimmed hat whenever they out of the classroom and are allowed to bring their water bottles with them into the classroom. All Stage 2 classes still have fruit and vegetable break and are encouraged to bring a small piece with them.

Stage 3 News Project: This term Stage 3 are studying Antarctica. As part of this unit they will be receiving a project over the next 2 weeks to be completed at home. This project is an Information Report that will be presented on paper no bigger than A3 size. This will be due on Friday December 6, the end of Week 9. If parents have any questions or concerns about this project they should contact their child's teacher.

Lions International Peace Poster Conte st: Children in Year 6 will be participating in the Lions International

Peace Poster Contest. This year’s theme is "Our World, Our Future". Children will complete these

posters at school as part of their art program. Please read the accompanying note for further information.
