Upcoming Events:
As this year starts to wrap up and begin to plan for next year
we are hoping to get some feedback from our parents about
Gibbons School. This year we have focused on differentiated
instruction; instruction that appeals not only to different levels of
ability, but also to the various learning styles of the students in
the school. ‘Bring Your Own Device’ is also an initiative we will
continue with over the next few years.
We have implemented an exciting Learning Commons area
this year where students have participated in Gardening club,
chess club, and builders club to name a few. Our students have
had opportunity for Leadership in both Elementary and Junior
High. We have added option courses such as Outdoor
Education, Robotics, Dance and Drama this past year, and next
year we are moving to Grade 5/6 options called CTF. There are
often costs associated with options, but we are sure to
guarantee that there is always a ‘no cost’ option so there is not a
financial burden put on parents as we often charge for field trips
and extra activities throughout the year.
We try to communicate as best we can to parents through
our Facebook page, website, as well as power school, while
students access Google classroom for their class work. I would
really appreciate if you took a few minutes to answer a very
short survey to help us plan for next year. This form is
anonymous, and all feedback will be taken into account when
planning the 2017/18 school year. Here is the link:

Lunch Time / Appointments / Leaving Early
A closed campus exists to assist the school in ensuring a safe and
caring environment. Students are not allowed off school premises
unless a parent contacts the school via phone/note to have the
student attend an appointment or be involved in a specific activity.
Should you have any questions or concerns regarding this policy,
please contact Mrs. Kristine Wilkinson, Principal, or Mrs. Darla Clark,
Vice Principal.
Severe Nut Allergies
We have students who have severe allergic reactions to nuts. If
exposed to nuts, their reaction may place them in a life-threatening
situation. In providing as safe an environment as possible, we
encourage our students to not share their food with others. If students
are bringing treats for others, we ask that they be free of nut products.
Your assistance in limiting these products being brought into the school
is appreciated. We would also ask parents/guardians to inform the
school if their child(ren) have any life threatening allergies so that we
may better protect your children’s health. Please contact the school
office at (780) 923-2240.
Absentee Check
If your child will be absent for the day please contact the school as
soon as possible at 780-923-2240, or send an email to:
[email protected]. Absentee checks will be done each
morning, and automated calls will be made to verify attendance for
those students marked absent.
