Principals Message Dear Parents/Caregivers, I cant believe that we are entering Week 6 of Term already With the colder weather closing in, could I ask that all jumpers and jackets be clearly labelled as we have quite a large number of jumpers in the lost property boxes. If any of these could belong to your child/ren please contact the office. Removal Trees Due to safety concerns the trees that lined the Hatch Street Oval have been removed. The school will replant this area with an avenue of trees dedicated to our families. In early Spring, families will be invited to purchase a tree and have their name placed on a commemorative plaque. School Jackets How smart and warm do our students look in their new school jackets! Jackets are still available and can be purchased through the front office. (Unfortunately, we have no size 8 jackets at the moment). National Simultaneous Story time 2020 National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centers, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. Now in its 20th successful year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children's book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Kindergarten to Year 6. Pictured is our new librarian Mrs Adamson with this years picture book, Whitney and Britney Chicken Divas by Lucinda Gifford. In the Garden I would like to take this opportunity to thank Shae Fitzpatrick who has spent many hours in our school garden which now boasts a wonderful winter crop of vegetables. Thank you too to Emma, Morgan and Chloe Dennison for their kind donation of leaks and baby spinach. I think our winter canteen soups this year will be delicious! P&C News Just a reminder that raffle tickets are due back this Friday 5 th June. Could all tickets be returned by Friday morning at the latest please. The next P&C meeting will take place on Tuesday 16 th June at 7pm in the staffroom. All welcome, but attendees will need to RSVP via email to Heidi [email protected] The focus of this meeting will be fundraising and the restructuring of the committee and subcommittee. Canteen News The canteen will open for lunch orders only, on Wednesday , Thursday and Friday. Please make sure you use the modified menu, copy on the back page. Have a happy week!
