The Connick-Glascoe House is situated on the east side of Route 381, just north of the Town of Aquasco. It sits on a hill approximately 300 feet off the road and faces west. It consists of a mid-nineteenth century, two story frame, 3 bay by 2 bay main block with a slightly earlier mid-nineteen century, true 1-1/2-story, 3 bay by l bay frame ell. A later shed addition extends from the rear, east elevation, of the ell. The house is covered with weatherboard siding. The main block and ell have gable roofs which are covered with standing seam metal, as is the shed addition. The main block rests on a brick pier foundation. The ell rests on a low flat stone pier foundation, and the shed addition on concrete blocks.
There is a substantial exterior brick chimney at the north gable end of the main block. It is embellished with a single course, dentilled brick cap. Another substantial brick chimney is located at the east gable end of the ell between the ell and the shed addition. (Prior to the addition of the shed wing, it was an exterior gable end chimney).
The main block has a one-story wooden porch with a hip roof which runs across the facade. It is supported by 4 square posts with delicate jig- sawn brackets. This porch covers a side hall entrance located at the south end of the facade.
The earlier true 1-1/2 story ell measuring 15 x 18 feet 2 inches, has a central entrance on the south elevation which is flanked by two 6/6 sash windows at the first story and two smaller 3/3 sash windows at the half story level. The rear, north elevation, of the ell is pierced by two 6/6 sash windows at the first story level.
The Connick-Glascoe House is a good example of a modest frame plantation dwelling built in two stages during the mid-nineteenth century. It is also significant for its architectural integrity: it has undergone little alteration and it represents a type of early dwelling that is fast disappearing from our landscape.

There is a substantial exterior brick chimney at the north gable end· of the main block.
It is supported by 4 square posts with delicate jigsawn brackets. This porch covers a side hall entrance located at the south end of the facade. It is composed of a four-panel door with a two pane transom. The facade is further adorned with a scrolled bracketted cornice.
A beaded batten door is located at the rear, east elevation, of the main block at the south end.
The earlier true 1-1/2 story ell, measuring 15 x 18 feet 2 inches, has a central entrance on the south elevation which is flanked by two 6/6 sash windows at the first story and two smaller 3/3 sash windows at:the half story level. The rear, north elevation, of the ell is pierced by two 6/6 sash windows at the first story level.
The windows are predominately 6/6 sash, except for those at the half story level of the ell and one four-pane window located on the rear of the main block at the corner where it meets the ell. All windows have shutters: they are louvered at the first floor facade and south elevation of the main block; the remaining consist of two plain vertical boards. All of the shutters have their original hardware.
The interior plan of the main block is the side hall, single parlor plan. The hall contains the main staircase leading to the second floor. A doorway on the north wall of the hallway leads to the parlor. A fireplace is centered on the north wall and has a plain wooden mantel. A doorway on the east wall of the parlor opens into the ell, which consists of one room. A boxed stair located in the southwest courner leads to the half-story. A fireplace is centered on the east wall of this room and is adorned with a

Prepare both a summary paragraph of significance and a general statement of history and support.
The Connick-Glascoe House is a good example of a modest frame plantation dwelling built in two stages during the mid-nineteenth century. It is also significant for its architectural integrity: it has undergone little alteration and it represents a type of early dwelling that is fast disappearing from our landscape.
In 1837, William Connick, a planter of Prince George's County, purchased the property (158 acres) on which the house now stands, at a public sale.l By 1842 Elijah Connick, the son of William, was assessed with the property, however i~ was not formerally conveyed to him until the death of his father in 1849. The earlier ell section of the house probably dates from c. 1840, shortly after the Connick's acquired the land.3 The mainblock was probably added within a few decades after construction of the ell.
Elijah died intestate in 1872 and the property was divided evenly between his children, Columbus F., Edward B. F., and Anne S., who married Levi Kirby.4 Anne and Levi Kirby conveyed their share to Columbus Connick in 1873, who in turn conveyed his two shares (106 acres) to his brother, Edward, in 1881.5 The cornice brackets, shutters and hardware appear to date from the ownership of Edward Connick. The property remained in the Connick family until 1908 when Grace R. and Nellie Connick, daughters of Edward, conveyed it to Robert F. Coates.6 Coates and his wife conveyed the property to John Glascoe, the father of the present owner, in 1921.7
