Trenchless Technology for Pressure Pipeline Rehabilitation

PRIMUS LINE®

Mainmark distributes Primus Line® in Australia and New Zealand – a modern and reliable method for rehabilitating pressure pipelines without digging trenches.

For more than 25 years, Mainmark has led the world by developing some of the most advanced solutions for ground engineering and asset preservation problems, and is an accredited Primus Line® installer, with fully-trained operators.

Primus Line® is based on a flexible, high-pressure hose with a specially-developed connection technique.

The Primus Line® hose is inserted into the host pipe from small construction pits, therefore large roadworks or earthworks can be avoided, making the job simpler, faster, and less disruptive.

Its short rehabilitation times and rapid recommissioning makes Primus Line® an exceptionally cost-effective alternative to open rehabilitation, without compromising on hydraulic pressure.

Introducing Primus Line® – Trenchless technology for the rehabilitation of pressure pipelines

APPLICATIONS

Primus Line® is the ideal solution to renew damaged pipes and to increase hydraulic pressure. But it can also be used as corrosion protection inside pipes, bypass or emergency supply. Primus Line® is suitable for water, gas, chemicals, or oil pipelines; thus ideal for councils, water authorities, mining operations, oil and gas companies, and other industrial applications.

• No disruption to road, rail and shipping traffic

• Reduction of noise and emissions

• Low interference with existing building fabric

• Low intervention in landscapes andprotected areas

• Protection of vegetation and species due tosmall construction sites

• Sustainability due to the use of existinginfrastructure (host pipes)

Primus Line® offers environmental and economic advantages

PRIMUS LINE® EXPLAINED

Layers

Primus Line® is a three-layer composite liner which complies with AS/NZ 4020:2005.

Connectors

A unique, high-pressure connector made of a contoured internal core and an external sleeve connects the Primus Line® hose to the host pipe. The external sleeve has a malleable steel jacket on the inside. This is suitable for host pipes, which are made of steel, plastic, cast iron, concrete, PE, stoneware or fibreglass.

The Primus Line® hose remains self-supporting thanks to the annulus that sits between Primus Line® and the host pipe.

Resin is then injected through a valve on the external sleeve. This forces the steel sleeve and Primus Line® into the contours of the connector

core in a durable, pull-proof connection. A leak test is then performed to ensure the pressure-resistant seal is complete.

Depending on the project requirements, the Primus Line® hose can be fitted with either a flange or welded ends. This makes joining bends, T-joints, or other fittings and fixtures possible, regardless of the materials they are made of.

Above: This multi-layered structure is combined with a very thin wall thickness to create a flexible, ultra high-strength hose.

Mainmark offers unique, innovative solutions for rectifying problems with foundation ground in residential, industrial, commercial and civil engineering situations. For over 25 years Mainmark has led the world in developing and offering the most advanced and accurate systems of geo-polymeric injection techniques for ground engineering. We have successfully treated over 30,000 sites in Australasia, varying from small domestic applications to large commercial, industrial, civil and mining projects. Worldwide, Mainmark has completed many tens of thousands of projects. Mainmark has also expanded capabilities to include other innovative ground engineering and asset preservation solutions. As part of post-earthquake remediation works in both Japan and Christchurch, we developed expertise in technologies such as JOG Computer-Controlled Grouting and Jet Grouting.
