Spelling / English TopicLogin to Spelling Shed:https://www.spellingshed.com/en-gb

Practise the words that you have been set for this week.

Our spelling focus this week is adding the suffix –ation to verbs to form nouns. See the work sheets below for some additional practise.

Spelling rule: Word ends in ‘e’ – remove e and + ‘ation’ Word ends in ‘y’ – remove y and + ‘ic’ + ‘ation’ (multiply to multiplication) Most other words you can just add ‘ation’ straight on the end.

English: Use “The King of the Fishes” home learning booklet. (This is a wishing tale. It has a similar plot structure to The Rainbow Bear”). https://www.talk4writing.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Y4-Unit.pdf

Complete the following activities in your home learning book:

Plan your story Write your story

I would love to see your final stories! Please send them to me on Class Dojo!

Our English work over the previous 2 weeks has been building towards writing a wishing tale this week. In your story, your main character will need to rescue a King or Queen of a species. Here’s a chance to be creative! Pick an animal and draw/paint what the King or Queen of its species would look like. This will be the main character of your story! You could use paper and coloured pens or pencils or even make a 3D model!

Helpful hint:

To find the fraction of a quantity divide by the denominator (bottom) and multiply that answer by the numerator (top)

e.g.

2/3 of 21 =

21 ÷ 3 = 7

7 x 2 = 14
