English Read Chocolate Cake. Look at the words on each page, try and read as many as you can. What happened in the story? Did Michael make good choices? Find a recipe for a cake you like. Make your own page for a cook book.You will need a title, a list of ingredients and a method with numbers. Don’t forget to draw a picture of your cake.

Maths 3D shape – using food containers and everyday objects how many of the shapes below can you find?

Can you find any of these shapes in your garden or local park? Look at the faces, edges and corners. Can you count how many each shape has? Can you describe a shape to a member of your family so they can guess which one it is?

3D shape – have a look in your home and in your neighbourhood. What 3D shapes can you find on this poster? Can you learn the names and identify the properties, face, edge, vertices (corner). Can you count the properties? What do you notice about these properties?

NSC: Create a net of one of the shapes

Art/DT Use some empty food containers and create your own model using the different 3D shapes. Can you make a train, a house or a tree?

Design your own fantasy cake? Will it be one tier or many? Will it be a robot a train or a tree? Draw and label your design.

What do we need to do to keep our bodies healthy? Make a poster to help Michael (the boy in the story) make healthy choices. What should we eat and do? What happens if we are not healthy?NSC: Make a diary of the food you eat for the week. Have you eaten more healthy or unhealthy food?

PSHE What did Michael do that was wrong?How do you think he felt when he woke up in the night? Why did he eat all the cake? How did he feel the next day? What happened when mum found out? Do you think mum will forget? Discuss these these thoughts and feelings with your family.

What is the moral of the story? What did Michael do wrong? Why could he not stop himself?What could he have done differently?Think of a time when you did something that you knew was wrong but you still did it, how did it make you feel? What could you have done differently? What will you do next time?
