This is a water clock. It is over two thousand years old. It comes from Ancient Greece.

There are many water clocks, but the designer of this clock was a man called Ctesibus.

It works with water. The water goes into A and then into B. When the water goes up, C moves up and this turns the clock hand (D). It uses water because in Ancient Greece there was no electricity!
