For Harvest, Class 11 dedicated their assembly to CAFOD. They ate a frugal dinner and raised £161.34 to help children like Janine and Eric whom they learned about.

During Christmas, the children and staff raised £707.00 and bought World Gifts: 3 school starter packs, 2 bicycles for community workers, 2 temporary shelters, and training for a village vet amongst other items. Well done everyone!

St Mary’s, Flint

Pupils held a fancy dress sponsored walk around the school field to raise money for CAFOD. They raised a

magnificent £878.26. Many thanks!

St Peter & St Pauls in Harefinch, St Helens

Parishioners teamed up with key stage 1 choir pupils for carol singing outside a local supermarket. The children also entertained shoppers with songs from their nativity.

All money raised was donated to CAFOD. Many thanks!

Holy Family, Southport

Even Dame Edna Everage joined pupils in a sponsored carnival parade, where each year group dressed up as a different continent!

All the money raised will be donated to CAFOD as a memorial to Fr Denis Cunningham, the parish priest of St Christopher’s.

St Christopher’s, Speke

St Jerome’s pupils did lots of different events to raise money including: pyjama parties, sponsored singing, car washes, cake sales, a Fairtrade coffee morning, selling programmes before their school play, raffling props after the school play, a sale of recordings of the Christmas play and having an own clothes day.

They raised £1,168.25 which they spent on World gifts. A massive thanks to everyone!

The children from Sacred Heart raised £1,822.18 for Pakistan through bring and buy sales, cake stalls, non uniform days and

talent shows. Wonderful!

St Peters, Blackburn

St Peters raised £421.09 through holding a non-uniform day, selling CAFOD quiz sheets and designing a poster around the

Harvest theme “Put your heart into it”. The artistic and talented Infant and Junior Departments did just that! Thanks to

pupils, parents and staff.

The ecumenical middle school spoke up for Fairtrade in the first heats of the diocesan public speaking competition. They are going forward to the interschool competition in March. The school had learnt that fairly traded goods gives producers a fairer price for their hard work and a little extra to invest in their communities.

St Edward’s Royal Free, Windsor

Volunteer Judy Gunthorpe led three classroom activities using CAFOD Harvest Rwanda materials. She was presented with a donation to CAFOD of £95.70 with a message from the children:

“Thank you sooo much we hope you can come again!”

Holy Cross, Bedminster

Well done to pupils Isabel, Anina and Julia for the brilliant idea to make bookmarks to raise money for CAFOD’s work overseas. They enlisted the help of their whole class to make 70 bookmarks for sale at 10p each going from class to class during wet playtimes.

They have so far raised £6.35 towards their target of £7 to buy a world gift of school equipment to help a child start school.
