PRIMA Premium DrywallSystems & Partitions
Why specifically PRIMA Premium Drywall ?
Drywall construction is applied in a dry condition without the use of mortar. The materials used in PRIMA premiumdrywall construction are Boral gypsum boards, PRIMA fibre cement boards and Rondo Zincalume steel stud. Thelarge Boral and PRIMA board size sheets are fastened directly to Rondo steel stud frames with self drillingscrews.
The lightweightness of the materials together combined with the ease and simplicity of construction makes it thepreferred wall construction method option. In places where supply is a problem or in construction sites wherewater is barely accessible, drywall construction method becomes the absolute preferred choice.
Boral, PRIMA and Rondo collaborate to set a quality benchmark for the construction of drywall systems where theuser and specifiers can be sure of premium products and performance for:
Water resistant Fire resistant Impact resistant Soundproof
All three companies are established leaders for their respective building materials used as the main componentsfor drywall constructions to achieve optimum system performance. Boral and Rondo are related companiessynonymous with their market leadership in gypsum board system solution while PRIMA fibre cement boardsknown for its superior water and impact resistant properties are supplied to over 60 countries worldwide.
All three companies therefore serve to complement and enhance the delivery of drywall construction productsand solution to builders in Malaysia and worldwide. Therefore it makes sense to insist on PRIMA PremiumDrywall Systems for your drywall construction requirements.

PRIMA Premium Drywall is tested to the levels of fire resistance required by building codes and standards.
Impact on walls come in three basic forms; soft body, abrasive and hard body. Each of these can affect the walllining in different ways and consequently affect the choice of lining system. When PRIMA Premium Drywall areproperly sealed and used in a certified sound rated assembly, these products will contribute to required soundtransmission classification (STC) values.
PRIMA Premium Drywall offer the following key advantages: Strong and durable Lightweight Easy installation Cost effective Aesthetically pleasing Superior water & impact resistance

Fire Resistant All components that make up these drywall systems possess superior firerating properties. The steel framing system is naturally non-combustible.The lining materials (fibre cement board & plasterboard) have been testedby SIRIM and classified as Class O building material under the MalaysiaUniform Building By-law 1984.
The components/systems have been tested in SIRIM Berhad and PSBSingapore in accordance with BS 476: Fire tests on building material andstructure. The test results are as follows:- Fire Propagation Index of Performance, I < 12 (BS 476: Part 6) Surface Spread of Flame Class 1 (BS 476: Part 7) Non-load bearing drywall system One and Two hours rating (BS 476: Part 22)
Water Resistant The facing board in the PRIMA Premium Drywall Systems is PRIMA liner9mm fibre cement board which has superior wet resistant properties.PRIMA liner is made from a recipe mix of cement, sand and pulp.PRIMA liner has been tested by various certification bodies and authoritiesfor its water resistant properties.
PRIMA liner superior water resistant property has been proven after passingthe several test listed below:- Test to AS 3991.5 : Resistance to Hot Water Soaking Test to AS 3991.6 : Resistance to Heat and Rain Test to AS 3991.7 : Resistance to Freeze and Thaw
Upon completion of the test, PRIMA liner remains intact and there were nosigns of delamination or structural alteration observed on the test specimens.
Applications & Advantages
PRIMA Premium Drywall Fire Rated wall systems shown in this manual are suitable to be applied as internalnon-load bearing wall/partition for residential or commercial buildings.
The use of the fire rated wall systems described in this manual shall be governed by the Malaysia Uniform BuildingBy-law, Fire Rescue Department (Bomba) and the local authority regulation.
Impact Resistant PRIMA fibre cement boards ability to withstand impact is undoubted sinceit is a cement-sand based product with concrete-like strength. When usedas a facing board of PRIMA Premium Drywall Systems, it is just the perfectdurable and strong board for drywall construction to withstand hardknocks in areas of high traffic and rough handling.
PRIMA Premium Drywall Systems have the advantage of being more solidand resistant to impact loads compared with traditional drywall systems.Impact loads come in three basic forms: soft body, abrasive as well as hardbody. The drywall systems covered in this manual give you peace of mindknowing that you have already chosen or specified the systems that work.
Designing wall systems to achieve the required Sound Transmission Class(STC) value has been facilitated with the introduction of PRIMA PremiumDrywall Systems. The acoustic properties of these systems have been testedin SIRIM Berhad Malaysia and PSB Singapore. The systems STC ratingranges from 45dB to 60dB.

Fastening Requirement
The following fasteners are recommended to be used to construct the fire rated systems. Alternative fastenerswith equivalent size and suitable head type can also be used, but may require additional work such as sheetpre-drilling prior to installation.
PRIMA liner to Steel Frame
Self-drilling, Self-embeddingHead Screws
Plasterboard to Steel Frame
Bugle HeadPlasterboard Screws
Steel Frame Assembly
Wafer Head Screws
Sheet Installation
Gypsum Board Underlay - Apply sheethorizontally, ensuring vertical sheet jointon one side of the stud does not coincidewith the vertical sheet joint on the otherside.
PRIMA liner Lining - Apply sheet vertically, ensuring sheet joints on one side of thewall do not coincide with the sheet jointson the other side.
PRIMA liner vertical sheet joints must notcoincide to that of gypsum board. Whenapplied in wet areas such as forwashroom, ensure the wall system will notbe subjected to still water.
Please refer to HCIs comprehensive
installation instruction.
To secure steel frame to masonry wall/slab, use 3mm diameter x 50mm long concrete nails or M8 anchor boltsspaced at 600mm maximum centres.

Joint Systems
PRIMA liner sheet joints can be treated as described in thediagram, incorporating perforated paper jointing tape andplasterboard joint compound. Use only joint compoundproduced or supplied by reputable manufacturer.
Best result can be achieved when both PRIMA liner edgeshave recesses. Jointing non-recessed edges should beavoided. If it becomes necessary to flush set over non-recessed edges, the bedding layer, topping layer and finishinglayer should be broadened to 200mm, 400mm and 600mmrespectively.
The combination of recessed edge and square edge is notsuitable to be flush set.
Flush Joint (Rebated Edge)
Finishes
PRIMA liner can be decorated with 2 coats of 100% quality water-based acrylic paint. For general-purposeapplications, there is no requirement for primers or sealers.
Alternatively, the sheet surface can be decorated with wall covering materials, such as wall paper. In all cases, coating, coating manufacturers recommendations must be strictly adhered to. For wet area application, tilefinishing may be preferable.
Expansion Joint
Vertical expansion joints must be provided to accommodate anticipated movement within a building. PRIMAPremium Drywall Systems require expansion joints to be located vertically as follow:
Horizontal expansion joints must be provided at 3.6mm mazimum centres. Seal joint with flexible fire ratedsealant that is compatible with cementitious products.
