Devcon was proud to attend and spoke about the importance of using a monitored security system and having protection for life safety including monitored smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, medical alert devices and two-way voice. Some homeowners have added an unmonitored CO detector (purchased from a home improvement store) but recent studies have shown that many people sleep through the sound of a local alarm. This is especially true in children. For all of these reasons, we must be more vigilant and take precautions that can save a life. Please consider adding a monitored carbon monoxide detector to your existing security system. It only takes about an hour for Devcon’s technician to install the device, test and inspect your system. Owners in our communities receive a discounted price for the device which can be wireless or hardwired depending on your system. In our community associations, Devcon does not charge additionally for monitoring a carbon monoxide, smoke or heat detector. One of our communities shared this tip: In addition to installing a monitored CO detector, put a “reminder” or “note” on the door from the garage into the house asking “Have you turned off your car and have your key in hand?” A monitored carbon monoxide, smoke or heat detector will send a signal even if your system is not armed! MAJESTIC ISLES—”MAKING A PLAN” AS HURRICANE SEASON APPROACHES

In each newsletter, we discuss the importance of having a monitored carbon monoxide (“CO”) detector, but, sadly, we continue to hear stories with tragic results. As you know, the auto industry has succeeded in making cars more luxurious and “quieter.” They’ve added the convenience of “keyless” ignition and even created an “app” to remotely start your car from your mobile device. WYCLIFFE CHARITIES— ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL EVENT

We will always make you aware of new technology including high quality systems capable of adding wireless devices for life-safety, fire and burglary protection and two-way voice. Most older systems don’t have a built in wireless receiver; therefore, if you want to add wireless carbon monoxide, smoke, heat, flood detectors, etc. or a keyfob or medical panic button, you would need to make a further investment in your older system to add a wireless receiver. We would rather see you put that money toward an upgrade of your system to one with a built in wireless receiver the capabilities described above. Your existing hard-wired devices will connect to the new system and will not need to be replaced.

Upgrade packages include a General Electric Concord 4 Control Panel with built in receiver, panic buttons for police, fire and medical, back-up panel battery, two-way voice capability, one or more keypads and labor. A menu of wireless devices is available for installation at the time of upgrade. System upgrades can be done on an individual basis or on a community-wide basis. Your bulk agreement can be amended to include system upgrades with no out of pocket expense to the Association or the homeowners.

Call us for details!

Cellular system communication makes it possible to use “interactive services” that allow to arm and disarm your system remotely and to view a searchable history of events using a mobile app on your mobile device or from a PC. Alarm.com’s free mobile apps for iPhone, BlackBerry, and Android devices, as well as the m.alarm.com mobile website, let you use almost any smartphone or other web-enabled cell phone as a powerful and convenient remote control for your security system. With Alarm.com, peace of mind is more portable than ever before.

With Alarm.com’s mobile apps and your GE system monitored by Devcon Security, you can:

Arm or disarm your security system remotely from your phone.

See which doors and windows are open in your property.

Check system status and motion activity at your property.

Watch live video and recorded clips from your Alarm.com security cameras.

Monitor and control your emPower™ lights, thermostats, and door locks.

Access a searchable history of events reported by your monitored Devcon Security system.

Congratulations to Wycliffe Golf and Country Club and the organizers and volunteers of Wycliffe Charities on the success of their annual Golf Tournament fundraising event. Their efforts raised over $100,000! As with many of our communities, Wycliffe’s members raise money for numerous non-profit organizations throughout the area to help those less fortunate. Attendees enjoyed great golf, delicious food, auction and sale items - all for a very good cause. Devcon is proud to support the charitable efforts of the communities that we protect. PAGE 3 APRIL 2013

We have learned of burglars working in teams and posing as “landscapers” or other contractors. We’ve heard two versions of how they get into homes to commit crimes in broad daylight. These methods can vary:

#1 An individual comes to your front door and says they are a “landscaper” working for your neighbor and they need to show you something they have discovered in your yard. This is an attempt to draw you out of your house and into the yard away from the house. While this individual lures you out of your house and into the yard, another sneaks into your house and burglarizes it.

#2 Two people come to your front door and says they are doing outside work for your neighbor who isn’t at home. They ask if they can use the bathroom. One individual keeps you busy while the other who is supposedly using the bathroom is actually burglarizing your bedroom.

Always Remember…..

Don’t let strangers enter your home! Don’t let anyone lure you outside your home! When you do go outside, lock the door behind you. If someone knocks on your door, call out asking “Who is there?” - do not open the door. Keep garage doors closed and locked. Don’t leave other doors or windows open. Make sure that your security system provides adequate interior protection including motion detectors, glass

break detectors. If you don’t have motion or glass break detectors, a burglar can enter your home by breaking a window or glass door without triggering your alarm, even if your alarm is set!

Always keep your car doors locked and keep belongings out of sight. Don’t leave home without setting your alarm. Use your system whether at home or away!

IMPORTANCE OF A HEAT DETECTOR FOR YOUR GARAGE If you leave a battery charger connected to a golf car, automobile or motorcycle in your garage—be aware! This common practice has been know to cause a fire. Without a monitored heat detector in the garage, a fire can burn undetected, spreading into the home, causing extensive damage and endangering its occupants.

Devcon recommends a monitored heat detector installed in your garage. Devcon will monitor this device 24/7/365 along with your security system so that whether at home or away, you can have round-the-clock peace of mind. A monitored heat, smoke or carbon monoxide detector will send a signal even if your system is not armed!

We are very happy to welcome two new communities to our Devcon family! The Residents of Boca West’s Peppertree I in Boca Raton and Lago Villaggio in Naples will now receive our quality 24/7 security system monitoring and service as an added benefit of living in these beautiful communities. We want to extend a very warm Devcon welcome to everyone!

WELCOME NEW COMMUNITIES
