Greetings, We’re getting excited for the new season with the arrival of Spring. We have been fortunate to have a few nice days to enjoy, so the hope is we will have consistent warm temps and dry weather in the near future. On behalf of the Board of Directors, the Oakwood Staff, and myself, I sincerely hope that you enjoyed the VIP Dinners held in your honor. I have received numerous thanks and compliments from you and want to express our gratitude for your support. As we look forward to April, we are developing a new Spring/Summer Menu for your dining pleasure which will be available on a daily basis beginning April 13th. The Spring Kick Off new menu tasting will be held on Friday April 7th in conjunction with a spe-cial evening of entertainment. Renowned comedian Bob Zany and magician Keith West will perform at 8:00 PM that evening. The cost is only $30 per person for the menu tasting and show. Get your group together and enjoy a first-class event that you cannot find anywhere else in the Quad Cities. Now that’s what being an Oakwood member is all about! Mark your personal calendar for these exciting upcoming events.

I hope everyone had a chance to get out and enjoy a round of golf before Mother Nature decided it wasn’t quite time for Spring. Before you know it, we will be back on the golf course enjoying the game we all love so much. As we turn the calendar to April, there is a lot to look forward to at the club. Starting Masters Week, we will be kicking off our golf events for the year with the Par 3 Contest, and the Play with the Pro Event. Also, don’t forget to sign up for the season long match play events. These events include both men’s and women’s individual & team brackets.

Spring is here and hopefully the weather will start warming up. Please note the following upcoming events in April. Tuesday April 18th - Ladies’ Spring Dinner and Annual Meeting. All ladies are welcome Cocktails starting at 5:30. Din-ner at 6:00. Annual dues of $20 will be collected before dinner. Dues go to prizes for the ladies’ organization sponsored activities, help support scholarships and other charities through the IWGA; provide monetary support to women's needs at the club. Call the office and make your reservation today. Thursday April 27th - Official opening day for golf and bridge. There are two golf draw groups. The morning draw group meets at 11:00 and plays 18 holes following USGA rules. The afternoon groups meet between 1:00 and 2:00 (18 holes) and 4:00 and 5:00 (9 holes) and play a more relaxed game. The ladies’ brochure is now available in the entrance area of the golf bar and on the Oakwood web site. Please check it out. There is a full schedule of fun events planned for this year. Chef’s Corner April, 2017

Greetings Members, New this month from the kitchen: The new menu is starting April 13th. We’ve selected many new, fresh Spring/Summer menu items. The focus on this season’s menu is giving you, our members, more options to choose from. We are now going to feature a “Catch of the Day” with our own spin on how to prepare it and what it will be served with. Everyone make sure to come join us for the Spring Kickoff on April 7th. You will get a sneak peak of what’s in store and try some of our personal favorites. Finish off your evening with a great show from comedian, Bob Zany. We hope to see you there.

Grilled Mahi Mahi with Fresh Pineapple Salsa

Ingredients 4 - 8 oz. Mahi Mahi Filets 1/2 cup Diced Pineapple 2 tbsp. chopped Cilantro 1 Lime 1 Jalapeno, diced 1/4 cup diced Red Onion Salt & Pepper Instructions Season both sides of your fish filets Place them on a hot grill Grill to 135 degrees in the center While the Mahi Mahi is cooking, mix the remaining ingredients, except the lime. When the ingredients are mixed, cut the lime in half and squeeze the juice on top of the salsa mixture. Top the grilled fish with the desired amount of Pineapple Salsa.

Hi Members,

Well, it has been a short winter this year. I hope everybody enjoyed some of the great

golfing days in February, when the weather was so nice. This is the first time I remember

opening that early in 30 years. The March weather has not been so cooperative. We’ve

only had a few warm, dry days to play golf. Hopefully, the weather changes so every-

body can go outside and enjoy the golf course.

With the warm weather we have had this winter, the soil temperatures are warmer than

most years. If you are applying pre-emergent for crabgrass at home, you will have to be

thinking about applying it a little earlier this year. Also, If you need to seed your yard, do

not apply your crabgrass control where you seed. When you seed switch to a crabgrass

control called Tupersan that can be applied at seeding time.
