Presenting HASHTAG

||Statement from the editor,

It’s been five months, since I launched IndependentlyPR (IPR) and honestly, I don’t know what I would be doing if I wasn’t doing this. So, thank you all for taking the time to visit #Hashtag. It was designed to offer exposure for emerging artists and entrepreneurs in fashion, music and entertainment. This is their window to be seen and heard.

When I first started this, I never imagined how inspired I would be. My inspiration has developed from friends, strangers, clients, PR enthusiasts and industry moguls. So if you get inspired or want to know more I have included links to blogs, vlogs and other tools that will really allow you to connect with the artists featured in this publication.

So welcome to #HASHTAG Magazine.

What is a Hashtag??The (#) hashtag is a common symbol used on social networking sites to draw attention to certain words or phrases. By providing the hashtag your information can be placed in a category and easily viewed by others who search for that tag. Once a hashtag has gained popularity it becomes a trending topic.

Throughout this magazine, I have tagged suggested trending topics. So start hashtagging on Twitter, Facebook and wherever else #hashtags are appreciated.

Up close and personal with rdc entertainmentGrowing up listening to music from big daddy kane, slick rick and snoop dogg., #Rdcent. has developed their collective sound that is capturing the attention of everyone that has anything to do with dc’s rap scene. Recently, nominated for best rap artists with heavy hitters such as fattrel, these six artists aim to contribute more to the DMV than just their music. The group was very open to sharing some inside information about them besides music.

<what are some other projects you all would like to work on> <what causes do you really support?> <recording takes up so much of your time, do any of you have time to date?><though you all make up the group, what can people expect individually when you hit the stage?> <so you guys have known each other for over 10 years, what have been some of your best moments as RDC?>

began as a musician playing the drums and congos. He then began writing poetry which he soon started reciting over beats. Incorporating his ear for sound and floetic tounge now, emcee, StarrShinez is known for his eclectic sound that distinguishes him from the syndicated music in nightclubs and radio. He and producer Zulu Child have worked hand in hand to create custom beats that define his sound as experimental and alternative hip hop. Off his latest mixtape, Enter the Darkside the two have steered away from mainstream beats and incorporated live piano and guitar sets into their songs. “We pushed the envelope on this project. I’ve ascended from being a rapper into an artist,” says Starrshinez. With his newfound respect for his craft, Starrshinez is expecting to release Enter the Darkside on May 15 which debuts his hit single, <BLAH>
