Prevention Ideas…The Trust:

1. Train government and industry on Good Aquaculture Practice (GAqP) or Best Management Practice (BMP)

2. Train hatcheries, nurseries, and growout pond farmers and technicians on these preventive measures, sanitation, etc

3. Require records to be kept of all probiotics, chemicals and antibiotics used at each step

4. Require records of who you buy from and sell to. One up, one back

5. Register, inspect, and approve feed manufacturers, hatcheries, farms, transporters, processors/exporters.

6. Require letters of guarantees from who you buy from and give to who you sell to.

7. Have penalties for those found in violation

Some Ideas on The Verification1. Feed mills could be required to have independent

certificates of analysis of their feed and components. And consider random unannounced samples collected and analyzed by independent third party.

2. Hatcheries could be required to have the same

3. Farmers have random unannounced samples collected and analyzed by independent third party

4. Having any products available for use on farms labeled, tested and guaranteed to be free of unapproved residues. Prescription required

5. Monitoring or conducting unannounced inspections or audits at each step. These are after they are registered and approved.

6. Followup on all noncompliance..samples, audits, etc. Make the followup public
