HANDY TIPS FOR THE
KITCHEN.
To freshen up your kitchen sink’s garbage
disposal, place ¼ cup of baking soda, some lemon rind and ice
cubes into it, and then run warm water into it whilst it is turned on.
Chromewear can be cleaned using dry baking soda (note – these are tips only. Always take care. Be sure to patch test first).
DESIGNER KITCHENS at Home.
USING COLOUR…
Enhancing your Interior Design is simple to achieve by modernising your décor and use of colour. The kitchen is the hub of the house and a tired looking kitchen is the easiest way to age and devalue your home, yet modernising your kitchen with a simple renovation and splash of colour is an easy and affordable solution.
The use of colour in a kitchen design is rapidly growing in popularity once again. The trick is to be aware of how much colour to use and in which combinations.
Remember – when considering kitchen design, the cabinetry and a wall account for approximately 75% of your kitchen and therefore becomes the dominant colour. The flooring accounts for most of the remainder where colour is seen, with the benchtops being a small contributor to the total colour scheme of the kitchen. Therefore, when selecting a colour scheme for your kitchen, the cabinetry should be the colour you want to dominate, whilst the benchtops can be utilised for an accent or colour contrast to provide some pizzazz for your kitchen.
Paler colours recede and therefore help to add size and scale to your kitchen, whilst darker colours can close in a space. Modern interior styling in a kitchen frequently uses paler colours such as crisp whites, pale creams and ash timbers for the cabinetry, with a stronger feature colour used to add modern accents on a benchtop or splashback. If you have not been in to visit your local kitchen designer recently, you will be amazed to see how colour can be used in benchtops, splashbacks or a feature wall within your cabinetry. Vibrant cherry reds, golden metallic or crisp chrome glass splashbacks or boldly beautiful patterned Italian timber veneers are popular choices for a renovated modernised kitchen today.
