“What If” Single (Free download)

Video Release 30th August 2013

For Immediate Release: 14/08/2013

“What If” is the first single from Lorraine and The Borderlands debut album Light in the Darkest Corners. A moving

song, the music is light and joyful whilst the lyrics themselves are laced with a deeper meaning. They whisper regret

whilst leaving you feeling hopeful. Creating such a musical paradox is what gives this band their edge.

“What if, comes from laughing at myself and my bad habit of creating relationships in my head rather

than actually having them, admit it, we all do it… right?” Lorraine McCauley.

The video was shot in Glasgow’s

Westend by Glasgow Art School

Graduate Karen Grant. The

Video will be released on

August 30th 2013 on the bands

Facebook Page, so come like

“An impressive debut shot from this Edinburgh-based band fronted by Donegal-born

singer songwriter Lorraine McCauley…” Jim Gilchrist, Scotsman

Tipped by Karine Polwart as the next breakthrough act, Lorraine & The Borderlands, released their soaring debut

album Light in the Darkest Corners in 2012. Rooted in the folk tradition but with an experimental twist Lorraine’s

band The Borderlands, include Jonee Duggan on accordion and glockenspiel, Nick Jenkins on viola, mandolin and

fiddle as well as Mat Clements (Orkestra del Sol) on percussion. Their EP in 2010 won them an invitation to perform

live on BBC Radio Scotland’s ‘BBC Introducing’ as well as performances at Celtic Connections.
