IN  MAY  2014  THE  NEW  EDITION  OF    SOLAREXPO  -­‐  THE  INNOVATION  CLOUD    

 

LOW-­‐CARBON  ENERGY  TECHNOLOGIES    FOR  BUILDINGS,  GRIDS  AND  SMART  CITIES    

From  7  to  9  May  2014  at  Fiera  Milano:  the  international  exhibition  dedicated  to  innovative  energy  technologies  

 

Milan,   November   18th   2013   -­‐   From   7   to   9   May,   the   2014   edition   of   SOLAREXPO   -­‐   THE  INNOVATION  CLOUD  will  take  place  at  the  Rho-­‐Milan  Exhibition  &  Conference  Centre.    

The  event  will   focus  on  energy   technologies  and   their   integration:   from  renewable  electricity   to  storage  applications  and  smart  grids,  electrical  mobility  to  smart  cities,  and  renewable  heating  to  energy-­‐efficient  building  technologies.  

500  companies  and  institutional  players  were  present  in  the  2013  Milan  exhibition,  as  well  as  over  31,000  professional  visitors  and  buyers  from  83  European  and  non-­‐European  countries,  along  with  6,000  participants  in  the  technical-­‐scientific  programme.    

In  May   2014,   THE   INNOVATION  CLOUD  will   provide   the   renewable   energy   sector  with   a  multi-­‐technology   platform   of   international   significance   powered   by   SOLAREXPO,  which   celebrates   its  15th   edition   as   one   of   the   leading   European   solar   events   and   the  most   prestigious   hub   for   the  Italian  market.  

Specialisation,   a   multi-­‐dimensional   approach   to   all   innovative   energy   technologies,  internationalisation,  and  high-­‐level  networking  have  always  been  key  factors   for  the   success  of  the  exhibition.  

SOLAREXPO   -­‐   THE   INNOVATION   CLOUD   also   aims   to   support   companies   in   their   international  approach,  and  Milan   is  obviously   the  most   suitable   location   for   this  purpose.  Thanks   to  an  easy  access   and   state-­‐of-­‐the-­‐art   expo   centre,   the  event  will   especially   act   as   a  hotspot   for   EU-­‐MENA  relations,   attracting   government   delegations,   buyers   and   investors   from   the   whole   Southern  Europe  and  Mediterranean  area.  

Furthermore,   a   renowned   conference   program,   encompassing   50+   international   and   national  events   attended   by   top-­‐level   professionals,   will   provide   the   exhibition   with   an   ideal   place   for  understanding   market   trends,   sharing   and   re-­‐developing   new   business   models   in   a   deeply  changing  scenario.  

Luca   Zingale,   the   scientific   director   of   SOLAREXPO   -­‐   THE   INNOVATION   CLOUD,   sums   up   the  context   of   the   launch   of   the   2014   exhibition:   “Having   been   conceived   as   a   multi-­‐technology  platform,   The   Innovation   Cloud   fully   answers   the   present   needs   of   photovoltaic   companies   to  

 

resolutely  look  at  the  integration  between  innovative  technologies:  storage,  home  automation  for  electricity   consumption,   air   conditioning   with   heat   pumps,   LED   lighting,   electrical   mobility   and  hybrid  plug-­‐ins.  We  will  continue  to  stand  by  solar  energy  companies  and  encourage  them  in  the  difficult  transitional  phase  they  are  currently  facing  at  the  end  of  the  incentives  period.  We  have  a  certainty:  photovoltaic  technology  will  soon  enter  a  new  self-­‐driven  development  phase,  with  full  competitiveness  with  the  grid.  The  market  will  return  to  growth,  in  a  more  steady  way”.  

Regarding   the   diversified   sectors   of   renewable   sources   for   heating   and   energy   efficiency   in  buildings  and  plants,  Luca  Zingale  underlines  that  “it  is  very  positive  that  tax  credit  of  50  and  65%  have  been  planned,  for  the  first  time,  over  a  three-­‐year  period,  running  until  2016.  

SOLAREXPO  -­‐  THE  INNOVATION  CLOUD  will  therefore  be  the  perfect  setting  for  all  the  companies  of  this  sector  to  fully  take  advantage  of  the  signs  of  economic  recovery  in  our  Country  next  spring”.  

Among   the  exhibitors   who   immediately   confirmed   their   participation   in   the   2014   edition  were  Power-­‐One,   now   with   ABB,   the   world   heavyweight   of   energy   technologies,   whose   managing  director   Averaldo   Farri,   also   deputy   chairman   of   ANIE/GIFI   (the   Italian   Photovoltaic   Industry  Association),  commented:  “We  are  deeply  aware  that  the  future  of  the  energy  sector  will  depend  on  Italy's  huge  opportunity  to  act  as  one  of  the  world  players  in  the  revolution  generated  by  clean  energies.   This   gives   us   strength   and   hope.   It   is   therefore   essential   for   us   to   participate   in  SOLAREXPO  –  THE  INNOVATION  CLOUD  2014:  an  important  role  for  the  future  of  our  country  is  at  stake  and  we  have  to  inspire  those  who  unfortunately  have  not  yet  recognised  this  fact”.
