Events will begin at 9 a.m. in the Goodwin Performing Arts Center and continue on the fourth floor of Buhl Hall on the campus of Waynesburg University. Student Media Conference is a one-day conference for high school students from Greene, Fayette, Washington and Westmoreland counties interested in the newspaper industry, yearbooks production and public relations. The event is open to individual students and school groups. Students will participate in seminars given by guest speakers and professionals in the fields of journalism, public relations and yearbook design. Approximately eight programs will be offered. The programs include sports reporting, newspaper headline writing, design elements in yearbook production and media convergence issues, among others. “We hope to provide participating students with an enriching experience,” said Richard Krause, assistant professor of communication and chair of the Department of Communication at Waynesburg University. “The conference will help high school students develop new skills that they can use to improve their newspaper and year book production at their school.” Waynesburg University communication students assisted in the planning and coordination of the event. WAYNESBURG, PA—Waynesburg University will hold its annual Student Media Conference Thursday, Oct. 28. Events will begin at 9 a.m. in the Goodwin Performing Arts Center and continue on the fourth floor of Buhl Hall on the campus of Waynesburg University.
