Geneva/Mladá Boleslav, March 2014 – ŠKODA goes up tempo. At the Geneva

Motor Show (4 to 16 March 2014), the car manufacturer emphasises the

dynamism of its brand with a whole series of new models and variants.

The crowning glory of ŠKODA’s presence in Geneva is the spectacular coupé

study “ŠKODA VisionC”, taking ŠKODA’s dynamic model and design

developments over recent years up to the next level. As a world premiere,

the brand is revealing the new ŠKODA Octavia Scout and the new ŠKODA

Octavia G-TEC with natural gas propulsion. The new ŠKODA Octavia is on show

for the first time with top-of-the-range Laurin & Klement. ŠKODA is also

launching three new Monte Carlo special models with sport trim for the ŠKODA

Yeti, the ŠKODA Rapid Spaceback and the ŠKODA Citigo. In 2013 the car

manufacturer delivered 920,800 vehicles to customers throughout the world.

It was the second-best sales year in the company’s history.

“ŠKODA is right on track with its expansion,” says ŠKODA CEO Prof. Dr. h.c. Winfried

Vahland. “Eight new or redesigned models in 2013 show the power of ŠKODA as a brand.

With ‘ŠKODA VisionC’ we now herald the next phase in ŠKODA’s design language,

making it clear that this is a brand on the move. In the wake of the largest model

offensive in the company’s history, we will be regenerating and expanding our range over

the coming years. We intend to hold onto traditional ŠKODA values while integrating new

sophisticated design and intensifying the brand’s emotional charisma,” says

Prof. Dr. Vahland.

In this way, the Czech manufacturer is building seamlessly upon the technical successes

of past years. The starting point and design landmark for the current model offensive

was the “ŠKODA VisionD” design study at the beginning of 2011. Since then, ŠKODA has

expanded its portfolio from five to seven model lines. ŠKODA’s city car Citigo and the

compact cars ŠKODA Rapid and Rapid Spaceback have been newly integrated into the

range. The ŠKODA Octavia – by far the brand’s strongest seller – has really taken off in

its new, now third generation, transforming itself into the ultimate winner with two-figure

growth rates. The compact SUV ŠKODA Yeti has been completely revised and is now

available in two exciting variants Yeti and Yeti Outdoor. ŠKODA’s flagship model,

the Superb, has also received a comprehensive facelift with new design and technical

features.

Design study “ŠKODA VisionC” – emotionally charged

The “ŠKODA VisionC” design study on show in Geneva is a milestone on the brand’s

design language. “In recent years, ŠKODA has established itself as a high-volume brand

in international automobile markets,” says Werner Eichhorn, ŠKODA Board Member

for Sales and Marketing. “The brand has been placing increasing emphasis on

technology, design, functionality and internationality. We are continuing along this route.

Our vehicles are becoming more expressive, dynamic and emotionally-charged,” says

Eichhorn.

“ŠKODA VisionC” is the design study of a dynamically elegant five-door coupé.

The vehicle is impressive with its expressive design, pure lines and perfect proportions.

At the same time, this ŠKODA design study is sophisticated in terms of functionality and

environmental friendliness. It is generously spacious, as we have come to expect

of ŠKODA, with an innovative natural gas drive system and excellent aerodynamic

efficiency.

By launching a five-door coupé, a first for the brand, ŠKODA is also making it clear that

this manufacturer is not afraid of new vehicle concepts. “The ‘ŠKODA VisionC’ is an

emotional icon, a clear signal of the dynamism of a brand that is forging ahead,” says

Eichhorn.

ŠKODA Octavia Scout – an all-rounder ready for adventure

The new ŠKODA Octavia Scout is celebrating its world launch in Geneva. With the new

edition, the Czechs are presenting their best ever Octavia Scout. The crossover-model is

a true scout, with robust off-road looks, outstanding drive qualities even on difficult

ground, powerful modern all-wheel drive and innovative technology. In addition to its

versatility, the new ŠKODA Octavia Scout has all the best qualities of the new Octavia:

highly functional, wonderfully spacious, with an excellent value and up-to-date safety and

comfort systems.

This vehicle has real character. With its striking adventurous looks, this multi-talented

performer cuts just as good a figure on the streets as it does off-road. Distinctive visual

features are powerful front and rear bumpers and all-round plastic mouldings. Ground

clearance has been raised to 171 mm making it 33 mm higher than the standard Octavia

and there are some Scout-specific design features in the interior.

All-wheel drive technology provides excellent drive quality even off-road. The all-wheel

drive utilises a fifth-generation Haldex clutch. The new Octavia Scout wins points too for

excellent steep-slope performance and high traction capacity. The Octavia Scout also has

an innovative rear multi-link axle.

There are two diesel and one petrol engine to choose from, with engine capacities up to

135 kW. By comparison with the previous model, emissions and consumption values for

the new Octavia Scout have been significantly reduced (by 20 percent on average).

ŠKODA has been offering a Scout variant of the Octavia since 2007. By the end of 2013

a total of around 53,600 Octavia Scouts had been sold. This represents almost 8% of the

total number of Octavia Combis delivered over that period.

ŠKODA Octavia G-TEC – affordable technology that cares for the environment

Also under the spotlight at the world premiere in Geneva is the new ŠKODA Octavia G-

TEC – the first mass-produced Octavia with natural gas drive. “ŠKODA has rigorously

reduced consumption and emissions in the development of its vehicles,” says Dr. Frank

Welsch, ŠKODA Board Member for Technical Development and Design. The new Octavia

G-TEC represents an important milestone and has enhanced the ŠKODA range with

particularly environmentally-friendly and affordable models.

The ŠKODA Octavia G-TEC is the ultimate fuel economiser. The maximum range of the

1.4 TSI/81 kW Octavia G-TEC is 1,330 km. The engine can use both compressed natural

gas (CNG) and petrol fuels. Two full gas tanks will last a distance of up to 410 km. When

the CNG tanks are empty, the vehicle switches over automatically to run on petrol.

Running entirely on petrol, the range is up to 920 km. The Octavia G-TEC comes fitted

with the environmentally-friendly Green tec package (start-stop system and brake

energy recovery as standard). Fuel consumption is 5.4 m3 (3.5 kg) natural gas

per 100 km with CO2 emissions of just 97 g/km.

The environmentally-friendly natural gas drive is available for both the ŠKODA Octavia

and the ŠKODA Octavia Combi. The Octavia is the Czech manufacturer’s second natural

gas vehicle. ŠKODA has had a natural gas variant for the Citigo city car in its range since

the end of 2011.

Natural gas drive is an important pillar of ŠKODA’s sustainability strategy. Outstanding

environmental values are offered by the economical, low-emission ŠKODA GreenLine

models. Currently there are 97 ŠKODA models with emission values below

120 g CO2/km, 17 of which have values under 100 g CO2/km.

ŠKODA Octavia L&K – exclusive elegance

The ŠKODA Octavia L&K launched in Geneva communicates exclusive elegance.

L&K stands for Laurin & Klement, the founding fathers of the Czech brand. The classy

L&K package is available for the Octavia and the Octavia Combi.

L&K features include: 18-inch aluminium wheels, bi-xenon headlamps with LED daytime

driving lights and LED rear lights. In the interior there is a 4-spoke multifunction steering

wheel, leather/Alcantara seats in elegant brown, the CANTON sound system and newly-

designed decorative trims.

The new Octavia L&K forges ahead with three powerful engines: the 1.8 TSI/132 kW

petrol engine and two diesel engines: the 2.0 TDI/110 kW and the 2.0 TDI/135 kW.

The 1.8 TSI/132 kW and 2.0 TDI/110 kW engines are available either with manual

or automatic DSG transmission. The 1.8 TSI with 6-speed DSG is also available with all-

wheel drive, as is the manual transmission 2.0 TDI/110 kW. The top-of-the line

2.0 TDI/135 kW engine with combined 6-speed DSG and all-wheel drive will be

introduced in the second half of 2014.

The ŠKODA Monte Carlo model family expands to five models

In Geneva, ŠKODA will set a decidedly sporty tone with the simultaneous launch of three

special Monte Carlo editions. For the first time, the manufacturer will present Monte Carlo

variants of the ŠKODA Citigo, ŠKODA Yeti and ŠKODA Rapid Spaceback. With the

existing ŠKODA Fabia and ŠKODA Fabia Combi, there will now be five Monte Carlo special

models available from ŠKODA.

These sportily-designed vehicles have impressive black aluminium wheels in sizes 15 to

17 inches, dark-tinted rear and back side windows (SunSet) and distinctive design

features in black. The Yeti and the Rapid Spaceback Monte Carlo have a black roof.

The interior of the Monte Carlo models have a special red-stitched steering wheel, black

interior and sports seats with distinct fabric design.

These special models represent ŠKODA’s successes in motorsport. The manufacturer has

one of the longest histories in motorsport and has collected countless victories on the

international motorsport scene, including in the Monte Carlo Rally. 2013 was one of the

most successful years in the history of ŠKODA motorsport with the European Rally

Championship, the Asia-Pacific Rally, the South American Rally Championship and six

other national championship titles.

The model offensive continues in 2014

In 2014 ŠKODA will continue the biggest model offensive of the company’s history with

renewed vigour. The attractive model range, good order intake and increasing positive

signs in the European automobile markets give ŠKODA reason to be confident for 2014.

The brand had a successful start in 2014. 80,900 vehicles were sold in January,

16.5 per cent more than in the same period of the previous year. These are ŠKODA’s

best ever January sales results.

In the years to come, the manufacturer wants to increase world sales to at least

1.5 million vehicles per year. In addition, the company will be launching on average one

new or redesigned model every six months.

Together with the model offensive, the company will intensify its sales activities on the

European and international markets. In addition to Europe, there will be a special focus

on the growth markets of China, Russia and India.

In China local production of the new Octavia for the Chinese market will commence in

the spring of 2014. With the launch of the third generation of this best-selling ŠKODA

model in China, the company intends to further develop its position in its strongest sales

market. In January 2014 the manufacturer increased its output in China by 27.3 per cent

to 27,500 units and sold more cars in that country in one month than ever before.

One important cornerstone of ŠKODA’s plans for international growth is Russia. Russia is

ŠKODA’s third strongest market worldwide and second-strongest in Europe. ŠKODA

produces cars in Russia at two sites: in Nizhny Novgorod in collaboration with the

Russian GAZ Group and at the Kaluga Volkswagen plant. The ŠKODA Rapid will

commence production there in the spring of 2014.

In India ŠKODA celebrated the exhibition premiere of the completely revised ŠKODA

Superb and the completely redesigned ŠKODA Yeti at the beginning of February 2014.

In the middle of 2013, ŠKODA also introduced the new ŠKODA Octavia to the

subcontinent.

2013 a record year with eight new or completely redesigned models

2013 was a challenging year but ŠKODA showed its strengths. With eight new or

completely redesigned vehicles, 2013 was a record year for the Czech manufacturer.

With an entire series of model launches, the manufacturer achieved a volume of

920,800 vehicle deliveries to customers; its second-best sales result in the company’s

entire history. ŠKODA made encouraging gains in the second half of the year in

particular, when the new models became fully available.

The new ŠKODA Octavia has proved to be a real hit with high two-figure growth rates in

Europe. In the period between September and December 2013, Octavia sales in Western

Europe alone rose by around 17 per cent compared to the same period the previous

year. The new ŠKODA Octavia continues ‘on a roll’. At the beginning of 2014 its sales in

Western Europe rose by 40.2 per cent.

Geneva/Mladá Boleslav, March 2014 – ŠKODA’s dynamic model and design

offensive has stepped up a level. In Geneva the Czech vehicle manufacturer

presents the spectacular “ŠKODA VisionC” design study. The five-door coupé,

with its emotionally-charged design, is pioneering the next stage in the

development of ŠKODA design, demonstrating the opportunities for innovative

body concepts at the same time. “ŠKODA VisionC” impresses with its expressive

and dynamical design language as well as with ultra-modern technical features,

low emissions, light weight and optimised aerodynamics.

“ŠKODA is on the move,” says ŠKODA CEO Prof. Dr. h.c. Winfried Vahland. “The

‘VisionD’, just three years ago, was the starting point and design milestone for our model

offensive. With ‘ŠKODA VisionC’ ŠKODA‘s model and design development of recent years

has entered a new stage. Greater priority is being placed on design, proving the

emotional charisma and power of the ŠKODA brand. ‘ŠKODA VisionC’ shows off the

company‘s outstanding design and engineering skills while highlighting the dynamism

and importance of one of the longest-established vehicle brands. Over the coming years

we intend to grow with the launch of ever more sophisticated cars and consolidate our

position as an international high-volume manufacturer,” says Prof. Dr. Vahland.

Maximum elegance, dynamism and style

“ŠKODA VisionC” is a five-door coupé with expressive styling and dynamic elegance. Its

design language is a striking development of the new design line adopted three years

ago. Elegant lines accentuate the vehicle’s exciting proportions. ŠKODA Chief designer

Jozef Kabaň and his team have achieved a unique combination of soft, light contours,

concave and convex surfaces as well as sharp, precise lines. Surfaces and proportions

convince with a clear structure, the interplay of light and shade is crisp, the edges are

clearly defined. For Kabaň, “avoiding all ornament and frills is essential.”

A self-assured front

The coupé’s front has a self-assured and dynamic look. The wide radiator grille and

distinctive shape of the headlamps with their tapering triangular form dominate the

powerful front end. The headlamp contours are sharp-edged, like cut glass crystals.

In combination with the fog lamps, also triangular, they give the car an expressive,

three-dimensional four-eyed look.

The grille retains its slightly curving form, it is however somewhat flatter and broader

than in current ŠKODA models. The vertical fins are a distinguishing feature. In the

design study, they are hand-made crystal elements with discreet indirect illumination.

In the lower area of the front view, a large air inlet – extending over the entire width

of the vehicle – emphasises the vehicle’s elegant dynamism.

The bonnet is elongated and is accentuated with longitudinal chamfering to the right and

left, extending in a slight arc from the A pillar through to the transition between

headlamps and radiator grille. Jozef Kabaň describes it as “an expression of emotion,

form and movement.” This reinterpreted bonnet bears the ŠKODA logo as its dominating

centrepiece, on a harmoniously-rounded bonnet nose stretching into the radiator grille.

Dynamically elegant coupé silhouette with sharp tornado line

From the side view, “ŠKODA VisionC” appears neat with clean lines. “The form is

intended to look attractive. We have dispensed with superfluous corners and edges,”

says Kabaň. The high tornado line, the low-lying front windscreen and the short

overhangs emphasise the vehicle’s dynamic distinctiveness. The same goes also in

particular for the sharp waistline which starts on the elegant bonnet at the wings, snugly

and naturally hugging the sides.

The powerful, sleek silhouette, the roofline sloping gently down at the back over the

C pillar, the fine flowing lines without visible gradations, frameless side windows and the

strong side-transition to the tail – all this is aesthetically pure.

Typically for a ŠKODA, the lower side window line slopes gradually backwards, sweeping

down to the rear side window of the back door. This ŠKODA design feature described by

the designers as a ‘fin’ was first used in the brand’s model design on the new ŠKODA

Octavia, and is continued in the “ŠKODA VisionC” as a distinctive feature.

The door handles of the “ŠKODA VisionC” are a feature in themselves. The designers

have simply made them ‘disappear’. The door handles – running directly under the

tornado line – are set invisibly into the external door trim. To open the doors, you press

the handle – the door then comes out automatically and can be operated.

Page 10: Press kit - Skoda at the Geneva Motor Show 2014

The rear flanks of the vehicle are particularly exciting due to the broad, striking design of

the wheel arches. The rear lights reach far into the sides of the vehicle, emphasising the

dynamic aspirations of the “ŠKODA VisionC” as well as the long wheelbase. The “ŠKODA

VisionC” features large 19-inch aluminium wheels.

Rear: unexpected and exciting

The shape of the tail is dynamic, exciting and unexpected. Maximum 3-D design creates

a sculpture-like shape. The new tail light design is a brilliant distinctive touch. The C-

shaped lights, a typical ŠKODA form, are divided into two parts, with the C being

separated horizontally through the middle. The upper part is in the tailgate, housing all

the lighting functions. The lower part of the C is formed by the reflector elements

(cat’s eyes) inset into the bumper.

The vertical closure of the tailgate has a surprising and unique shape. In particular the

sharp, inward crease is a striking accent. This radical rear end has a positive effect on

the drag coefficient CW. Triangular-shaped embossing in the tailgate (described by the

designers as “triangular cubist elements”) clearly identifies the “ŠKODA VisionC”

as a member of the ŠKODA family.

Exacting standards in functionality and eco-friendliness

In addition to its sophisticated design, the “ŠKODA VisionC” is iconic in terms of

functionality and environmental friendliness. The design shows off the conceptual talents

of the ŠKODA engineers: design, technical features, space, functionality and the

emotionally-charged coupé shape combine to make a very impressive package.

The “ŠKODA VisionC” has plenty of space for four people and their luggage. Typically

ŠKODA are the large tailgate and the generous boot space. In addition, state-of-the-art

MQB technology, a close-to-production drive system, light weight and optimised

aerodynamics all demonstrate great potential for ‘sensible’ individual mobility with

optimised environmental values and the best possible value for money.

The “ŠKODA VisionC” has outstanding emission values thanks to the innovative CNG

drive, light bodyweight and excellent aerodynamics. The technology under the bonnet is

an up-to-the-minute and state-of-the-art bivalent 1.4 TSI/81 kW CNG and petrol turbo

engine which will accelerate the vehicle up to a maximum speed of 214 km/h.

In CNG mode, the vehicle only consumes merely 3.4 kg or 5.1 m3 natural gas per

100 kilometres, corresponding to a CO2 output of just 91 g. This value emphasises the

study’s closeness to reality and is significantly below the much-discussed limit decreed by

the European Commission for 2020. Here ŠKODA shows that even attractive mid-range

vehicles with conventional drive technologies can achieve ambitious CO2 values.

Maximising aerodynamics and minimising weight were priorities for the ŠKODA

engineers. Perfect interaction between design and technical enhancements have resulted

in a drag coefficient for the “ŠKODA VisionC” of just 0.26. In terms of weight

optimisation, ŠKODA has used carbon fibre for the gas tanks and extra-light hot-formed

steel. Important bolt-on parts such as the wings, bonnet and doors are in aluminium.

Interior: perfect elegance and comfort

The “ŠKODA VisionC” is a glimpse of ŠKODA interior design of the future. Interior and

exterior design are in harmony, both asserting the overall impression of a sleek, dynamic

and elegant vehicle. Striking interior features include a recurrent elegant interplay of

convex and concave surfaces, precise lines and the use of top quality, state-of-the-art

materials.

In the coupé, four individual seats provide plenty of room for four people to sit in

comfort. Despite the coupé-style silhouette, the vehicle is spacious. The accentuated

horizontals emphasise the feeling of airy spaciousness. All instruments and controls are

laid out in accordance with up-to-date ergonomic requirements, just in the right place.

The infotainment system sets clear benchmarks with data processing and presentation

of all relevant information on large displays for driver and passengers.

In front of the driver there is a fully-programmable combined unit with a large 3-D

display. The attention-grabbing centrepiece of the dashboard is the touch-sensitive

multimedia screen which projects gracefully from the dashboard, seeming to be hung-up

in the interior. The visual effect is intensified by accents of back-lighting. Additional

brilliance is provided by the finely polished glass structure – another reference to the art

of the Bohemian glassmakers.

The air-conditioning controls are accommodated under the screen, on the decorative

glass surface in the central console.

The transition between dashboard and doors is particularly elegant. A continuous ‘light

line’ unites both elements visually, at the same time emphasising the breadth of the

vehicle. The light line runs over the entire width of the door, circles the armrests and

ends in the seat-belt tensioner. Additional visual accents are provided in the doors with

backlit crystal decorative elements. Nevertheless, functional aspects are by no means

neglected, including storage compartments for one-litre bottles.

Each rear passenger also has a foldaway multimedia screen. A screen integrated into the

back section of the central arm rest shows basic information on vehicle operation.

Comfort for the rear passengers is of paramount importance. Individually-adjustable air-

outlets are integrated into the backrests. The rear headrests retract into the backrests

when not in use, so that the driver has a clear view behind him when there are no rear

passengers. When required, the headrests are simply flipped up. There are reading lamps

in the sides of both rear doors.

The large boot of the “ŠKODA VisionC” is impressively spacious. The tailgate swings open

wide, making loading and unloading quick and easy. Moreover, the luggage space has

a range of ‘Simply Clever’ solutions such as bag hooks or straps integrated into the boot

floor for securing luggage. On the sidewalls there are lockable compartments for small

items.

Geneva/Mladá Boleslav, March 2014 – The new ŠKODA Octavia is a true scout.

The new ŠKODA Octavia Scout, on its world premiere launch in Geneva,

is a unique all-rounder with outstanding driving performance even on rough

roads; it has a powerful all-wheel drive and a robust off-road look. At the same

time this crossover vehicle has all the outstanding qualities of the new ŠKODA

Octavia. It is spacious, highly practical and has up-to-date safety and comfort

systems. The new Octavia Scout offers the best possible value for money.

Compared to the previous model, the emission and fuel-consumption values of

the new Octavia Scout have been reduced by 20 per cent on average.

“The new ŠKODA Octavia Scout is an extremely versatile all-rounder and demonstrates

the strengths of the ŠKODA brand,” says ŠKODA CEO Prof. Dr. h.c. Winfried Vahland.

“A true scout has to earn that name at ŠKODA. The Octavia Scout has a rugged character

with outstanding all-wheel and steep-slope performance. Traction capacity and ground

clearance are excellent. Combined with its powerful off-road look, high-performance

engines with low fuel consumption, the ultimate in safety and infotainment technology,

as much room as you could wish for and not least, some fabulous features – the new

ŠKODA Octavia Scout meets the highest technical, aesthetic and lifestyle standards.

More and more customers ask for cars with individual appeal and the new ŠKODA

Octavia Scout is the answer,” says Prof. Dr. Vahland.

The new Octavia Scout is based exclusively on the Octavia Combi. Its market launch is

planned for September 2014. The Octavia Scout has been a fixed feature in ŠKODA’s

model range since 2007. With its second Scout generation, the Czech manufacturer

intends to build further upon the success of these versatile vehicles. Between 2007 and

the end of 2013, ŠKODA delivered around 53,600 Octavia Scouts to customers

Page 14: Press kit - Skoda at the Geneva Motor Show 2014

worldwide. This represents almost 8 per cent of all Octavia Combi vehicles supplied

during that period.

Powerful personality

A glance at the new ŠKODA Octavia Scout will tell you that this is a vehicle with a style

all its own – self-assured and distinctive. “The Octavia Scout has character: its striking

looks and all-wheel-drive technology are the perfect combination,” says ŠKODA head

designer Jozef Kabaň.

The brand’s new design idiom suits the Octavia Scout particularly well. Perfect

proportions, edgy, pared down to the essentials – the brand is a symbol of top quality

design, giving ample scope for this compact adventurer’s unique identity.

The front has a distinctive, Scout-specific bumper with black plastic moulding. This front

bumper has stronger contours than the one on the standard Octavia. Below the broad,

central honeycomb air inlet, the bumper is also emphasised by a silver off-road

attachment. The sharp embossed fog lights are an exclusive Scout design. They are

integrated into the right and left sides of the lower part of the bumper. The radiator grille

in new ŠKODA design bears the Scout badge.

The ŠKODA designers have given the side view of the new ŠKODA Octavia Scout

a significantly more muscular and robust aspect, in keeping with the front. Black side

mouldings provide a surround for door sill and wheel arches and extend over both sides

of the vehicle. There are also black plastic side protection mouldings. The exterior mirror

housings come in an aluminium design as standard. Aluminium-effect roof railings are

also available as an option.

The ground clearance of the new ŠKODA Octavia Scout has been raised to

171 millimetres and is now 33 millimetres higher than the standard Octavia.

The standard rough-road package prevents the underbody from being damaged

mechanically or dirt from penetrating the engine compartment under more rugged

conditions. There are additional plastic protective covers for underbody components as

well as the brake and petrol lines.

17-inch aluminium wheels are fitted as standard. The tyres are higher than in the

standard Octavia and are size 225/50 R17.

Typically ŠKODA, the rear of the Octavia Scout is precision-designed with clean,

uncluttered lines, showing the basic shape of the characteristic C-lamp design and the

new triangular elements. The lower rear area is strongly emphasised. As in the front,

here again, a distinctive bumper gives the Octavia Scout a unique look. Two reflectors

are integrated into the right and left of the bumper (cat’s eyes). The lower black-clad

bumper components include a silver-coloured off-road attachment in the middle. The left

side of the tailgate bears the ŠKODA signature and on the right is the Scout lettering.

Page 15: Press kit - Skoda at the Geneva Motor Show 2014

The ŠKODA Octavia Scout’s interior is also full of character. The front door sills bear the

Scout lettering and the door trims are in a unique Scout design. The dashboard is in

classic black or in a black/brown combination.

The Octavia Scout comes as standard with a 3-spoke multifunction leather steering wheel

with an integral Scout emblem. The gear knob also bears a Scout badge. There are two

seat cover designs to choose from: in fabric (brown) or in leather/Alcantara combination

(two colour options: black or brown).

The Octavia Scout is as spacious as the Octavia Combi. The passenger compartment is

one of the largest in its class, with optimised interior length (1,782 millimetres), rear

legroom (73 millimetres) and headroom at front and rear (983 and 995 millimetres).

The boot has a 610 litre capacity, and, with the rear seats down, the capacity increases

to 1,740 litres. With the front passenger seat folded down, items up to 2.92 meters in

length can be transported.

The Scout also has a series of ‘Simply Clever’ features such as the double-sided floor

cover in the boot, the folding cargo element, the ice scraper in the fuel filler flap,

the high-visibility vest holder under the driver’s seat, waste compartment in the side

door and many storage compartments.

The ŠKODA Octavia Scout is available in the entire Octavia exterior colour range. It

includes four plain colours and nine metallic colours including a new colour Laser White.

Outstanding drive capabilities with state-of-the-art Haldex-5 all-wheel drive

technology

The Octavia Scout is available exclusively with all-wheel drive. Optimum drive capabilities

and traction capacity (on and off road) are guaranteed by state-of-the-art all-wheel-

drive technology based on the Haldex-5 clutch. Key features: optimised driving

dynamics, maximum active safety and fuel economy. Compared with the Haldex-4 clutch

previously used in the Octavia Scout, the new technology is 1.4 kg lighter.

The all-wheel-drive system is intelligent and responds extremely rapidly. The control unit

continuously calculates the ideal driving torque for the rear axle. Thanks to the control

unit constantly monitoring the driving conditions, loss of traction is almost ruled out.

When coasting or with a light load, the front axle becomes the driving axle, which saves

fuel.

The ŠKODA Octavia Scout is a real workhorse. The vehicle will pull up to 2.0 tonnes –

i.e. it has 25% more traction than before. It also has excellent steep-slope capability.

With greater angles of incline from 16.7 degrees at the front and 13.8 degrees at the

back, the scout can also master steeper, more demanding terrain without difficulty.

Page 16: Press kit - Skoda at the Geneva Motor Show 2014

Electronic differential lock (EDL) supports stable start-up characteristics at low speeds in

the Octavia Scout. EDL operates on the front and rear axle and acts as an inter-wheel

lock. If a wheel should spin when driving off on difficult ground, the drive force is

transmitted to the opposite wheel. Braking is then applied specifically to the spinning

wheel.

Three engines; premiere for the 2.0 TDI/135 kW with DSG and all-wheel drive

The new ŠKODA Octavia Scout has three engines to choose from: two diesel and one

petrol engine. The units are both more powerful and more economical than the engines

used in the previous model. Nevertheless, they are up to 29 kg lighter. All engines

feature improved all-wheel drive technology and the use of efficient Green tec packages

with automatic start-stop mechanism and brake energy recovery as standard. All three

engines meet standard EU-6 which comes into force in September 2014.

The top diesel engine for the ŠKODA Octavia Scout is the 2.0 TDI/135 kW (184 hp)

with an attractive combination of an automatic six-speed dual-clutch transmission (DSG)

and all-wheel drive. This is the first time that the engine has been used in this

configuration in a ŠKODA. The Octavia Scout 2.0 TDI/135 kW has a top speed of

219 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.8 seconds, making this the

fastest accelerating ŠKODA diesel engine. Maximum torque: 380 Nm between 1,750 and

3,000 rpm. Combined fuel consumption is only 5.4 litres/100 km. This engine has

a CO2 emission of 143 g/km.

Even the ‘smaller’ diesel engine and the petrol engine give maximum efficiency and

maximum power. The 2.0 TDI/110 kW (150 hp) is available exclusively with manual

six-speed transmission. The engine manages 4.9 litres/100 km with a CO2 emission value

of 129 g/km. The 110 kW engine accelerates the Octavia Scout from 0 to 100 km/h in

9.1 seconds. Its top speed is 207 km/h.

The Octavia Scout is available as a petrol engine with the 1.8 TSI/132 kW (180 hp)

with automatic six-gear DSG. Combined consumption is 7.1 litres/100 km and the

CO2 emissions achieve 159 g/km. Maximum torque of 280 Nm is achieved at between

1,350 and 4,500 rpm. Top speed: 216 km/h. The petrol engine accelerates the Octavia

Scout from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.8 seconds.

Modern chassis with rear multi-link axle

Thanks to its innovative axles, the new ŠKODA Octavia Scout impresses with excellent

vehicle handling in almost every situation. It has an innovative multi-link rear axle. It

is 4 kg lighter than the previous model. The MacPherson front axle with low-mounted

triangular wishbone suspension, by means of material optimisation and structural

improvements, has shed around 2.8 kg compared to the previous model.

The ultimate in safety and comfort

In addition to its off-road capabilities, the new ŠKODA Octavia Scout offers all the

outstanding features of the new ŠKODA Octavia. Its safety technology sets the highest

standards. Up to nine airbags and state-of-the-art 3-point seatbelts protect the

occupants in the event of an accident. Optional extras are Front Assistant with

emergency braking function, Lane Assistant, multi-collision brake with automatic braking

in the event of an accident, Crew Protect Assistant for vehicle safety in crash situations

and Driver Activity Assistant (fatigue recognition).

As additional options, a number of electronic comfort systems are available: Adaptive

Cruise Assistant (automatic distance control), Intelligent Light Assistant, Automatic

Parking Assistant and Traveller Assistant with traffic sign recognition. One of the new

Octavia Scout’s optional features is KESSY (Keyless Entry Start and Exit System).

Other new technical and comfort features will also be available for the Octavia Scout.

The vehicle can be supplied with Optical Parking Assistant (rear-view camera) and a new

steering wheel in Super sport design. The Swing radio now comes with a 5" colour touch

display.

With the new Octavia Scout, ŠKODA once again displays its great expertise in equipping

vehicles for off-road capability. With the models Octavia Scout, Fabia Scout, Fabia Combi

Scout, Roomster Scout, Yeti Outdoor and Superb with the Outdoor package, the Czech

car manufacturer currently offers six models with special off-road styling.

CNG offensive:

The new ŠKODA Octavia G-TEC

› World premiere in Geneva: new ŠKODA Octavia with CNG natural gas drive

› Environmentally-friendly: just 5.4 m3 (3.5 kg) natural gas per 100 kilometres

(97 g CO2/km)

› The ultimate in fuel economy: up to 1,330 km with natural gas and petrol

› High performance technology: bivalent turbo engine 1.4 TSI/81 kW

› Starting signal for the newest member of the ‘green’ ŠKODA model family:

there are already 97 ŠKODA models under 120 g CO2/km, 17 of which are

below 100 g CO2/km

Geneva/Mladá Boleslav, March 2014 – Expanding its environmentally-friendly

model range, ŠKODA is renewing its emphasis on CNG (CNG = compressed

natural gas) vehicles. The most recent example of this is the new ŠKODA

Octavia G-TEC, which will be given its world premiere at the Geneva Motor

Show. This means that the manufacturer’s best-selling model by far will be

going into mass production for the first time with CNG drive. ŠKODA‘s best

seller is the Czech manufacturer’s second CNG model after the ŠKODA Citigo

CNG Green tec. It goes on sale in May. CNG drive is available for the Octavia

and Octavia Combi.

“ŠKODA aims to rigorously reduce consumption and emissions in the development of its

vehicles,” says Dr. Frank Welsch, ŠKODA Board Member for Technical Development and

Design. “CNG drive is an important pillar of our sustainability strategy. CNG is a practical

way forward for environmentally-friendly driving and is good value for money these days.

In this way we can meet customer demand for environmentally-friendly, economical and

affordable vehicles. The new Octavia G-TEC is an environmental icon in the compact class

and makes our best-selling series even more attractive,” says Welsch.

The Octavia G-TEC is as well as the Octavia Scout the latest variant of the new ŠKODA

Octavia after the Octavia, Octavia Combi, Octavia 4×4 Combi and the sporty Octavia RS.

The vehicle is being launched in 15 European countries: Belgium, Denmark, Germany,

Finland, France, Italy, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Sweden,

Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia and the Czech Republic.

Bivalent turbo engine 1.4 TSI/81 kW Green tec with a range of up to 1,330 km

The new ŠKODA Octavia G-TEC has a 1.4 TSI turbo engine with a capacity of 81 kW

(110 hp). The Green tec package with the start-stop system and brake energy recovery

is included as standard. The modern unit meets standard EU-6 which comes into force in

September 2014.

Page 19: Press kit - Skoda at the Geneva Motor Show 2014

ŠKODA Media Services: http://media.skoda-auto.com, [email protected] ŠKODA AUTO a.s., Tř. V. Klementa 869, 293 60 Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic

Press Release, Page 2 of 4

The range of the new Octavia G-TEC is impressive: even in CNG-only mode, the Octavia

G-TEC can travel up to 410 km without refuelling. Fuel consumption is 5.4 m3 (3.5 kg)

natural gas per 100 km with CO2 emissions of just 97 g/km. In petrol-only mode, the

range is up to 920 km. The Octavia G-TEC will travel up to 1,330 km on a single tank

of fuel.

For all the Octavia G-TEC’s fuel economy, it is still a fun car to drive. The maximum

torque of 200 Nm is achieved between 1,500 and 3,500 rpm. The Octavia G-TEC

accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.9 seconds. Top speed is 195 km/h.

The engine is bivalent, i.e. it can run on CNG and petrol. The vehicle’s electronics

constantly monitor parameters like coolant temperature and the quality of the CNG in the

tanks, so determining the optimum fuel mode. With a coolant temperature of below

minus 10 degrees centigrade (cold start), petrol is injected first, switching to CNG drive

only after approximately 90 to 120 seconds. Otherwise even on start-up, the general rule

is CNG first! Not until the gas tanks are empty does the vehicle switch to petrol.

Switchover is automatic. The petrol tank has a 50 litre capacity.

The CNG and petrol levels are displayed on a single fuel gauge. Depending on which

mode the vehicle is operating in, the fuel gauge switches to petrol or CNG display. If the

vehicle is running on CNG, the fuel level can be read on the CNG display and a green

indicator lamp will light up. In petrol mode, the petrol level will be displayed on the same

scale. The green indicator light will be off. The travel distance before refuelling is needed

in CNG and petrol mode can also be checked visually on the on-board computer.

Refuelling with CNG is very simple. The connection for the pressure valve is directly

behind the filler-cap flap, where you will also find the petrol filler nozzle.

The two CNG tanks have a total maximum capacity of 97 litres or 15 kg of CNG

at a pressure of 200 bar. They are in the form of underbody tanks on a special frame

underneath the floor of the boot. ŠKODA has created extra space by dispensing with the

spare-wheel cavity and slightly raising the boot floor. The ingenious position of the tanks

means that the generous size of the interior is not affected. The CNG-fuelled Octavia also

represents the best interior values in its class. The boot has a capacity of 460 litres

(saloon) or 480 litres (estate).

Technical engine optimisation for bivalent use

For bivalent configuration, the ŠKODA engineers have made various technical

modifications to the engine. The system has been provided with a new control unit which

manages the operation of both fuel types and, amongst other things, controls the CNG

injection nozzles. On the gas distributor there is a temperature and pressure sensor.

The valve opening of the camshaft has also been adapted for CNG operation.

Page 20: Press kit - Skoda at the Geneva Motor Show 2014

As natural gas has lower lubricity than petrol, the valves and seats of the inlet and

exhaust valves have been modified. The exhaust valves have also been given a modified

valve-stem seal. For optimum CNG ignition, spark plugs with an appropriate heat value

are used.

Furthermore, the engineers have optimised the turbine area and the turbocharger

control characteristics. The new configuration and the size of the catalytic layer in the

three-way catalytic convertor have a positive effect on the exhaust values of the ŠKODA

Octavia G-TEC.

The vehicle setup has been selectively adjusted to allow for the additional weight of the

CNG tanks and the modified weight distribution. The chassis is based on the multi-link

rear axle and the MacPherson front axle.

Success of the ŠKODA Citigo CNG Green tec

The new ŠKODA Octavia G-TEC is currently ŠKODA’s second natural gas vehicle.

The ŠKODA Citigo CNG Green tec was launched in October 2012. This clean little car uses

just 4.4 m3 or 2.9 kg natural gas per 100 km and boasts a CO2 output of just 79 g/km.

The total range is 620 km (400 km gas, 220 km petrol). As with the Octavia G-TEC,

here again, two underbody tanks are positioned under the chassis floor to save space.

The Citigo CNG Green tec is proving to be a resounding success. In 2013 ŠKODA

delivered more than 1,300 vehicles to customers in total. One record-breaking journey

last year in particular raised its profile. In August 2013, Austrian fuel-saving champion

Gerhard Plattner drove the Citigo CNG from Italy to Sweden taking five days at an

average fuel consumption of 2.39 kg CNG/100 km. He spent just 81.24 euros on fuel

for the entire 2,619 km journey.

Environmentally-friendly: 97 ŠKODA models under 120 g CO2/km

With the launch of the new ŠKODA Octavia G-TEC, ŠKODA has once more produced an

icon amongst environmentally-friendly vehicles. In addition to CNG drive, this is

supported in particular by the economical, low-emission GreenLine models.

With the exception of the ŠKODA Citigo, for which a CNG variant is available, ŠKODA has

a GreenLine version of every model in its range: from the Fabia through to the Superb.

The GreenLine models feature state-of-the-art fuel-saving technologies such as start-stop

systems, brake energy recovery, low-resistance tyres and specially optimised

aerodynamics and drive train.

The broad range of environmentally-friendly vehicles is at the core of ŠKODA’s intensive

efforts for greater sustainability as part of its ‘GreenFuture’ environmental strategy.

The aim is to make ŠKODA models even more economical and their use of resources

even more sustainable. Currently ŠKODA has 97 models with emission values below

120 g CO2/km, 17 of which have values below 100 g CO2/km.

The second focal point of the GreenFuture strategy is production. By 2018 the

manufacturer wants to reduce energy and water consumption as well as waste and

emission volumes by 25% per vehicle produced. The third GreenFuture pillar is

environmental protection in dealership operations and workshops.

entering the strategically important segment of compact hatchback models,” says ŠKODA

CEO Prof. Dr. h.c. Winfried Vahland. “The Rapid Spaceback is fresh and dynamic.

A compact car with a sporty look, spacious and practical, ideal for young people and

families. The Rapid Spaceback enriches this class and is a perfect combination of an

emotional design with ŠKODA’s good practical qualities,” says Prof. Dr. Vahland.

A sporty-fresh compact car with ample space

Precise lines, dynamic outlines, perfect proportions and a distinctive interplay of light and

shadow – the new ŠKODA Rapid Spaceback is a car with sporty freshness and dynamic

elegance, making it attractive and appealing at first sight.

The ŠKODA Rapid Spaceback’s side view offers really attractive visual accents.

Compared with conventional hatchback models, it appears more dynamic, more

stretched and is marked by clear lines, a long wheelbase (2,602 millimetres) and

a sharp, high tornado line. The Rapid Spaceback has a C and a D pillar with a third side

window. Together with the slender pillars, the generous window areas create a light and

friendly ambiance in the interior and ensure excellent all-round visibility.

Individualism is a focus point in this vehicle: one of the highlights is the huge, optional

panoramic sunroof offering passengers an unobstructed view of the sky stretching

from the windshield to the rear window. Passengers benefit from ample light and

an enhanced feeling of air and space. The sunroof measures 1,713 × 1,155 millimetres

and offers a viewing space of 1,210 × 780 millimetres.

The Rapid Spaceback’s panoramic sunroof appears even more attractive in

combination with the elongated rear window. The glass area extends all the way

from the windshield, over the sunroof and down to the tailgate. The black tinted,

extended rear window reaches roughly ten centimetres farther into the hatchback than

the Rapid Spaceback’s regular rear window. These are the Rapid Spaceback’s two distinct

new style features giving it an exclusive individuality.

The rear end emphasises the dynamic character of the Rapid Spaceback. Its lines are

crisp and clear. A black diffuser element and the reflectors in the bumper put emphasis

on the horizontal orientation as do the broad tail lights in brand-typical ‘C’ design.

The centrally-placed brand logo is flanked by ŠKODA lettering on the left and the RAPID

model name on the right.

The front of the ŠKODA Rapid Spaceback includes the characteristic Rapid elements:

a prominent grille with 19 vertical slats and a chrome frame, the ŠKODA logo on the

rounded front end of the bonnet and the cloverleaf arrangement of the headlights and

fog lights. The Rapid Spaceback comes with an optional xenon package right from market

launch. The optional xenon package includes xenon headlamps as well as fog lamps with

adaptive lights.

Spacious, attractive interior – ‘Simply Clever’ to the core

“With its attractive combination of space, functionality and design, the Rapid Spaceback

is a very roomy vehicle that represents one of our brand’s key values,” says Werner

Eichhorn, ŠKODA Board Member for Sales and Marketing. “As is typical of ŠKODA, the

Rapid Spaceback’s interior space sets a new standard in its class,” says Eichhorn. Though

the exterior of the new Rapid Spaceback measures 18 centimetres less than the Rapid

hatchback, passenger space is just as generous as in the car’s ‘big brother’. In its

segment, the Rapid Spaceback offers the longest legroom (64 millimetres) and the

widest headroom (980 millimetres) in the rear. At 415 litres, or 1,380 litres (when the

rear seat is folded down), boot volumes are among the best in the segment.

Numerous ‘Simply Clever’ solutions complement the generous space: the new Rapid

Spaceback has a double cargo floor in the boot, which can divide the space into two

horizontal levels providing double utility. Furthermore, the Rapid Spaceback offers all

the practical features we are familiar with from the Rapid. This includes the ice scraper

in the centrally lockable fuel filler flap and holder for the warning vest under the driver

seat. There is a double-sided floor cover in the boot and the waste bin in the side door.

Other ‘Simply Clever’ features include a ticket holder, a multimedia holder, cup holders

in the front and rear as well as a parcel shelf that can be stowed vertically behind the

rear seats.

The new Rapid Spaceback also boasts a sporty 3-spoke steering wheel, stylish trim strips

and seat covers in fresh designs.

Safety without compromises

The new ŠKODA Rapid Spaceback offers the high safety standards that have come to be

expected of ŠKODA. A comprehensive safety package protects passengers in case

of an accident. This includes front, side and head level airbags, height-adjustable three-

point safety belts with pre-tensioners in the front and height-adjustable head restraints.

In EU countries, ABS (Antilock Braking System) and ESC (Electronic Stability Control)

systems are standard. Other active safety features are optional xenon headlights,

tyre pressure control, fog lamps with adaptive lights and ‘hill-hold’ assistant.

The Rapid Spaceback is equipped with Column-Electric Power Steering (C-EPS).

With the speed-dependent C-EPS, the driver’s steering motions are supported by

a programme-controlled electric servo motor on the steering column. The key

advantages over previous systems (hydraulics unit with servo pump, hoses and hydraulic

fluid) include reduced weight and a more compact size.

Four petrol, two diesel engines

The ŠKODA Rapid Spaceback range includes four petrol and two diesel engines.

The output of these advanced engines ranges between 55 kW and 90 kW. With the Rapid

Spaceback’s market launch, the 66 kW 1.6 TDI celebrated its premiere in the Rapid

model series and complements the 77 kW 1.6 TDI diesel engine. In the GreenLine variant

(with the 66 kW 1.6 TDI engine), the Rapid Spaceback uses a mere 3.8 litres of fuel

per 100 km. CO2 emissions amount to 99 g/km. Additionally, the 66 kW 1.6 TDI can be

supplied with an automatic seven-speed DSG transmission. All TSI and TDI engines are

also available in the more economical Green tec variants.

Four engines are used for petrol cars. The three-cylinder 55 kW 1.2 MPI and two four-

cylinders 1.2 TSI (63 kW and 77 kW) are available with manual transmission. The most

powerful petrol engine is the 90 kW 1.4 TSI, which is also offered with a seven-speed

DGS transmission.

ŠKODA Octavia RS:

The fastest production Octavia of all time

› Top speed of 248 km/h: the new 162 kW Octavia RS 2.0 TSI accelerates

from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds

› Two engines, both with more power, lower fuel consumption and lower

emissions

› Innovative progressive power steering, safety and comfort assistance systems

› Range: sport suspension with rear multi-link axle and XDS electronic

differential lock

Geneva /Mladá Boleslav, March 2014 – With a top speed of 248 km/h, the new

RS, launched mid-2013, is the fastest production Octavia of all time. The third

RS generation, in both saloon and estate, offers powerful yet efficient engines

and boasts classy design as well as innovative technology. Furthermore, both

variants come with all of the ŠKODA Octavia’s outstanding features: exceptional

functionality, ample room, state-of-the-art safety and comfort assistance

systems and excellent value.

“The new ŠKODA Octavia RS is a racy sports car and a clever compact saloon in one.

It sets new standards in the class and continues the success story of the ŠKODA RS

models,” says ŠKODA CEO Prof. Dr. h.c. Winfried Vahland. From market entry, more

than 115,000 new ŠKODA Octavia RS models have been sold (to 31 January 2014).

Two engines with more power and lower fuel consumption

Customers can choose between a 162 kW (220 hp) two-litre petrol engine and

a 135 kW (184 hp) two-litre diesel engine. Compared with the second-generation

Octavia RS, the new engines deliver notably more power whilst saving up to 19 per cent

in fuel. Both engines are available with a six-speed manual or a six-speed DSG dual

clutch transmission.

With the 162 kW (220 hp) 2.0 TSI petrol engine, the Octavia RS accelerates from

0 to 100 km/h in as little as 6.8 seconds. Despite significantly improved performance,

the new petrol engine with manual transmission is 17 per cent or 1.3 litres/100 km

more economical than its predecessor and only uses a combined 6.2 litres/100 km.

CO2 emissions have dropped by 33 g to 142 g/km.

The 135 kW (184 hp) 2.0 TDI diesel engine also delivers maximum performance and

low fuel consumption. The Octavia RS diesel engine accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h

in 8.1 seconds and reaches a top speed of 232 km/h. The hatch with manual six-speed

transmission averages a combined 4.6 litres/100 km and emits 119 g CO2 per kilometre

– a 19 per cent improvement.

Standard on the new ŠKODA Octavia RS is a 15 mm lower sports chassis. The

MacPherson front axle with lower triangular wishbone suspension provides precise front

wheel tracking. The rear axle uses a multi-link suspension. Standard features also include

the electronic XDS differential lock. The progressive steering provides enhanced handling

and agility.

Sporty design: well-bred and classy

The new ŠKODA Octavia RS conveys pure emotion at first sight. The attractive front

view is a combination of a characteristic grille, striking air inlets with a honeycomb

structure, a dynamic apron and fog lights in the RS design. Fitted as standard are bi-

xenon headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights. Seen from the side, the

body really is lower than the standard Octavia. The ŠKODA Octavia RS has red brake

callipers as standard. The car’s rear is dominated by a strong black diffuser element,

a wide reflector above and trapezoidal chrome tailpipes. The ŠKODA Octavia RS’s

attractive alloy wheels provide just the right sporty touch. The designers have created

a total of four classy 17", 18" and 19" RS wheels.

Sporty black is the dominant colour in the interior of the ŠKODA Octavia RS and there is

an ambient door handle light on the inside of the front doors. For their front seats,

customers can choose custom-designed RS sport seats. A sporty 3-spoke steering wheel

with perforated leather is now one of the standard features. The gearshift knob and the

handbrake handle are also covered in leather. Door sill plates and pedals are stainless

steel. The instrument cluster with a colour Maxi DOT display reflects the exclusive RS

design. The steering wheel, gearshift, door sill plates, seats and floor mats all display the

RS emblem.

Plenty of room, many ‘Simply Clever’ features, maximum safety

In addition to being sporty, the new ŠKODA Octavia RS is equipped with all

of the outstanding features that distinguish the new Octavia. This includes plenty of room

and numerous ‘Simply Clever’ solutions. No other compact sports car offers more than

this model’s 1,782 mm interior length, more legroom (73 mm) and more headroom in

the rear (980 mm). The boot also sets a class record: the RS hatch’s boot volume is

590 litres, the RS estate offers 610 litres.

The new ŠKODA Octavia RS offers a high level of safety. Some of the active safety

systems include Front Assistant with emergency braking, Lane Assistant, the multi-

collision brake with automatic braking action in an accident, Crew Protect Assistant to

protect the vehicle in accidents, and Driver Activity Assistant (driver fatigue detection).

In the event of an accident, a comprehensive package of passive safety systems

maximises the protection of the driver and passengers. Up to nine airbags work to

protect driver and passengers from injuries, including knee airbags (standard in EU

countries) and optional rear side airbags.

Innovative comfort systems

There is hardly anything left to be desired in terms of driver and passenger comfort.

The new ŠKODA Octavia RS can be fitted with Adaptive Cruise Assistant. Intelligent Light

Assistant improves comfort and safety. Automatic Park Assistant helps guide parking

manoeuvres. The traffic sign recognition is part of the Traveller Assistant package and

displays traffic signs. One of the new Octavia RS’s optional features is the Keyless-Entry-

Start-and-Exit-System (KESSY), another is a power-operated panoramic sliding sunroof.

The new ŠKODA Octavia RS offers a range of infotainment radio and sat nav systems.

The standard model includes the Swing infotainment radio. Further infotainment radio

and sat nav systems are also optionally available. The CANTON sound system provides

pure listening enjoyment in the passenger cabin.

The new ŠKODA Octavia L&K:

Top-of-the-line features for comfort and

style

› The new ŠKODA Octavia and Octavia Combi now with exclusive

Laurin & Klement (L&K) features

› Top versions of selected models in honour of ŠKODA’s founding fathers

Václav Laurin and Václav Klement

› Classy interior, top-quality materials and elegant styling

› Three ŠKODA models in the L&K line: Octavia/Octavia Combi, Superb/Superb

Combi and Yeti/Yeti Outdoor

Geneva/Mladá Boleslav, March 2014 – “Only the best is good enough for our

customers.” This corporate philosophy, established by the company’s founding

fathers Václav Laurin and Václav Klement still applies, even 118 years after the

Czech manufacturer was founded in Mladá Boleslav. A ŠKODA is always ‘a bit

more car’, inspiring its customers in every respect. ŠKODA’s classy

Laurin & Klement model versions are particularly chic and elegant. At the

Geneva Motor Show, ŠKODA is presenting the new ŠKODA Octavia L&K saloon

and estate versions for the first time.

The L&K features pay tribute to ŠKODA’s founding fathers Václav Laurin (a mechanic)

and Václav Klement (a bookseller), who started the origins of the company in 1895.

In the 90s of the 20th century, cars bearing the L&K badge have become a trade mark for

maximum comfort and exclusive style. In addition to the ŠKODA Octavia, the

manufacturer also offers high-class L&K versions of the Superb and Superb Combi

models as well as the new Yeti and Yeti Outdoor.

Classy looks with top-of–the-line features

The ŠKODA Octavia L&K, in both, saloon and estate versions are two of the best-

equipped vehicles in their class. The new ŠKODA Octavia L&K has bi-xenon headlamps

with integral LED daytime driving lights and black-back fog lamps with adaptive

lights. The C-shaped tail lights also have an LED system. The Octavia L&K rolls along on

exclusive, new ‘turbine’-style design 18-inch aluminium wheels.

The two exterior mirrors can be adjusted electrically and folded in (with memory

function). There are integral automatic exterior dimming mirrors. Boarding spots in the

mirror housings ensure discreet lighting of the entry area. The side window surrounds

have chrome trim strips (chrome package). The Laurin & Klement lettering on the front

wings are a discreet reminder that this is a top equipment level vehicle.

Inside there is a state-of-the-art 4-spoke multifunction leather steering wheel with

controls for radio, telephone and on-board computer. The driver’s seat is electrically

adjustable and includes an electrical lumbar support function. The electrically-adjusted

position of the driver’s seat is stored in memory and can be recalled as desired.

Top quality fabrics and discreet design effects are the epitome of elegance. The lower

part of the dashboard and the exclusive leather/Alcantara seats are in elegant brown.

With the combination of the black upper console and roof liner in stone/beige, the tone is

sophisticated and understated.

The textile floor mats have black stitching. The newly designed front and back door trims

are in Piano Black finish or (as an option) in brown wood inlay effect. Both bear the

Laurin & Klement logo. The front and rear footwells are illuminated, as are the interior

door handles.

The door sill plates at the front are in aluminium effect with integral Laurin & Klement

lettering. The L&K name is also on the front seat backrest, on the folded central armrest

at the back, on the door trim and on the gear knob. When the radio navigation system

starts up, the L&K logo lights up on the screen.

The Bolero infotainment system is supplied as the standard radio for the Octavia L&K.

It has a 5.8 inch touchscreen with colour display at a resolution of 400 × 240 pixels.

The display has integral proximity sensors. As soon as a finger approaches the screen,

the system switches automatically to operating mode. The swipe and zoom techniques

familiar from smartphones make operating the system easy. The Bolero has an FM/AM

radio, four speakers at both front and back, Bluetooth hands-free, CD drive, USB and

AUX IN connection, as well as an SD-card interface. Bluetooth is optionally expandable

with Phone Box.

The CANTON sound system is supplied as standard for a really sophisticated sound.

The system includes eight powerful speakers in the side doors, a central speaker on the

dash and a subwoofer in the boot. The total system output is 570 watts.

Optical Parking Assistant (rear-view camera) will be available as an option. The colour

range includes all available colours for the Octavia model range (except the uni colours

Pacific Blue and Corrida Red) including the new Laser White monochrome finish.

For the Octavia L&K, ŠKODA offers three powerful petrol and diesel engines.

The most powerful petrol engine is the 1.8 TSI Green tec with 132 kW (180 hp).

Maximum torque is between 1,250 and 5,000 rpm at 250 Nm. In the version with

a seven-speed DSG direct shift gearbox, the combined engine consumption is

5.7 litres/100 km and emissions per kilometre are 131 g CO2. The engine can also be

supplied with a manual six-speed transmission. The 4×4 version has a six-speed DSG

transmission. The engine meets standard EU-6.

Press Release, Page 3 of 4

The 2.0 TDI Green tec diesel engine with 110 kW (150 hp) is available with either

a manual six-speed transmission or an automatic six-speed DSG. With a fuel

consumption of just 4.5 litres/100 km and CO2 emissions of 119 g/km (applies to six-

speed DSG), the system achieves outstanding environmental values. In addition, the

engine is impressively quiet and smooth and provides its maximum torque of 320 Nm

even at between 1,750 and 3,000 rpm. The 2.0 TDI/110 kW can be supplied with front-

wheel drive and in an all-wheel-drive version with six-speed transmission.

In the second half of 2014, an additional high-performance diesel engine will be made

available for the Octavia L&K. The EU-6 2.0 TDI Green tec with 135 kW (184 hp)

engine will offer an attractive combination of six-speed DSG transmission and all-wheel

drive. It will be the fastest accelerating engine among the ŠKODA diesel models:

the 2.0 TDI/135 kW accelerates the Octavia L&K from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.8 seconds.

ŠKODA Superb L&K

The ŠKODA Superb is also available with L&K features. All the interior fittings of the

ŠKODA Superb L&K are convincingly exclusive: the seats are in leather and bear the L&K

lettering. New colours are available for the door trim and dashboard. Brown and ivory

is an optional colour combination, which lends the Superb cockpit that extra touch of

elegance. In this combination the leather seat covers are in ivory. The front seats are

electrically adjustable. As an option, the passenger seat can also be operated from the

back, for added convenience. In addition, there are Piano Black or brown wood-finish

decorative trims.

The powerful sound system will be a delight to the ear with ten speakers in the Bolero

infotainment system fitted as standard in the Superb L&K. The Bolero radio is

conveniently operated by a large 6.5 inch colour touchscreen and also includes a 6 × CD

changer, playback function for MP3 music files and an SD memory card slot.

The completely redesigned ŠKODA Superb L&K is fitted with bi-xenon headlamps and

integral LED daylight driving lights as standard. The new fog lamps also serve as

adaptive lights. The completely revamped tail lights in distinctive C design are LED,

as are the indicators, reversing light and fog lamps.

Automatic exterior dimming mirrors, electric folding exterior mirror with

boarding spots and the SunSet windows system with heavier tinting of the rear

window and back side windows offer additional convenience. Its large 18-inch alloy wheel

trims in two-tone ‘Sirius’ design set the vehicle off on the road in grand style. The door

sill plates bear the L&K emblem.

Parking sensors at front and rear facilitate getting in and out of parking spaces and

help to avoid damage.

The engine options for the ŠKODA Superb L&K consist of two powerful petrol and diesel

units: the 2.0 TSI has an output of 147 kW (200 hp). The top-of-the range petrol

engine is the 3.6 V6 unit with all-wheel drive. It has an output of 191 kW (260 hp).

Fuel consumption and emissions have been significantly improved (by approximately

9%). Both petrol engines are available exclusively in conjunction with automatic DSG six-

speed transmission. The available diesel engines are the 2.0 TDI with 103 kW

(140 hp) or the 2.0 TDI with 125 kW (170 hp). Both engines can be supplied with

manual six-speed transmissions or automatic DSG six-speed transmissions. An all-wheel

drive is also available for both engines.

ŠKODA Yeti L&K

Third in the current ŠKODA L&K model line-up is the fully redesigned ŠKODA Yeti –

in both design lines, Yeti and Yeti Outdoor. The exclusive brown leather finish is also

available for the ŠKODA Yeti (seats and front central arm rest), bi-xenon headlamps

with LED daylight driving lights, LED tail lights and textile floor mats with brown-stitched

details. Other features include: 17-inch two-tone aluminium wheels, the Bolero radio, 3-

spoke multifunction steering wheel, decorative trim in Piano Black and aluminium-effect

door-sill plates, each bearing the L&K lettering. The new exterior colour, Magnetic Brown,

is available exclusively for the Yeti L&K.

› Monte Carlo: homage to 113 years of successful ŠKODA motorsport history

Geneva/Mladá Boleslav, March 2014 – ŠKODA’s sporty Monte Carlo model

family grows with three new members. In future, these striking special models

will also be available for the ŠKODA Citigo, Yeti and Rapid Spaceback models.

The Czech car manufacturer is already offering attractive Monte Carlo versions

for the Fabia and the Fabia Combi.

Sports seats, aluminium wheels, dynamic exterior and interior design features, attractive

colours – the striking ŠKODA Monte Carlo special models are impressively sporty and

well-equipped as standard. “The success of the Monte Carlo versions of the ŠKODA Fabia

and ŠKODA Fabia Combi demonstrates our customers’ desire for custom-designed cars

with a certain spark,” says Werner Eichhorn, ŠKODA Board Member for Sales and

Marketing. “With Monte Carlo editions of Citigo, Yeti and Rapid Spaceback, we have given

our model offensive a new edge, recounting our successful motorsport tradition in

production vehicles with appeal,” says Eichhorn.

New ŠKODA Citigo Monte Carlo

With the ŠKODA Citigo Monte Carlo, ŠKODA presents a special version of its successful

city car Citigo in a new ultra-dynamic design. Both the petrol-driven Citigo and the CNG-

fuelled Citigo are available in a Monte Carlo edition. The brand was launched with success

into the city car scene about two years ago with the ŠKODA Citigo. In 2013 alone,

ŠKODA delivered 45,200 Citigos to customers, 51 percent more than in 2012. The Citigo

offers maximum space for its compact dimensions, optimum functionality,

clever features, top safety features, low fuel consumption, perfect handling and

an attractive design.

The ŠKODA Citigo Monte Carlo pulls away on black 15-inch ‘Auriga’ design aluminium

wheels. As an option, there are black 16-inch aluminium wheels in the ‘Serpens’ design.

With the sports chassis lowered by 15 millimetres, the vehicle sits somewhat lower than

the standard Citigo. The windows are tinted (SunSet), as is the sunroof. The front is

distinctive with its black radiator grille frame, the broad, black air inlet and black front

Monte Carlo design features in the lower section of the vehicle’s sides and on the

tailgate. The rear black diffuser enhances the car’s sporty image.

Inside too, the new Citigo special model lives up to its name. The red-stitched, height-

adjustable three-spoke steering wheel is encased in leather, as is the handbrake lever

and the gear knob. The gearshift sleeve too is finished with red stitching. Roof lining,

dashboard, carpeting and interior pillar trim are also all in black. The standard sports

seats are decorated with a unique fabric design in black and red with vertical grey

stripes. On the door sills, there are Monte Carlo decorative trims. The dashboard has

a special Monte Carlo design with integrated pad and black decorative paintwork.

The ŠKODA Citigo Monte Carlo’s features are based on the ‘Ambition’ design. In terms of

safety, in EU countries, the following are some of the features supplied as standard:

four airbags including head/thorax airbags, anti-lock brake system (ABS) and electronic

stability control (ESC), four three-point seatbelts, seatbelt alarm and Isofix fittings on the

outer rear seat. The Citigo received five-star (maximum) points for its safety features

in the Euro NCAP crash test.

For comfort and convenience the customer will enjoy front electric window control,

central locking with remote control, ticket holder, bag hook, folding split rear seat

backrest and many other ‘Simply Clever’ details.

The ŠKODA Citigo Monte Carlo is available with two three-cylinder petrol engines

1.0 MPI/44 kW (60 hp) and 1.0 MPI/55 kW (75 hp) as well as the CNG variant

1.0 CNG/50 kW (68 hp). The ŠKODA Citigo Monte Carlo comes in four very attractive

colours: Tornado Red, Candy White, Brilliant Silver and Deep Black.

New ŠKODA Yeti Monte Carlo

ŠKODA is exhibiting the sports trim version of its completely redesigned compact SUV

Yeti for the first time in Geneva. The ŠKODA Yeti is one of the most popular compact

SUVs. The new edition ŠKODA Yeti Monte Carlo, launched at the beginning of 2014,

has an exciting new front and new rear, a fresh-look interior, all-wheel or front-wheel

drive, expanded engine/gearbox combinations and new technical features.

The front of the ŠKODA Yeti Monte Carlo has a distinctive black radiator grille frame and

a striking black front spoiler. ŠKODA is treating purchasers of its special model to black

17-inch aluminium wheels and tinted back side windows and rear windscreen (SunSet),

all as standard. The vehicle roof and the A, C and D pillars are all painted black, as is the

roof rail and the exterior mirror housing. The door sills are also painted black. At the

rear, a black diffuser emphasises the sports styling.

Sports styling is also in evidence in the interior of the ŠKODA Yeti Monte Carlo.

The special 3-spoke sports steering wheel, finished with red stitching, is encased in black

perforated leather. The gear knob and handbrake lever are also trimmed in black leather.

Red stitching decorates the gearshift sleeve and the central front armrest. The sports

seats are covered in fabric in black-red-grey combination, with grey vertical stripes

providing visual accents. The stainless steel pedals resemble those of a sports car.

The floor mats are trimmed with red stitching. There are decorative door sill trims in

synthetic aluminium with the Monte Carlo logo.

With the exception of the basic diesel engine 1.6 TDI/77 kW, the entire Yeti range of

engines is available for the ŠKODA Yeti Monte Carlo: three petrol engines 1.2 TSI/77 kW,

1.4 TSI/90 kW, 1.8 TSI/112 (118 kW) and three diesel units 2.0 TDI/81 kW,

2.0 TDI/103 kW and 2.0 TDI/125 kW.

The Yeti Monte Carlo comes in seven exterior colours: Corrida Red, Magic Black,

Candy White, Laser White, Moon White, Metal Grey and Brilliant Silver.

The new ŠKODA Rapid Spaceback Monte Carlo

The third in this set of new sporty special models is the new ŠKODA Rapid Spaceback

Monte Carlo. In the autumn of last year, the car manufacturer slotted the ŠKODA Rapid

Spaceback into its product range, between the Fabia and Octavia. This is ŠKODA’s first

ever compact car, combining ŠKODA’s practical qualities into hatchback form. The

dynamically fresh design will appeal to new customer groups. As is typical of ŠKODA,

the Rapid Spaceback is very spacious, has many ‘Simply Clever’ ideas, top safety

features, low fuel consumption and is excellent value for money.

The new ŠKODA Rapid Spaceback Monte Carlo cuts an impressive figure at first glance

with its dynamic, powerful look. At the front, the black radiator grille frame shows off the

vehicle’s sportiness, as do the broad black honeycomb air inlet and black-back

headlamps and fog lamps. The door sills also have black elements.

The Rapid Spaceback has a particularly sporty look with the StylePLUS package.

It includes the black exterior mirror housing, the distinctive panoramic sunroof with black

roof-edge spoiler, a long rear windscreen as well as black-back tail lights. The black tail

diffuser completes the dynamic rear aspect. The Rapid Spaceback Monte Carlo travels on

black 16-inch aluminium wheels or, as an option, 17-inch aluminium wheels.

The interior of the Rapid Spaceback Monte Carlo echoes the sporty look of the exterior.

The new 3-spoke leather steering wheel is trimmed with red stitching. The gearshift

sleeve is also finished with red stitching. The gear knob and the handbrake lever are also

trimmed in red leather. Door trim and dashboard are in black. The dashboard has

a decorative ‘Carbon’ design trim. The sports seats are in a black/red/grey design with

grey vertical stripes. Here again the pedals are made from stainless steel and the black

floor mats are trimmed with red stitching. On the front and back door sills there are

decorative trims in synthetic aluminium, the front sills bearing the Monte Carlo logo.

The Rapid Spaceback Monte Carlo is based on the ‘Ambition’ design.

1.4 TSI/90 kW (122 hp). There are two auto-ignition common rail direct fuel injection

diesels: 1.6 TDI/66 kW (90 hp) and 1.6 TDI/77 kW (105 hp).

Success for ŠKODA Fabia Monte Carlo and Fabia Estate Monte Carlo

With the three new special models, Monte Carlo ŠKODA’s sporting family has grown

to a total of five members. The ŠKODA Fabia has been available in the Monte Carlo

version since 2011 and the ŠKODA Fabia Estate Monte Carlo version has been on the

market since 2013. Both have enjoyed sales success. To date, the Czech manufacturer

has sold a total of almost 38,000 Fabia and Fabia Combi Monte Carlo vehicles.

Homage to 113 years of ŠKODA motorsport success

The special Monte Carlo models pay tribute to 113 successful years of ŠKODA motor-

sport history. ŠKODA has contributed to the writing of some important chapters in the

history of the legendary rally from which it takes its name. The Czech brand took part in

the ‘Monte’ for the first time in 1936. The ŠKODA Popular drove straight up to the

winners’ podium, taking second and third prizes in its category.

Over recent years, the Czech brand has notched up rally victory after rally victory.

The most recent tally from the year 2013 was the Driver’s title in the European Rally

Championship, Driver’s and Constructor’s Title in the Asia-Pacific Championship and the

South American Championship as well as five national titles overall.

placed on design, proving the emotional charisma and power of the ŠKODA brand.
