Marine Discovery Centre The CROSSROADS project is dedicated to preserving and enhancing the Maldives’ unique marine ecosystem, and this commitment is encapsulated at our extraordinary Marine Discovery Centre, spanning 300 square metres. Here guests can explore an immersive conservation experience and discover the phenomenal beauty of our marine wildlife. The Marine Discovery Centre is a pioneering project that is spearheading cutting edge coral propagation projects and aims to educate visitors about conservation issues. It features a marine biology laboratory, coral propagation, a clownfish release programme, and interactive activities such as tuna discovery scuba diving, snorkelling, coral nursery exploration and marine conservation courses such as the Junior Marine Curator and Reef Guardian Maldives.

Koimala & Maalimi’s Junior Beach Club and Camp

The Koimala & Maalimi’s Junior Beach Club and Camp is an exciting, energetic hub of activity. An imaginative centre designed to be an innovative edutainment concept that encourages children aged 4-15 to embrace their spirit of creativity in an engaging and dynamic environment. Aspects of Maldives culture are present throughout and provide a stimulating and charming backdrop to a wide variety of fun and educational activities. The primary ethos focuses on two characters from Maldivian folklore: Koimala, the wise turtle prince, and Maalimi, the mythical black marlin, the fastest fish in the ocean. These characters’ stories are rich and colourful and serve to interest children in the local wildlife and culture. The facility is spread over three outdoor and three indoor areas, including a family room where adults and guardians are welcome to join the fun. An activity room and a playroom are kids only zones, fostering a sense of children having their own space to create and grow. Outside, a beautiful, private beach provides a wonderful location for a variety of games and activities, as does a dedicated area to get back to nature and camp under the stars. The club’s eclectic combination of water-based attractions includes the dynamic, zero-depth Splashpad®, an aquatic play area that provides hours of fun for the entire family, as well as specially designed games to offer young fun-seekers a choice of safe and inspiring learning. An extraordinary on-site education centre engages children in topics surrounding sustainability and conservational awareness and integrates playful activities and stories into the learning experience to help foster a respect for the environment. Children are encouraged to be creative, and immerse themselves into the local culture and wildlife as much as possible, through an incredible range of activities such as craft classes that use only recycled materials, tours of the Maldives Discovery Centre and Marine Discovery Centre, visits to local islands, and lessons on coral conservation and propagation. All our staff are highly trained and accredited and come from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds and languages.
