Curriculum• Orientation

– Hosted by the President– Held in spring following announcement of PLA class

• Readings– Begins in the summer– Small discussion groups meet to discuss readings– Books include: Good to Great by Jim Collins; The World Is Flat by Thomas Friedman; Leadership in Place by Jon F. Wergin; and The Five Dysfunctions of a Team by Patrick M. Lencioni

• Seminar Sessions– Internal and external leaders on topics – Frankfort Visits– Case Study– Meyers-Briggs test– Impact of Technology– Many more…

Curriculum•Training Sessions

– Mini sessions conducted by campus departments– Self select from two to three choices

• Internship– Gain a more global understanding of the University while making connections – Internships are offered in campus departments and through an external educational organization–Takes place during the spring semester– Internship = 45 hours in assigned area + 15 hours attending meetings and/or events in areas not previously experienced

What time commitment is expected?

• Readings

• Two day seminar session in August

• Half day curriculum modules each month.

• Field visits – 2 to 3 night trip

• Internship – Total of 60 hours

Selection Process

• Application– Application available at www.moreheadstate.edu/pla– Section I completed by Nominator – Section II completed by nominee’s immediate supervisor and Dean/Vice President – Section III and Section IV completed by nominee– Nominee completes the all nomination materials to the Office of the President by January 31, 2008

• Interview– Notified by email if selected for interview– Respond to email with interview time/date choices– Nominees are randomly assigned to interview committees –Interview committee consists of external leaders from the community– Interviews will be held in February– Interview committee ranks nominees–Rankings are reviewed by the President and Steering Committee for final selections
