Consent Agenda

SP 1, compliance

Approve 5/10/16 Cabinet minutes

Approve Admin Procedure: 07-2016-0001 Student Club Advisors Tammie moved, seconded by Casey, to approve the consent agenda. Motion carried.

Cam would like the Admin Procedure for BMCC Travel policy to allow employees to use their frequent flyer accounts, which

allows the traveler to get better service. Lane Community College modified their policy, which states frequent flyer bonuses

earned by employees traveling on college business are part of the employees benefit compensation package, and may be

used by employees as they choose, unless the terms of a grant or sponsorship do not permit.

Curriculum Committee Report

Compliance

Approval of courses and programs, an information source for curriculum changes. Jan Keough is the recorder. This is a really

important process, as curriculum goes through the state for approval. . Every academic department is represented on the

committee.

The committee has approved curriculum for the Vet Tech Program, and Board approval will be requested at the June 8

meeting.

Area veterinarian’s met for an advisory council meeting, and were very positive about the College using their facilities for

our students/CWE. Attachment: Curriculum Purpose.

Lean Update Toshihiko Murata will provide a report out for Lean from the Assessment and ROI sessions on Friday, May 20.

A draft assessment guide was provided at the Lean meeting last week. The group decided this should be sent out as a

survey to all employees, with results analyzed by service area and division.

The group also considered Return on Investment (ROI), and noted some concern that not all impact of the Lean processes

can be described in terms of dollars. More work needs to be done around this issue. Some charters would benefit from

learning the actual savings of the charter.

Blue Mountain Community College will be a recognized educational leader in achieving student success, completion, and advancement. BMCC Mission Statement

Lean champions will discuss these items at their next breakfast of champions on June 2nd. They will also discuss how to

bring in a new cohort of champions, and will have the first cohort celebrate the second cohort. The Lean champions will

also be asked to work on a job description for the Lean Coordinator.

Diane noted last week was the last session with David Blessman as coach. Craig Connors will submit a proposal to BMCC

after hearing the ongoing needs of BMCC. Craig will help with specific or graduate level lean work.

Assessment and ROI handouts attached.

The BMCC 2015-20 Strategic Plan calls for a refresh of the college employee Leadership Class. College Coordinating Council

is proposing a new type of leadership and professional development opportunity for all employees. Cabinet will be asked to

provide input and make decision about this proposal.

The Strategic Plan includes an objective to look at the previous BMCC Leadership class and do a refresh. The class is not a

new employee orientation, it is to develop a culture of leadership and service in the BMCC community. CCC asked the

proposal be brought to Cabinet for input.

Cam asked where the culture of Switch will be identified in the list of topics (Switch could be included in all sessions), and

noted the topics are all related to our calling as a college to train individuals in the role the institution has in the community,

and for leadership as it relates to the work of the community college.

CCC would like to start the academy this fall, and is looking for an endorsement to go forward.

Casey moved, seconded by Tammie Parker, to endorse the BMCC Leadership Academy Proposal. Motion carried.
