Jefferson received 164 electoral votes to only 14 votes for his Federalist opponent

12th Amendment passed so first election in which electors are caste separately for President and Vice President (George Clinton V.P)
The success of the Louisiana Purchase and expansion of the United States secured this landslide victory for Jefferson!
However, Jefferson’s successes soon withered away during his 2nd term
