Tuition & Fees
Tuition and fees for all MnSCU 2-year colleges are in the “red”
across the entire system because a national comparison puts
the system near the highest tuition/fees in America.
Facilities Condition Index (FCI)
In May of 2012, SCC received $13.3 million for the renovation and
remodeling of the Faribault campus which will help the overall
FCI. SCC currently is completing approximately $2.0 million of
HEAPR projects and will soon begin a $1.5 million roof project
for the North Mankato Campus. All of these items will assist
in moving the FCI from ‘red’ to ‘blue’ level. Additional dollars in
State HEAPR are needed in order to move to the highest level.
Persistence and Completion Rates
SCC is one of 13 MnSCU 2-Year Colleges that is in the ‘red’
category for persistence and completion rates. Part of this
issue is having students offered (and accepting) jobs before
they finish their degrees. In addition, SCC has a Retention
Committee with established objectives to improve student
retention rates. SCC has also created an ASK ANYONE
Campaign designed to create an educational environment
that encourages student persistence.

President Keith Stover
2011-2012
PRESIDENTI am very pleased with the progress our college has made during this past year and
I invite you to view the list of our major accomplishments for 2011-12 (pages 8-10). Your contributions and partnerships have assisted us in reaching our goals and
your input remains the foundation for our new initiatives and educational options.
Building for the FutureThe 2012 State Bonding Bill was approved by Governor Mark Dayton
on May 11, 2012, and provides $13.3 million in remodeling and expansion of our Faribault Campus. Work will begin on remodeling in January 2013, with
groundbreaking for the expansion in the spring of 2013. We are grateful to our area Legislators for their continual support throughout the process that began in
2010.
In addition to our bonding project, SCC has undertaken several remodeling projects including: new administrative offices on the North Mankato Campus; updates to restrooms on both
campuses; remodeled Computer Integrated Machining on the Faribault Campus; and the creation of a new office complex for our Center for Business and Industry on the North Mankato Campus.
Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Designation SCC is proud to be recognized as a ‘Beyond the Yellow Ribbon College’ for our commitment to serving veterans, military service members and their families. This special recognition was made by Governor Mark Dayton on July 27, 2012. Our enrollment numbers for returning veterans continues to grow, and we are honored to be recognized for the extra attention that we provide to this special group of students.
Right Skills NowSouth Central College was chosen as one of two colleges nationwide to create an accelerated machining program entitled Right Skills Now (RSN). The program is an outgrowth of President Obama’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness. The fast-track machining training began in January on the Faribault Campus and in March on the North Mankato Campus. SCC is delighted with the initial success of the program and our ability to provide a trained workforce for our manufacturing partners.
Expanding our Agricultural ProgramsSouth Central College is working to identify and then deliver the education required for the future needs of our agricultural workforce. SCC hosted several listening sessions made up of agriculture/agribusiness representatives, employers and educators to assess the needs. SCC, together with Minnesota West Community and Technical College, will be working to align our certificates, degrees and customized educational programs with the identified needs of our agribusiness partners. Agriculture and ag-related businesses make up the largest sector in our region’s economy. South Central College looks forward to the next steps in creating a Southern Minnesota Center of Agriculture to better serve this important sector of our economy.
Thank you for your support of our college and its students. We ask for your continued assistance to help transform lives and build a well-educated workforce.

Presidential ScholarsCandidates for the Presidential Scholarship must possess a high school GPA of 3.75 or above and exhibit leadership skills and community involvement. The SCC Campus Foundations awarded over $300,000 to SCC students this year.
The Foundations on the Faribault and North Mankato Campuses awarded over three-hundred thousand dollars to SCC student scholars in 2012! Funds for these scholarships were raised in a variety of ways, including regional fund drives, faculty, staff and alumni contributions, earnings on endowed funds, grants and special fundraising events. Foundation volunteers work hard each year to raise funds for these scholarships, and we have had overwhelming support from the businesses and individuals in Mankato, North Mankato, Faribault and our South Central Minnesota communities.
