huge success. Many of our members, their families

families and friends attended to cheer on the Bees. A great time

was had by all. Then came our Newcomers’ Day at the Races.

August brings us a social luncheon at Caffé Molise in City Creek

August Luncheon Program

We are returning to Caffe Molise for an after-

Lake City. Put on your summer frock and pic-

ture hat; bring along your special gent in his fe-

dora and summer whites. Enjoy a lovely sum-

new friends. Sit with someone you don’t know.

Find out what the Knit and Crochet gang have

been up to. Bring you walking shoes and amble

over to City Creek for some after luncheon

shopping.

New parking kiosks accept both cash and cards, and there are several downtown garages nearby. Lots of

metered spaces within the block, and TRAX stops right around the corner! Carpooling is always recom-

mended- chat with your friend on the way to and from the restaurant, and meet NEW people at luncheon!

Caffe Molise has our attention

for August! Just finished read-

ing reviews available- and there

are many! Molise is NOW

rated one of USA Today's '10

BEST' with overall 4.5 rating with 5 being TOPS,

is #88 of more than 1300 SLC eateries and

again 4.5 rating, with 5 being TOP, and contin-

ues to offer fresh imaginative and creative Italian

food. Their latest NEW creation, right next

door, is BTG. 'By the Glass' is officially SLC's

first wine bar- and another reason to return

'later and again'!

MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY UPDATES

Holly Gralak had an operation for breast cancer. It was successful, no lymph node involvement and she is recuperating

at home. Her daughter is here taking care of her. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Holly, for a speedy and

complete recovery.

Gloria Tull is doing well after having surgery for her broken wrist. She is home and Joe says she appreciates the phone

calls, cards and caring thoughts she has received.

Sam Roberts wishes to thank everyone for the wonderful cards, e-mails, letters and flowers. He also wants to thank

all of those that visited him in the hospitals. We think that he could not have improved as much as he has without all

your prayers and positive energies. It means a lot to us to know that he has such wonderful friends.

He continues to improve each day with therapists three times a week. He is learning to say several words now. We

are hopeful for continued improvement. To his golf group, he misses them and golfing. Hopefully next year.

Also, he is happy about the Chemo Caps for Sam. We started a program when Sam first started visiting Hunts-

man's Cancer Center and Michelle has enlisted the people where she works. One lovely lady has made and donated

150 hats. We know the Newcomers' are diligently at work. Ladies, thanks to all of you.

Helga Bremer, Greeter for Newcomers, is having surgery on July 21st and is expecting to be home to recuperate after

two days. She asks that you keep her in your thoughts and calls are always appreciated.

Two long time members of Newcomers and RMSG passed on in June; Max W. Young and Ruth Bryant. Numerous

RMSG members underwent surgery for various ills: Barry Saunders, Phyllis Sims, Vi Krumal, Lynn Shafer, Kem

England, and Hugh Zumbro. All are thankful to be on the second listing. Sam Roberts continues on his long road to

recovery.

Betty Lessnau: Our prayers and thoughts go out to Betty in the hope that she will respond to cancer treatment. She

is seriously ill and is recuperating at the home of a very dear friend, Fay Andrews. Please send get well cards in

lieu of phone calls.

Pat England, First Vice President for Newcomers, has been recuperating from knee replacement surgery since June

10th. After leaving the hospital, she spent a couple of weeks in rehab and is now going to physical therapy three times

a week. She’s doing very well and is preparing for her second knee replacement surgery which will take place on July

22nd. Her mantra which is helping her through all of this is “I’ll feel better tomorrow.” We hope ‘tomorrow’ comes

soon for her.

Knitters & Crocheters

“Cap of Sam” update

We are on our way making interesting, creative hats for Huntsman’s

infusion Unit. We marveled at what knitters and crocheters are

making. Very impressive, if I do say so myself. New knitters and OLD

knitters shared ideas information and help. Our next “stitch and gab”

we will be meeting on Tuesday August 26 1:00 to 3:00 at Jan Meigs’

home, 9571 Hidden Point

Drive, Sandy. In September we

will meet at Susan Maturlo’s

home.

November is Purple Hat

Month for Shaken Baby Syndrom. Goal is to send each

newborn, during the month of November, home with a purple hat

accompanied by educational opportunities for new parents. If you

would like to knit baby size, purple hats call Gail at 801 256 0530 and

I will email information and pattern information.
