President’s Letter Welcome back. After a month off, we can now get back to the serious business of car-club- fun. It will be nice to visit with you again at our August meeting. At least we had a good send off with our great June Picnic. Our plan during the club hiatus was to take an RV trip, no schedule, but probably of 3 or 4 week duration. We left on June 8th and had only driven about a couple hundred miles when we hit a deer (actually it hit us). We were fine (the poor deer wasn’t). The motorhome damage wasn’t serious, but the front fender, door, and some of the side were smashed and more importantly the windshield was shattered. We decided to come home, get the damage repaired, and then resume our trip. Well, here it is the end of July and Vince’s Auto Body has only just finally gotten the authorization to complete the repairs. We’ll start a trip soon I hope. More big personal news. I sold our Aston Martin! It was a wonderful, beautiful, great car, but I almost never used it. It was hard to find a buyer, but a man in North Carolina was very interested. We talked and traded emails for 3 or 4 weeks. We became well acquainted. Turns out we have the same political beliefs, we’re both strong Catholics, so he had faith in what I was telling him about the car. I assured him the car was flawless (it was). He had Red Rock Precision Motors do an inspection and bought the car sight unseen. He is totally pleased with it and we still trade emails. So my pocket is burning with a pretty big bundle of cash. A Ferrari is my dream car (it’s an Italian thing), but I’m not sure my burning pocket is full enough for one. I’ll keep looking though. I’m probably always boring you with talk about my Mini Cooper, but I really do enjoy it. A couple of weeks ago I decided to take some of my new-found riches and get a new(er) one. Mine is a S model, their sportier one. They make a model higher, a John Cooper Works. It’s more powerful, faster, and of course more expensive so there aren’t too many around. Sort of like Z06 to Corvette. I went so far as to make a deal with a dealer that had one and the night before I was to get it I realized that one of the good things about the one I have is that it pleases me and it only cost a fraction of the one I wanted to buy. So no new Mini for me. I’ll just save my money for??? The rest of the year will be great for the club. We’ll have some fun outings, and of course, our car show. I look forward to seeing you all.

Club Outing to Bearizona

Our Co-coordinator Donna - Has us set up for August 29, a Tuesday, with a discounted price of $15.00

each, plus tax, totaling $16.56 per person.

This includes our Guided Bus Tour for the Sedona Car Club, they will provide treats for the animals so we

will get 'close up' photo opportunities of the animals from the bus. In addition to a guided tour on the

buss, specifically for our group, our ticket provides entry to the Birds of Prey Exhibition, the close up

viewing of the baby animal exhibits, and the petting Zoo. We can also walk through the display area for

the babies and smaller animals, such as Otters, and we can self-drive through the park as many times as

we want, this drive through area features an abundance of larger wildlife that are free, surrounding and

adjacent to the vehicle pathways.

There is a wonderful brand new restaurant with great food, and a glassed in black Panther enclosure

which is visible from the restaurant! The huge enclosure has a diving pool and fountain for their new

panther.

Bearizona is approximately 160 acres. Visitors will drive through more than three miles of Ponderosa Pine

Forest viewing North American animals in natural habitats when they visit. More animals are exhibited in

Fort Bearizona, a beautiful 20 acre walk-thru area, along winding paths which is more of a "zoo" type

setting.

Location - Conveniently located in the heart of Northern Arizona, and nestled amongst the beautiful

Kaibab National Forest, Williams is considered the gateway to the Grand Canyon. Williams’ central

location allows visitors to stay and experience Northern Arizona’s beautiful sights and activities.

Bearizona is one hour south of the Grand Canyon’s South Rim, 30 minutes west of Flagstaff, and three

hours southeast of Las Vegas, NV.

While visiting the Grand Canyon, discover an abundance of wildlife at the Bearizona Wildlife Park. This

self-drive-through park features three miles of untamed Arizona wilderness, with black bears, sheep,

bison, wolves, deer, elk, goats and more. Also, Fort Bearizona is a walking exhibit that’s home to baby

animals — like bear cubs and wolf pups — plus smaller species of wildlife, a petting zoo and more. In the

Birds of Prey show, get face to face with and learn more about hawks, owls, falcons and other raptors.

Fun for the entire family. Highlights Bearizona Drive-Thru Wildlife Park in Williams, Arizona Drive through

the park in your own vehicle View animals like black bears, bison, wolves and more in a natural

environment See black bear cubs and wolf pups up close Watch the High Country Raptors show at Fort

Bearizona Educational and family-friendly experience near the Grand Canyon! Explore the petting zoo

area for a hands-on experience with barnyard animals.

What You Can Expect - Bearizona Drive-Thru Wildlife Park Amidst the Ponderosa pine forests of

northern Arizona — and just 60 miles from the Grand Canyon — is the Bearizona Wildlife Park, a natural

animal sanctuary with a large variety of North American wildlife. The bulk of the park is a 3-mile, self-

driving tour. This adventure features the likes of Rocky Mountain goats and elk, Alaskan Dall sheep and

tundra wolves, arctic wolves, mule deer, American burros, black bears, bighorn sheep, white and brown

bisons and more. Then, stroll through winding walkways to get an up-close look at the playful antics of

even more animals on exhibit, like beavers, porcupines, otters, bear cubs, bobcats, javelina, foxes and

more. There’s also the Bearizona Barnyard petting zoo, to get up close with the baby animals, and a Mine

Shaft Experience, which houses some nocturnal animals and even a few creepy crawly critters. Finally,

enjoy a Birds of Prey exhibition, which allows visitors to come face to face with hawks, owls, falcons and

other raptors. Programs include training demos and free-flight shows, all with a narrative on natural

history, conservation and interesting facts — an entertaining and educational experience for all ages.
