Drilling for oil in

the Mediterranean Sea ?

Drilling for oil in the Mediterranean would be

a threat to environment but at the same time

an opportunity to pay off 1/6 of European debt.

Our reasons

France has decided to position itself against the project of drilling in the Mediterranean becauseThere are risks of oil spillage at the rig and during international transport by tankers

The cost of a rig is too high compared to the profit made with oil

Of the impact of oil on the sea and its environment

Example of risks involved

Deepwater Horizon was an American oil driling rig.

On 20 April 2010, an explosion on the rig caused by a blowout killed 11 crewmen and ignited a fireball visible from 35 miles (56 km) away. The resulting fire could not be extinguished and, on 22 April 2010, Deepwater Horizon sank, leaving the well gushing at the seabed and causing the largest offshore oil spill in U.S. history.

We suggest to :Build wind turbines in the Mediterranean

Build solar parks in the MediterraneanBuild dams at the mouth of rivers

in order to produce jobs and green energy which will be sold to partner countries

Meeting the needs of today's population without Harming the ability of future generation to meet their own needs
