The next part is very easy - all you need to do is decide how much you would like to donate and then fill in the form overleaf - we will then do all the hard work. Your donation will be helping to secure the future of the South Devon Railway for generations to come.

If you are a UK tax payer please remember to fill in the gift aid part of the form, as with this we can claim back from the government an additional 25p per £1 you donate at no cost to yourself. Higher rate tax payers can benefit from a reduced tax liability.

If you are unable to make a regular contribution don’t worry - there are other ways you can help us - have you thought about becoming a volunteer?

The SDR Foundation Fund is an initiative for the ongoing benefit of the South Devon Railway. We are asking you to join us, and in so doing, help secure the future of the railway by providing financial support. This support will ensure vital improvements and developments can made across the whole of our line. Your ongoing contributions will go directly into the SDR Foundation Fund; this dedicated fund will be used exclusively to support maintenance and improvements on infrastructure and rolling stock including, but not limited to:

• The permanent way – track, sleepers, ballast, points, etc.

• Rolling Stock – carriages, wagons and locomotives.

• Signal and Telegraph – signals, cabling, point rodding, telephones, batteries, signal boxes, etc.

• Platforms, bridges, culverts, crossings, footbridges and fences.

• Covered accommodation for rolling stock and workshops.

What does it involve?

We are seeking regular donations of £10 per month, or more if you feel able, and then spread the word to get as much support as we can. One off donations are also very welcome. Every donation will make a vital contribution to securing the SDR’s future, but the more supporters we have the greater enhancements we can achieve.

Satisfaction! We all enjoy time spent supporting the Railway, be it as a visitor or volunteer, and the friends we make and the experiences we gain. This is your chance to ensure that this can continue and that future generations can have the same opportunity. You will have the satisfaction of knowing that you have played a part in safeguarding the SDR and Preserving our Past for the Future.

Upon joining, you will receive a welcome letter and, subsequently, regular updates on the progress of the SDR Foundation Fund to keep you in touch with what your support is achieving.

Since the South Devon Railway was formed in 1991 a tremendous amount has been achieved. However, maintaining a railway with infrastructure and equipment that is already well over 50 years old is an expensive job. Spare parts are no longer easy to come by or available ‘off the shelf’. Often we need to manufacture them ourselves. Keeping everything in tip top condition requires constant investment!
