Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT):

Electroconvulsive therapy can be effective

for people who have episodes of severe

depression or feel suicidal or people who

haven't seen improvements in their

symptoms despite other treatment. With

ECT, electrical currents are passed through

your brain. Researchers don't fully

understand how ECT works. But it's

thought that the electric shock causes

changes in brain chemistry that leads to

improvements in your mood.

IEP for bipolar disorder.

• IEP stands for (Individualized Education Program) . "Individualized Education Plan,

• This is a legally binding document that spells out exactly what special education services your child will receive and why.

• The individualized part of IEP means that the plan has to be tailored specifically to your child's special needs not to the needs of the teacher, or the school, or the district. Goals, modifications, accommodations, personnel, placement, all should be selected, according to the child's need.

The IEP meeting is

attended by members of

the Child study team which

usually includes a social

worker, a psychologist, a

learning specialist, and

your child's teachers and

therapists. Parents are

always to be included in

IEP meetings
