• 1 in 9 Canadians will develop irreversible vision loss by age 65

• 60% of Canadian children with reading difficulties have undetected or uncorrected vision problems

• 2.5% of Canadians are classified as ‘visually impaired’

• 1 in every 3,500 Canadian children is born with an inherited retinal disease and an estimated 20,000 Canadians live with inherited retinal diseases.

• One million Canadians currently have AMD causing some level of vision loss. An estimated 250,000 Canadians have an advanced form of AMD, of which 64,000 are legally blind. These numbers are expected to double in the next 25 years

• $30.3 billion projected total annual cost of vision loss in Canada in 2032

The Foundation Fighting Blindness is a Canadian health charity that was founded in 1974 by a small group of families intent on finding a cure for the disease robbing their children of sight.

At that time retinitis pigmentosa, macular degeneration and other retinal dystrophies were thought to be incurable.

Undaunted, these families enlisted the support of Canada's leading medical scientists and set to work raising money for vision research. From these humble beginnings, The

Foundation Fighting Blindness has grown to become Canada's leading private supporter of retina research, having given more than $23 million to groundbreaking eye research taking place at universities and hospitals across the country.

Sharing the laughter since 1999, Comic Vision has contributed over $5M to the Foundation Fighting Blindness, funding research to find cures for vision loss and blindness currently affecting over 1 million Canadian children and adults.

Comic Vision promises to reach a wide audience coast to coast of dedicated and generous supporters enjoying hilarious comedy and supporting a great cause.

Each Comic Vision event brings together an average of 500 local community leaders,

influential business executives, eye health contributors and many friends and family members truly wanting to make a difference.

In 2013, Comic Vision shared the laughter with more than 2,500 attendees across Canada raising more than $930,000 for critical sight-saving research projects.

Please join us and be a part of Canada’s most anticipated national stand up comedy fundraising tour and help us See the Hope that one day, there will be treatments and cures for blindness.
