e Institute for European Studies For more information, contact: [email protected], 812-855-3280 Presentations of Protest: Twitter Images and Activism during Ukraine's Euromaidan Using a mixed-methods approach that combines quantitative analytics and qualita- tive analysis, this presentation examines how Ukrainians used the Twitter hashtag #Euromaidan (Ukrainian: #Євромайдан; Russian: #Eвромайдан) to protest their government’s November 2013 suspension of negotiations to finalize the European Union—Ukraine Association Agreement. In addition to providing documentary evidence and commentary about protest events, Twitter shaped the information strategies employed by different types of social media actors to engage in a form of “transpolitics” in which domestic politics and policy debates are conducted beyond the confines of the traditional nation-state. Using a mixed-methods approach that combines quantitative analytics and qualita-tive analysis, this presentation examines how Ukrainians used the Twitter hashtag #Euromaidan (Ukrainian: #Євромайдан; Russian: #Eвромайдан) to protest their government’s November 2013 suspension of negotiations to �nalize the European Union—Ukraine Association Agreement.
