Development of music video

Our music video compromises ofParticular points where the performancescenes are supposed to go. In order to achieve this look of the sceneswe had a day of production whereaboutsthe artist had to be positioned in frontof a green screen.Later onwards when the editing of thesescenes came around, we changed the green to an image of an empty stage. Weinitially had chosen it because it suitsthe point of the artist performing in asurrounding much like that one.But later on it was decided that becausethe artist was in colour and the background was in black and white, it was moreappropriate to choose a background whichwas in colour and one which went morewith the artist to keep up with the authenticity.

Even though the second background worked well with the artist in terms of suitability andcolouring, it was deemed too bright due to the stage lights and it took the attention awayfrom the artist performing the song. The background was changed to a similar one interms of the stage lighting but they were shown to be pointing downwards, away from theartist, keeping more attention and focus on her instead.

The scenes in between the performanceones reveal the everyday life of the artistsuch as her social life and everydaycommunication amongst everyone else.These particular scenes were to be shownin black and white, representing the pastas she has already done them and isReferring back to these memories in theform of the lyrics as they interlink witheach other.

The way that the scenes were changed intoblack and white where by simply draggingthe effect onto the desired video.

The scene towards the end of the musicVideo is the park scene in which the artistIs shown to be picking up balloons one byOne and gently letting them go at the end.

At this specific point we intended on changingThe theme of black and white and returning itTo its original colour. The reasons for doingThis is because the lyrics that are sung “so I go picking up the pieces” would meanThat the artist’s state of mind has significantlyChanged and she sees the world in a newLight, the change in colour is connoting that.And also because she sees things differently, It is part of her present life and not her pastLife anymore.We had done this effect using a video effect.

We had captured different typesof camera work such as this closeUp shot of an object being shown on display in oxford street. Thisdemonstrates as to where the video’slocation is taking place as it is playedright at the start of the video.

Handheld cameras were alsoused to film the artist walkingthrough the streets of London.We used this because we arebeing shown an insight to her lifeand it gives the audience a feelingas if they are actually there walkingWith her. It also connotes the realism of the London and the everyday thingsshe endures herself into.

There was also editing taking place in this video. The type of editing being shown herewould be the continuity editing as the artist is walking around doing certain things.This editing is to create a flow within the video and not to confuse the audience.
