PRESENTATION ON ROBOTICS
Presented by:Akshay Wadalkar
Robots
• Robotics is the branch of technology that deals with the design, construction, operation and application of robots.
• Robot is a reprogrammable multifunctional manipulator designed to move materials parts, tools, or special devices through variable programmed motions for the performance of variety of tasks.
ROBOT ANOTOMY
• The manipulator or an industrial robot is constructed by a series of joints and links.
• Robot anotomy deals with the types and the size of joints and links and other aspects of the manipulator’s physical construction.
CLASSIFICATION OF ROBOTS
• Depending upon the physical configuration– Cartesian robot: In this robot consist of
three sliding joints. Out of which one is linear and other two are orthogonal.
– Cylindrical robot: In this robot consist of a vertical column relative to which an arm assembly moves up and down.
– Polar robot: In this sliding arm of body can rotate about both vertical and horizontal axis
– Jointed arm robot: It has a structure swiveled about the base with shoulder joint and elbow joint etc.
• Depending upon the motion characteristics– Point to point robot– Continuous path robot
• Depending upon the types of control used– Servo control robots– Non-Servo control robots
• Depending upon types of input– Manual Manipulator robot– Numerically controlled robot– Intelligent robot– Playback robot– Fixed sequence robot– Variable sequence robot
APPLICATION OF ROBOT
• Industrial application– Used for material handling.– Processing operations like• Welding• Spray painting• Casting• Heat treatment• Finishing operation
– Assembly– Inspection
• Non-Industrial application– Space application– Agricultural application– Ocean exploration.– Defense– House-hold jobs etc.
Advantages of Robots
• Robotics and automations can increase safety, reliability, production amount, profit, quality and quantity of products in a lot of cases.
• They can do jobs in dangerous situations and save lives of thousands of people.
• They do not care about the comfort of their environment. Human needs such as hunger or depression have no meanings for them. They do not get tired.
• Their accuracy is so high and is in the range of millimeters or even micrometers.
Disadvantages
• Robots can not respond properly at the times of emergency and danger.
• They are expensive.
• They Have limited duties. They can only do what they have been ordered to do.
