PROBLEM STATEMENT

A System for a vehicle after collision which can be fitted to any car.

Page 3: Presentation on post-collision alert system

OBJECTIVEOur objective is to save the lives of people who undergo a car accident and die due to latency period in post-accidental medical care.

Approximately 65,000 deaths can be prevented on an yearly average..

CONCEPT• Mobile technology integrated with real time sensors will help the medical aid to reach the car accident victim without any latency period.• The victim’s health parameters will help us decide the priority index for the urgency in post-accidental medical services.

ACTUATION OF “KAKA”When the brakes are applied sharply or when the car is impacting, the vehicle may stop, but due to the inertia, the passenger will keep moving forward. Seat belts can help restrain that motion. Inside, the retractor has a silver-colored bead that is slightly larger than a ball bearing. The movement of the ball due to the vehicle deceleration (either brake application or vehicle impact), results in an actuator moving up to lock the spool rotation, locking of the seat belts. In conjunction with the actuator, impact sensors will be used to reach a threshold value for the actuation of KAKA sensors.

ACTUATION OF “KAKA”(continued)

•On board pressure sensors surrounding the car will send the signals of impact to the Arduino board.•Sphygmomanometer will too send a signal to arduino board about profound changes in the victim’s blood pressure.•The arduino board will initiate the sequence of help signal if the conditions (from the sensors) are met.•Mobile based technology will send the message to 10 relatives plus a recorded message to the emergency services containing the location details.•Subsequent messages will include the health status of the patient.

ACTUATION OF “KAKA”(continued)

• The victim will have an option to abort the message delivery within 10 seconds of impact.

• Also will be present a rest button to initiate the sequence once again.

• The reset and abort button will be present near the hand-brake to prevents it’s damage incase of high impact accidents.

MESSAGE & LOCATION DELIVERY SYSTEM

• An android based device with a public location sharing application (like glympse).

• A text message with location link and SOS message will be sent to 10 close relatives / friends.

• The health parameters will also be sent in the subsequent messages.

Page 11: Presentation on post-collision alert system

ADVANTAGES

• Without any latency we can save the lives and deliver the message to relatives / friends.

• Health parameters will also be shared with the relatives / medical aid.

• Relatives will come to know immediately.

• Can be installed to any car because of its low cost.

• The system will come loaded with on-board diagnostics and the sequence will be initiated incase of a flaw.

Page 12: Presentation on post-collision alert system

LIMITATIONS

• Areas with no mobile network coverage will be a no-show.

• Health parameters will be a no show if the sphygmomanometer is destroyed in the accident.

Page 13: Presentation on post-collision alert system

SUMMARY

• With KAKA there could be subsequent decrease in post accidental deaths.

• Information will be shared at the earliest. • In all there would be reduction in death at

the spot of accidents.
