Rajec-Jestrebi is a small town situated along the river Svitava in southern Moravia.

Rajec belongs to the oldest settlements in our republic. It was founded in the 12th century and its name is first mentioned in 1141 in a document of the Bishop of Olomouc.

Jestrebi is first mentioned in 1371. It belonged to lords of Boritov.

In 1960 a two-part town Rajec-Jestrebi was created.

Rajec-Jestrebi has about 4,000 inhabitants.

This is our municipal coat of arms. It consists of three symbols: a hawk, a plough and knife (agricultural tools) and a saw (an industrial tool).

KarolinTwo villages – Holesin and Karolin belog to the town Rajec-Jestrebi.

This classicist chateau was built between 1763 and 1769. It was inspired by architecture from the time of Lewis XVI.

You can find here the Salm picture gallery, a large Empire library and collections of crystal, Chinese porcelain and copper engravings.

The court with French garden is surrounded by a large park in the English style.

There is a music hall in the chateau, in which many concerts take place, e.g. the international music festival Concentus Moraviae.

The school was established in 1993 as an alternative form of studies. It has two buildings because more and more students would like to study in Rajec-Jestrebi. The main building (1) has been used as school since 1905. It has eight classes, a laboratory and a computer classroom. It also has its own gym and a small playground.

Kopecek is a favourite restaurant and guesthouse in our region. The original building was built in 1869 by the Salm family. It was completely rebuilt in 1993 and a new chateau-style guesthouse with a period restaurant, a Blue Room, a Pink Room, a summer terrace, and a pleasant pub for beer lovers was created. Kopecek offers a refreshment and a high standard of accommodation There are seven blue bedrooms, comfortably furnished, two suites are white, and there is also the presidental suite with a fireplace and whirpool bath.
