Captain Speeches - Last Thursday we heard from our candidates for the position of School Leader in 2019. I was so proud of each and every student for standing up in front of the whole school and presenting their speeches. Each student spoke with confidence, clarity and a real sense of belonging here at Chatty. Well done Seth, Lily, Sascha, Luna and Rhea. The 2019 school leaders will be announced at Thursday’s Presentation assembly. School Disco - Well the theme of “anything goes” certainly lived up to expectations last Thursday night. The students came dressed in an array of costumes and outfits. Everyone enjoyed a great night of dancing and fun and games. A big thanks to the P & C for organising the evening. Swim Scheme - Swim scheme concluded last Friday and as I mentioned last week the teachers and swimming instructors were very impressed with all the student’s progress, behaviour and organisational skills. Awesome effort girls and boys!

Assembly THIS Thursday
29th Nov 9:30 AM
Presentation Assembly this Thursday Nov 29, 9:30am
This Thursday we will be holding our end of year Presentation Assembly. The assembly will start at 9:30am and conclude around 10:30am. The teachers find the job of choosing award recipients extremely difficult as not everyone receives an award. We have spoken to the students about this process and expectations etc. It would be appreciated if you could please reinforce this concept with your children.
Book Club Orders - The final issue of Book Club was sent home last week. These orders need to be back by Monday December 3 so students can receive their goodies before the end of the year.
Westpac Red and Yellow day - Last Friday our SRC held the annual red and yellow day to raise money for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service. Well done to everyone for dressing up in red and yellow and bringing in coin donations. We raised over $140 in silver and gold coins. Congratulations to our SRC!
Woody Head Rock Pool Ramble and Get Hooked on Fishing Excursion - This Friday we will be travelling to Woody Head for our much anticipated excursion. We will be leaving school at 9:00am sharp and returning by 3:00pm. Below is a brief rundown of the day. 9:30am- K/1/2: Rock Pool Ramble with National Parks Discovery rangers. Yrs 3-6: Hooked on Fishing Program with Department of Primary Industry officers and Fishcare volunteers. 11:00am recess. 11:30am- K/1/2: Sand sculpting and exploration. Yrs 3-6: Rock Pool Ramble. 1pm lunch. 1:30pm- beach games and shallow water activities. Do we have any parent volunteers who could cook the BBQ lunch? Please see Mr Speirs if you are able to assist.
Student Reports - Student reports will go home in Week 10. If you would like a formal interview with your child’s teacher please call in and make an appointment.
Woombah Christmas Carols - Don’t forget our school will be performing at the Woombah Christmas Carols this Friday evening. The Carols start at 6:00pm and we will be performing early. Students will perform the carols in their school shirt and black pants then a quick change into a Christmassy shirt for the dance. The students as well as our choir master Ryan and dance teacher Miss Lauren have all been working extremely hard on the carols and the dance. It would be wonderful to see as many students there as possible. This is one opportunity our school has to shine for our local community. See you there!
2019 Classes - Classes for next year will not be formed until the first week back next year. As we are a small school there are a number of contributing factors which can impact on class structures. This is why we hold off until early next year. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
Annual School Survey - Attached to this newsletter is the annual school survey. This survey allows us to plan for the future and review past programs. I have changed the format this year and strongly encourage every family to take the time to read the survey and answer a couple of simple questions. These surveys are anonymous and can be returned to the school office in the next two weeks. Results of the survey will be analysed and discussed at the next P & C meeting.

Chatty Toy Christmas Appeal: It’s that time of year again …Santa is coming and most
children will be blessed with lots of new and exciting toys and games under the tree. So, to make
way for these we are asking for donations of all your unwanted, grown out of toys and games! Just
like last year, they will be donated to the Rize Up Foundation who provide homes and safety for
families of domestic violence. Last year, our donations brought happiness to several families and
our simple act of giving changed lives. This year, there are families in need in our local area as a
direct result of the hardships caused by the drought. Please DO NOT buy toys or books or games,
just have a look around and if there are items that are in good working condition that you no longer use or play with,
donate them to our appeal. So let’s get involved – Sonia from Rize Up will collect donations on Thursday 13 December.
Canteen - No Canteen Friday due to Woody Head Excursion. Wednesday—Sahnti and Tennile S.

Chatsworth Island Public School Annual Survey. Please fill in and return to the school office.
In the box below, please let us know what you think our school does well.
In this next box, please write down the things you think we could improve or any suggestions. Please include
any ideas as to how you think this may be achieved.
School fees/contributions: Would you prefer a lower school contribution and have to pay separately for
things like dance, choir, ukulele, and visiting performers etc or do you like the way we have set up the fees,
eg: lump sum to cover all in school activities which can be paid off? Keeping in mind that every effort is made
to minimise costs to families through school subsidies etc.
