In today,s Manufacturing environment the optimal use of resources is amajor concern i.e. the utilization of full potential of available resources is
indispensible , so as to survive in competitive markets.
Industrial Engineers in today, s environment require means to develop
the existing products quickly and efficiently. The Concept of Product
Development is not new for an Industrial Engineer .It is the step by step
process of improvement in the product design and process. The
conventional approaches of product development are often very much
time consuming e.g normal factorial approach becomes unfeasible or
sometimes impractical when no. of variables increases.

Optimization is a process of minimizing ormaximizing some objective function withinconstraints.Design optimization is a process of finding mostappropriate design within available resources.Taguchi method developed by Genichi Taguchi is a
broad spectrum statistical technique of qualityimprovement by making products and their designsmore robust.Taguchi says thatTaguchi orthogonal array may be replaced withnormal factorial approach to reduce optimizationtime & effort and cost.Taguchi orthogonal array considerably reduce theno of experiments, due to which it may used asmean of rapid product development.Ansys is a simulation package widely used inmany research activities as it enable theresearchers and organizations to predict how the
product will be behave in the real world

1. To Minimize the total mass of
the Vessel by finding new
optimized design alternative.
2. The other associated benefits
are reduced material cost ,
ease of handling andtransportation etc.
3. To develop a methodology of
rapid product development by
using Taguchi technique and
Ansys.
