It´s a water windmill with a tail. Near there is a well “safareig” ( weel)

A VISIT TO VINROMÀ WINDMILL

Vinromà windmill was built betwen the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the next century. Its octagonal tower is built with typical mallorcan stone.

A VISIT TO VINROMÀ WINDMILL

Its wheel has a directional rudder, in a dart shape.

A VISIT TO VINROMÀ WINDMILL

A traditional windmill, with 20 blades and a diameter of 10 meters can not spin faster than 30 times per minute. Speed can be controlled through some antennas and the tail

A VISIT TO VINROMÀ WINDMILL

You can get to the top through the stairs, which are built following the shape of the tower.

Heavy chains inside the mills regulate the speed and direction of the sails which can move hard and fast enough to kill a man.

A VISIT TO VINROMÀ WINDMILLThe wind moves the wheel which at the same time moves the connecting-rod. A vertical movement is produced –upwards and downwards- and sets a water pump in motion.

The chains in the tower change the tail position. When the tail is perpendicular, the windmill is open and it spins faster.
