THE OUTER SKIN IS DIVIDED INTO FOUR INCLINED PLANES WHICH ARE DISPLACED VERTICALLY OPENING ON THE NORTHEAST PART TO THE HARBOUR,THE NORTHWEST TO THE CITY, SOUTHWEST TO THE PARK AND SOUTHEAST OF THE TOWARDS THE OCEAN.

IT IS MADE OF A METAL GRID FOR EACH ONE OF THESE PLANES, WHICH SERVE AS STRUCTURE TO THE BUILDING, AND WHICH TOGETHER WITH THECENTRAL CORE FLOW SUPPORT THE SLABS.

EACH ONE OF THESE PLANES HAS MODULES OF WOODEN SLATS THAT MOVE TO PROTECT THE ACCESS OF SOLAR LIGHT INTO THE INTERIOR. DURINGTHE LONG SUMMER DAYS THIS GIVES THE ABILITY TO CONCENTRATE SUCH LIGHT FILTERS AT THOSE POINTS WHERE THE SUN SHINES MORE

BRIGHTLY, AND DURING THE SHORT WINTER DAYS IT ALLOWS ONE TO STRETCH THE HOURS OF DAYLIGHT

THE MUSEUM HAS A SECOND AND MORE DELICATE INNER SKIN LAYER MADE OF CUSTOMISED GLASS. USING THE "CERAMIC DIGITAL PRINTING"TECHNOLOGY, WE GENERATE AN ARTISTIC DISPLAY WITH SEVERAL OPTIC EFFECTS TO MISREPRESENT ITS VOLUME, WHICH IN TURN ALLOWS

A BETTER INTEGRATION OF THE MUSEUM AS A COMPONENT OF THE FINNISH LANDSCAPE..

THEACCESS TO THE INTERIOR SPACE IS DIVIDED BETWEEN THE ACCESS FOR VISITORS AND THE ACCESS FOR WORKERS AND GOODS. IT IS DIFFERENTIATED AT THE ENTRANCE, WHERE ACCESS TAKES PLACE AT TWO DIFFERENT LEVELS, AS WELL AS BY VERTICAL CIRCULATION.

THE HEART OF THE BUILDING IS A REVOLVING STAIRCASE WHICH CONNECTS ALL LEVELS AND ALLOWS ONE TO EXPERIENCE THE LANDSCAPE ANDINTERIOR SPACES FROM DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES AND AS A NETWORK OF HYPNOTIC POINTS.
