The participants in the pharmaceutical market and the production are
growing.
As far as the other sectors of the colombian economy grow, demand for
health services and social security coverage increases.
The pharmaceutical industry contributes to create more employment
Salaries in the pharmaceutical industry now are in balance in relation with
the manufacturing industry
The pharmaceutical sector in Colombia is not as open as it could be

The apparent consumption is one of the main indicators in the sector.
The internationalization of the colombian pharmaceutical market in still

Exports and imports continue to grow. In 2010 Venezuela for the first time
ceased to be the first destination, which this place is now held by Ecuador.

The sales ratio of RX and OTC in the last three years remain relatively
stable.
The best future growth scenarios are in Emerging Countries such as Latin
America.
There is a global trend in the growth of the outsourcing market, not only in
research and development but also in manufacturing, sales and services.
Health expenditure as percentage of GDP is significant.
Out of pocket health expenditure is decreasing.
Equality in the health system is improving.
Institutions in health system need to be reinforced.
The actors in health system have to be more strategic than ever.
Market regulation, macroeconomic enviroment and the managment of
health institutions will determine the future of the system.
High tech will be very useful for the system sustainability.
