Present Perfect Continuous - Use• Pentru a accentua continuitatea unei acţiuni pentru o

perioadă lungă de timp până în momentul vorbirii (itemphasizes the duration, the continuity of the actionin the present ):

e.g. Mary has been watering the flowers for half an hour.

Acţiunea de a uda florile a început acum o jumătate de oră şi încăcontinuă.

Present Perfect Continuous -Observations

• Se analizează următoarele propoziţii:

I’ve been drinking tea since 5 o’clock.

vs.

I’ve drunk three cups of tea since 5 o’clock.

În prima propoziţie se arată faptul că vorbitorul a băut ceai fără întrerupere până la ora 5, pe când în a doua propoziţie vorbitorul precizează simplu câte ceşti a băut fără a menţiona dacă a făcut pauză sau nu.
