PreProBono Student ResultsThe first PreProBono Weekend Program for LSAT was launched in April of 2008. Since then, PreProBono has run over a dozen programs spanning New York City, Boston, Berkeley, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, and Honolulu, serving over 700 students. As a result, PreProBono’s alumni network is expanding to a multitude of schools across the country. The fanfare from our students has been especially positive and heartfelt.

“PreProBono was great! In just one weekend, I learned valuable techniques for each type of question on the LSAT. I focused my preparation on perfecting the techniques I had learned and scored very high on the LSAT. I highly recommend PreProBono!”Olga Zverovich, 177 (Harvard Law J.D. ‘14)

“PreProBono provides comprehensive guidance to walk you through every step of the LSAT and the law school application process. Everyone at the organization really cares about placing you in the law school of your dreams.”Eunbi Lee, 177 (NYU Law J.D. ‘13)

“Having taken a prep course from a widely-known test prep company, I can easily say that this program provides invaluable insight that huge name test prep companies will not.” - Andrew Proto (Fordham University B.A. ‘12)

“I got a 170 on the LSAT - I owe my thanks to PreProBono!”Haeri You, 170 (Boalt Hall J.D. ‘14)

Our students’ results demonstrate that our programs facilitate vast improvements in LSAT performance, regardless of starting point. Our experience gives us unwavering confidence that we can help any student that is willing to put in the necessary effort. Below are some of our results from our most recent summer fellowship program, which speak for themselves:

The PreProBono MissionLaw is a fundamental cornerstone of our society, so it’s no wonder that law school is such a popular destination for civic-minded people. An entire industry has developed specifically to serve the test preparation and admissions consulting needs of students. Most of these programs cost several thousand dollars, and result in a higher LSAT score and a professionally-polished law school application.

Unfortunately, the high cost of these programs has had the effect of shutting out those who cannot afford them. PreProBono was conceived of as an organization that would attempt to remedy this by giving underprivileged and underrepresented minority students with an interest in public service access to the same resources. These students have the drive and the ability to succeed; what they lack is the opportunity.

Our mission is to help economically disadvantaged and underrepresented pre-law students attain admission into law schools so that they may pursue careers in public-interest, humanitarian, or otherwise altruistic law.

We do this by offering the best LSAT prep, offering the best law school admissions consulting, and building a network of public-interest minded individuals at low cost or for free.

PreProBono serves primarily underrepresented students: minority students, female students, and students in financial need. This is a demographic breakdown of students who have attended our programs:

Public Interest Community BuildingPreProBono provides networking opportunities and mentors to pre-law students, law students, and graduates from law schools, who are interested in working in government, non-profit organizations, or other areas of public service.

During our weekend programs and summer programs, guest speakers talk to the students about public interest law. This provides the students with a platform for connecting with established lawyers and current law students actively involved in the public interest sector. Through utilizing personal networks and rigorous outreach, each PreProBono program offers students a chance to meet somebody with real experience in serving public interest.

Our guest speakers have hailed from a diverse background of public interest law. Previous speakers have included:

• Elizabeth Cho, J.D. Harvard ‘08 - Skadden Fellow at the Trauma and Learning Policy Initiative

• Ryan Park, J.D. Harvard ‘10 - Law Clerk to Judge Jed S. Rakoff of the Southern District of New York

• Ryan Downer, J.D. NYU ‘08 - Skadden Fellow at the NAACP Legal Defense Fund

• The Honorable Steven Levinson - Associate Justice of the Hawaii State Supreme Court

• James Moody, J.D. NYU ’10 - Public Defender in Miami

• Aaron Halegua, J.D. Harvard ‘10 - Skadden Fellow at the Legal Aid Society in New York City

6 The PreProBono Network

Our longstanding aim is to create a network of individuals that share an interest in law and altruism. By nurturing prelaw students and soliciting young lawyers from the public interest sector as speakers and mentors, we will provide an outlet to promote the law as a powerful tool for positive change. Taking on an innovative, media savvy approach, we strive to provide a fresh voice to the legal profession, inspiring the next generation of lawyers for Good.
